Neat & Tangled Guest Designer

Hello and Happy Monday!
I have some fun news to share- I’m the guest designer over on the Neat & Tangled blog. Danielle contacted me a while ago and asked if I would be interested, I answered with a resounding “yes”! Her stamp line has lots of cute images and they’re a lot of fun to use.
Here’s a peek at what I have created over on their blog today…..

Another tidbit of info- I created a pop up card! :)  I hope you’ll join me over there for my special card over there.
I’ll see you all tomorrow, thanks for visiting me today!

Thoughtful Thank You Blog Hop

Hello there!

I’m here today for my post for the DeNami Thoughtful Thank You Blog Hop. I’ll be the first to admit, I had so many ideas on what I wanted to do for this post, but didn’t know if any of them would come to light. With my health being shaky lately, my bouts of crafting have been on and off. I’m SO grateful that I was feeling good one day and was able to knock out this fun little project.

If you started from the beginning of the hop, you should be coming from Pattie Goldman’s blog. If this is your first stop and you would like to start from the beginning, be sure to head on over to the DeNami blog for the complete list of participants.

This is a lengthy post, so let’s jump right into it…..

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about Christmas. It’s hard to resist- my mom has already put up our Christmas tree and the stores are all decked out in pretty decorations. I will admit, mentally I’m not prepared for the crazy holiday season, but I DO love creating pretty holiday items.

Since my budget will be tight this year, I plan on making some of my Christmas presents. I know quite a few of my friends aren’t super crafty, but appreciate homemade items, so I thought I’d create some little gift sets. Since many people receive Christmas presents, I thought I’d create some mini thank you cards so they can hand them out.

I’ve had these tins forever and thought this was a great time to pull them out. They are super handy- I’ve used them to wrap up gift cards, package cards and now using them for Christmas presents. Yay for versatile items!

I pulled out many stamps on this project- I’ll post the complete supply list below. I always enjoy seeing which stamps work together and these blog hops are the perfect time to do so. :) Hopefully it inspires you to try out new stamp combinations, or maybe introduce you to new DeNami stamps.

I know this was a longer post, so I’ll wrap this up. Your next stop on the hop: Barbara Murphy! This gal is such a sweetheart and also really creative. I’m sure she’ll have a fabulous item to share with us today.

Be sure to leave comments on all of the blog hop stops for your highest chance of winning one of the gift certificates. With the DeNami website offering 10% off for the month of November, the gift certificates will go even further! :)

Enjoy the rest of the blog hop. Thanks for stopping by!

Bright Bold Flowers

Wow, can it be? I’ll be posting at least 10 days in a row! Normally I like to take a break on the weekends, but I couldn’t pass up the new sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch!

As you know, Avery Elle is sponsoring the 10 Minute Craft Dash this week and I can’t seem to stop using the Blossoms & Blooms set! I pulled it out for this card and paired it up with a sentiment from Paper Smooches. I decided I would use some warm colors inspired by the leaves scattered about the yard. {Side note: Fall is such a beautiful season}

I have to say, I’m utterly addicted to all of the new Momento ink colors. They stamp so nicely {see above} and I love the rich colors in the latest release. Have you tried these Momento inks before? I’ve love to hear your favorite colors!

I’ll be back tomorrow with my post for the DeNami Thoughtful Thank You blog hop post. I created a project {gasp!} and I hope you’ll stop by and take a peek. Have a fantastic Saturday!

November Cloud9 Blog Hop

Hello!

Today I’m participating in the November blog hop over at Cloud9. This inspiration photo is so colorful and inspiring- I had such a hard time deciding which part I wanted to use on my card. I decided I would go for the wall hanging, after all, I can’t pass up a bright and happy Christmas tree!

And now, here is my take……

I don’t have any full-on Christmas stamps by WPlus9, so I had to be a little creative. After sorting through my stamp sets, I pulled out all of my possibilities and found that this little medallion from Mehndi Medallions was my best option. I must say, I’m loving this little medallion tree! Did you notice the little bow? That’s from Kisses & Cuddles {which is a “baby” set!}. Yay for creativity!

