Hello Sunshine

Pretty Pink Posh

Hello, sweet friends.

Today I have a personal post to share- something that my new readers may not be used to. A little back story… before I started my business, videos or social media, I was just a blogger. I posted about my mediocre craft projects, things I was doing and little bits of randomness. During this time, my readership grew slowly but those readers became some of my very first blog friends. As I became more serious about blogging, and eventually started my business, these personal posts have been become a little less frequent. Nevertheless, they are still some of my favorite to write because I get to share my heart and give you little glimpses into my life.

Over the weekend, my sister that lives in San Francisco, surprised us with a visit. We don’t get to see her often, so when she does come, I try to put aside work so I can enjoy my time with her. As it turns out, I had stayed awake until 3AM the previous morning to finish up work projects, so it worked out perfectly. I had planned on stamping the whole weekend, but that was pity in comparison to spending quality time with my sister. As some of you know, my word for 2015 is LIVE, so I decided at that moment to live.

We had a lovely weekend together. We stayed up to the wee hours watching Netflix together, I randomly decided to cut off 8-9 inches of hair off, we planned details of my assistant’s wedding that’s in June, lots of delicious goodness from Chiptole was consumed and then we ended it with manicures and pedicures. Absolute bliss wrapped up in a single weekend.

Pretty Pink Posh

Some may be wondering why my word for 2015 is LIVE. I won’t go into it all, but back in August 2012 I was in a car accident that changed my life. It turned my whole world upside down and I went through years of trying to find logical answers on why I was dealing with all these health issues. Just this past year, I have been able to slowly enjoy moments in life. While I don’t live a “normal” life, by any means, I have learned to take advantage of the moments I feel well and in the midst of the craziness, I opened my shop. THIS POST really goes into it more, share links to other posts on the topic and even gives you the podcast where I share how the Pretty Pink Posh Shop came to be.

I won’t pretend that everything is pure bliss- that is far from true. I still have days where I can’t get out of bed due to chronic fatigue. I imagine life without health issues and the ability to drive wherever my heart desires, meet the man of my dreams and start a family. Who knows, it could happen someday… if it does, I’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, I’ll continue to keep plugging away. I want to continue to inspire you, my readers, customers and friends. Let’s continue to LIVE.

Pretty Pink Posh

Question: when is the last time you lived in the moment? It could be something spontaneous, or an event that was planned for a while. I want to hear how you all are LIVING in 2015.

Hip Hip Hooray!

Hello, hello!

Today I was planning on doing a personal post, but I realized I needed to announce the winners of the last two blog posts. This weekend was filled with surprises (which I’ll go into in my next post), so this got a little bit delayed. Instead of doing just a winner announcement post, I thought I’d throw in a card I haven’t shared on the blog, too.

This card is actually one I created back in December, but never got around to sharing. It features the darling Monster Celebrations set by DeNami Design- one of their very first clear sets! I’m a sucker for sets that bring a smile to your face and this one definitely does. monsters2a

I wanted to use the Peek-A-Boo die in a creative way, so I decided to keep the bottom folds closed and use it as a pocket. The rectangle tag from the Stitched Tags fits into the “pocket” perfectly! One of my favorite things about these monsters are the versatility. You could use them for graduation, promotions, doing well in school…

Did you notice the coloring I did on the “hooray”? I’m totally loving the ombre look lately and it’s super easy to achieve with Copics.

Product Release Blog Hop

March_BlogHop

Hello, sweet friends!

It’s been a few days since the new dies and sequins were released and I know that some of you are already starting to get your orders. Hooray! For those who still have orders in, fear not, I’m still busy working on those orders and will get them out as soon as I can. Now for those who were waiting to see more ideas on these products- TODAY is the day.

The last three cards I shared were pastel cards, so I thought I would share a bright and bold card today. Plus, I was looking for a reason to break out the Tiny Heroes set by Mama Elephant and these colors fit it perfectly.

On today’s card, I used the new Picket Fence die, along with the Stitched Duo 2 (for the main piece) and the Stitched Borders 1 for the grassy hill and the red scallop border. I love how the picket fence really makes the scene feel like it’s outside and brings the whole superhero scene together.

I will admit, I cannot stop using the Spring Flowers Mix. These little flowers work well on so many themes and depending on how many you add, you really can make each pack stretch.

PRIZES: be sure to leave comments on each stop- I’m giving away 2 $25 gift certificates to two random comments left before March 11, 2015 at 11:59 PM PDT. I’ll be announcing the winners next week, so be sure to return and see if you are one of the winners!

Ready to hop on over and see LOTS more fabulous inspiration? Each of these gals are extremely talented and I truly am honored they took the time to make something with my new dies and sequins.

Happy Elephants + Sneak Peek

As I’m typing this, I should be working on new release orders, but I wanted to pop in with another post. You all never cease to amaze me with your kind words and unwavering support. This release I was struggling with a dreaded migraine through all the prep, but after reading all the comments you left, it reminded me why I do what I do. Thank you.

I’m planning on doing a March Favorites video and can you guess what will be making an appearance? If you said the Wplus9 Unforgettable set, you’re correct!  I’ve always thought elephants were cute, but Dawn raised the cuteness level with these little guys.

elephant1a

You know I love little window cards, so I created one using the new Stitched Banner Duo, along with the squares from the Stitched Duo 3 dies. I figure if one elephant is cute, adding three to a card makes this card too cute for words.

In the March 2015 Release video, I mentioned that I am loving the Arrows set from Create A Smile. I used it on so many cards recently- I didn’t realized I NEEDED it until I started using it. Such an easy way to add a subtle background without always using polka dots and stripes.

I wanted to remind you to mark your calendars for Thursday, March 5th. The design team and I will have projects to share with you using the new dies and sequins, along with GIVEAWAYS, and of course, inspiration. Here’s just a peek at what’s to come.

Well, this girl should get back to packaging orders. Thank you all again for all the love!

March 2015 Release + Giveaway

It’s here, it’s here! The March release is here! This month I have three brand new dies, a new sequin and confetti color and some fabulous new sequin mixes. Spring is on the horizon and you can tell I’m gearing up for it with this release.

I’ve always been a fan of cards that have a scene and with the new Picket Fence die, it makes everything come together perfectly. I pulled out the new Wplus9 set called Unforgettable (which is my current favorite set) and had the little elephant take the spotlight. I think it’s so fun how it looks like he’s prancing along the grass with flowers scattered about. Those flowers are from the new Spring Flowers Mix, which is something that has been requested for some time. I love how this mix turned out and I know you all will love using these flowers on your cards!

March 2015 Release + Giveaway

As I was creating this card, I was trying to figure out a way to add a sentiment and then an AHA moment came. Why not try putting the sentiment on the new Stitched Labels 1 die? I was giddy with how it turned out and now I’m thinking of all the other possibilities!

March 2015 Release + Giveaway

This second card features the new Stitched Banner Duo, along with the yummy new Lime Sorbet sequins. When I designed this die set, I really wanted to focus on creating a banner shape that was meant for cards, but also had the option to be used for other crafting projects. More ideas for this die coming in future posts/ videos!

March 2015 Release + Giveaway

In today’s video, I highlight the way I layered the Stitched Borders 1 & 2 dies. Every now and then, an idea will come to me and I want to share it. This, my friends, is one of them. How neat does it look with the stitched scallop and straight stitched border look layered?! Such a small detail, but I think it really enhances the card.

Springtime Party

Pretty Pink Posh I Springtime Party

I am so very excited to share today’s post with you. It’s a project that has been in the works for a little while and thanks to my amazing assistant, it finally is making it’s appearance here on the blog.

For those who visit my blog often, you know I’m a card maker. I love the fact that cards can be made in one session and each one can be unique and as detailed, or simple, as your creativity allows. However, every now and then, it’s fun to stretch yourself and create outside of a card.

Pretty Pink Posh I Springtime Party

One of the things I really wanted to showcase in this post was the versatility of sequins and confetti. Not only do they look super cute on cards, but they also are perfect for parties! Whether you decorate your table with them, add them to the inside of your clear balloons, or use them on cupcake toppers, they will make every aspect of your party shine. Plus, with the wide array of colors I carry in the Pretty Pink Posh Shop, you can match them to whichever color palette you choose!

TIP: since this was the first time adding them to balloons, we learned that star confetti isn’t the best choice (due to the points). The circle or heart confetti with a mixture of sequins would be the ideal option.

Pretty Pink Posh I Springtime Party

In the past, I’ve created cupcake toppers with stamps (see HERE, HERE and HERE) . Today, I set aside the stamps and brought out some die cuts, sequins and confetti for these cupcake toppers. Since we were going for a spring party, I used a butterfly die, but you can easily change it to match whichever theme you are throwing for your party.