I was originally going to leave this card without a sentiment, but it just looked a little too bear. After sorting through my sets {again}, I decided to use this one from Poinsettia Patterns.  It’s sweet and simple and I thought it worked well on this card.

I know there are many other stops on the blog hop, so I’m going to wrap up this post. Be sure to head on over to the Cloud9 blog for the list of participants and all the details of the hop! Thanks for visiting me here at Pretty Pink Posh today!

Thankful Thursday: November 8th

Hello!

Oh my, how is it already Thursday again? Has the week flown by for anyone else? I was looking at my blog calendar and got so sidetracked by the upcoming weeks I *almost* forgot today’s post! I tell you, the accident has ruined my memory!

Here is my list for this week:

  • Acupuncture- it has helped deal with the pain a little bit. Every little bit counts!
  • The ability to work from home occasionally. When I’m not feeling physically up for work, I’m really grateful for this option.
  • Homemade dinner. There’s nothing quite like home cooking!
  • A new book that was recommended by my friend- I’ll give you all the scoop when I’m finished with it. :)
  • Friends that stop and surprise me when I’m not feeling good. You know you have amazing friends when they drive an hour to see you AND bring you coffee!
  • The opportunities I’ve received from this blog. So blessed.
Since you’re reading this, that means you made it through another week. Now it’s your turn…… What are YOU thankful for this week?
I’ll see you all tomorrow, blog friends! Hope you have a fabulous day!

10 Minute Craft Dash #6

Hello!

We had a little extra break since there were five weeks in October, so I hope you all are ready and excited for a new 10 Minute Craft Dash! With the weather starting to get more chilly, and the leaves falling about, I just had to do a warm color palette this time around.

Recently, I’ve heard and seen that some may be having a bit of trouble with the challenge. I have created a Tips & Tricks page {at the top of my blog}, which includes some things that help me when creating under a time constraint. As more tips come to mind, I’ll add them to the page- also, I’m planning on including some pictures there as well.

I am thrilled and honored to have Avery Elle as the sponsor of this challenge. I have had the privilege of working with their cardstocks and tried one of their stamps sets and they are top notch. I really love how their cardstock has such a high quality texture and weight. Below you can see three of them used on my card, along with the set Blossoms & Blooms.

Time it took to create: 6 minutes 56 seconds
I am excited to have the four gals on the Avery Elle design team joining along in this challenge as special guest designers, along with the owner, Jamie! These gals are incredibly talented and I’m on pins and needles waiting to see what they came up with for this challenge. Head on over to each of their blogs and see what they created!

Now onto the fun prize! Jamie has provided a $20 gift certficiate to the Avery Elle website for the winner. They just finished a new release {which has lots of sets I’m eying}, so I know you’ll thoroughly enjoy shopping on their website. Also, if you need to stock up on cardstocks, be sure to take a peek at their lovely array of colors.

 How to Play

1) Create a card/craft project within 10 minutes using the color palette above
2) Post the time it took to create
You can pull out your supplies before your timer starts!
  • Post the challenge graphic in your post, link to this challenge post.
  • You may combine a total of three challenges with your entry. You may enter the challenge a maximum of two times.
  • Challenge ends November 17, 2012 at 11:59pm, PST.

With November here, I am busy prepping my blog schedule for the rest of the month and also starting to get some of the first few weeks of 2013 planned out. Speaking of which, I recently had this genius {well, at least to me} idea for a social experiment. The details would be posted to the blog and those with blogs would be encouraged to join. However, those who YouTube or Facebook, and those who don’t, would be more than welcome to join too! I don’t want to divulge too much information, but let’s just say it would bring joy to those around you and carry the theme of love. Sound intriguing? Would you join along?
For my crafty friends, if you are interested in getting a head start on your 10 Minute Craft Dash project…there’s a sneak peek of the colors that will be featured on the Pretty Pink Posh Facebook page! If you like my page and go to “exclusives”, you get to see the next 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge colors a day early!
That’s going to wrap up this post. Curious to see your answers on the social experiment—-I’m hoping many will be intrigued! Don’t worry, answering the question won’t lock you in! :)
See you all tomorrow for a brand new 10 Minute Craft Dash. I have a new sponsor and I cannot wait to announce who it is. Come join in on the fun!