Pretty Pink Posh I Springtime Party

I’m totally in love with the cupcake topper on the big cupcake. The little tissue tassels, plus the threading of sequins and confetti had me squealing with delight when it was finished. Oh and that aqua? We just wrapped washi tape around the wooden skewer!

Pretty Pink Posh I Springtime Party

Products used: 6mm Pink Peonies Sequins, 6mm Pansy Purple Sequins, 6mm Lemon Meringue Sequins, 6mm Metallic Silver Sequins, Silver Star Confetti and 6mm Silver Confetti

Pretty Pink Posh I Springtime Party

Since we had this fun set-up, I thought I’d snap a few product photos, too. I just love the way they turned out. My favorite part is the martini glasses filled with sequins!

Pretty Pink Posh I Springtime Party

We had so much fun creating this post. I hope you were inspired to add sequins and confetti to projects outside of paper crafts. All sequins and confetti found in this post can be found in my shop- Pretty Pink Posh.

Did you enjoy today’s post? Let me know if you want to see more party ideas in the future; we have lots of fun ideas if you’d like to see more!

Happy Friends + VIDEO

Today I have a brand new In Review post and video to share with you. I was recently in contact with Create A Smile, a new stamp company based in Germany. Their stamps are cute, quality made stamps with a hint of whimsy to them. The owner, Christine, is very sweet and I had such a great time testing out and playing with her products. PLUS, her international shipping rates start at just $5!

Pretty Pink Posh I Create A Smile

If you’re new to my blog, I’ve done a couple In Review posts in the past (and am hoping to continue them on sporadically through 2015). In these posts I showcase the cards I created with the company featured, along with a video showcasing the products I tried out and info/ giveaway details. Let’s get started with the post, shall we?

Pretty Pink Posh I Create A Smile

The first card features the cute little penguin and sentiments from the Penguin Party set. This cutie can be used to create all sorts of fun scenes. I used the Stitched Duo 2 to create my scene and then added in a grass die, along with the Picket Fence die (that I will be releasing on March 1st). To finish off the scene, I added in some white sequin flowers and a couple sequins in the corners. Sweet, simple, but super cute results.

Pretty Pink Posh I Create A Smile

The second card showcases the Monster Party and Arrows stamp sets. As I mention in the video, the arrow set is what made this whole feature come to be. I loved how simple this background is, yet it makes such a difference on cards. It’s a nice change of pace from my polka dot backgrounds!

Pretty Pink Posh I Create A Smile

For this card, I decided to use the Stitched Duo 3 die as my focal panel and created a little scene with the monsters. These silly guys are so fun and you can’t help but smile when you color them. To finish off the card, I added a twine bow to the largest monster and a few yellow sequin flowers.

Pretty Pink Posh I Create A Smile

This last card is the brightest of the bunch, but I thought it was appropriate since it’s a birthday card. I knew I wanted to have the penguin with cake as the focal point, so I played around with a few dies and thought he looked the best with the Stitched Film Strip. The card needed a little extra pop of color, so I added the scallop from the Stitched Borders 1 to either side. A little addition of sequins to bring in more color and this card was done.

Pretty Pink Posh I Create A Smile

Since today was a special post, I also found some time to film a quick little video. I show these cards a little more in depth, along with a peek at the three stamp sets I featured in this post.

GIVEAWAY ALERT: At the end of the video, I share how you can win some Create A Smile goodies and sequins.

Lawnscaping Birthday Challenge

Pretty Pink Posh II Lawnscaping Birthday Challenge Today is a special day! It’s Lawnscaping Challenge’s 100th challenge and I have been invited as a special party guest by Design team Member Christy Reuling. Be sure to head on over to the Lawnscaping Blog where you can see ALL of the Design Team projects as well as ALL of the special party guest projects.

Since today is all about celebrating, I wanted to bring in several party guests for my card. One of my favorite things about Lawn Fawn products is they appeal to both kids and adults and today I wanted to create a card for a kiddo in my life. I brought out the Monster Mash set, along with the Bugs & Kisses set and went with a primary color palette (which I always think of as kid friendly).

Pretty Pink Posh II Lawnscaping Birthday Challenge

Lately I’ve been all about adding Silly Eyes on critters- I think it adds such a fun element to cards. To finish off this card, I added the Grassy Border and then added a bow using the Turquoise Chevron Twill ribbon.

Pretty Pink Posh II Lawnscaping Birthday Challenge

If you feel up for a challenge, be sure to head over to the Lawnscaping challenge. The prize this week is a stamp set of your choice from Lawn Fawn.