Featured Blogger- Jenny Simmons

Hello and Happy Monday!

Oh goodness, words cannot even begin to describe how much I have looked forward to this feature. Recently, after my accident {story here}, I have decided to pursue my dreams and goals and step outside my comfort zone a little more. This particular Featured Blogger post is one of those steps.

For those who follow my blog, you know I’m a huge lover of music. While I don’t discriminate against many genres, I always have a special place in my heart for CCM, Contemporary Christian music. It’s this genre that lifts my spirits and really allows me to worship the Lord. These songs always seem to pull at my heartstrings and so many of the songs relates to where I am.

This month, I am doing a feature with one of my favorite bloggers, who also happens to be famous in the CCM circle. She was part of the group Addison Road, that released multiple records and toured all across the country for a decade. Not only is she extremely gifted musically, she is open and honest and has an amazing personality. I am beyond thrilled to introduce you to Jenny Simmons.

Let’s start off with some blogging questions!

Tell us about your blog! When and why did you start it?

My husband said, “Jen, you have like 5 million words a day and I can honeslty only listen to about 500,000 of them. You have to start writing. You have to find an outlet.” So I did! He has always encouraged me in blogging- and like many things- I am certain that without his constant persuasion I would have quit a long time ago. Discipline is my weakness, so it’s been quite the gift to have someone who believes in me enough to push me past my own level of discipline. I’ve been blogging for five years now! I’ve never done anything for 5 years!

What inspires you for your posts?

I’m a storyteller. I’m constantly eavesdropping :) Constantly watching little things going on in the world around me that perhaps others don’t pay much attention to. Constantly taking pictures in my head. Constantly drawing spiritual implications out of really mundane things like leaves, clouds, a good meal with friends or an annoyingly long line at Starbucks. I have a deep love for people and nature and I try and capture both through my writing. Telling a story the way it is unfolding in my own head is great therapy for me!

Is there a specific post (of yours) that is your favorite?

I like the post called Line Lover because it describes my favorite part of my job. Another called Daddy.Puppy.Peoples. Because it describes the beauty of my little girl’s heart. And my final favorite is called I Don’t Care, But I Do, But I Don’t. A very transparent blog about listening to criticism and being redirected off myself and back onto Jesus.

Do you read blogs yourself? If so, what are your favorites?

I wish I read blogs, but I don’t! Occasionaly I will read Don Millers, but other than that, I don’t ever think about it. The same way that it doesn’t occur to me to listen to music! So I am a writer of music and stories who doesn’t read many contemporary stories or listen to music!

What is the thing you enjoy most about blogging?

I love the way blogging has allowed me to develop a community of friends all over the world. I’ve actually made life-long friends with some of the people who comment on my blog. We share life together in that strange, on-line, sort of way. I also love that blogging allows me to share my life with people who may have otherwise assumed things about me that are not true. I.E. I am a rich, famous, super-strong Christian girl who has it all together and is generally better than other girls. I am none of those things. I like that through blogging, I can dispel the myth that a person on a stage is somehow any different than the next person. When you have a place to tell stories of normal life: mistakes, pain, triumphs, disasters and mom failures, all of a sudden, you become just another person.

Do you ever find it difficult to be “real” and put yourself out there?

Ha! I didn’t read this question before answering the last one! I’m actually the exact opposite. I find it hard to not bare all to the world. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I am an open book. If anything, the struggle for me has always been not sharing too much and creating healthy boundaries that protect my marriage, my daughter, my friends and family… while also being able to speak truthfully about the events in my life and the way those play our in my heart and soul.

Okay, now onto some fun questions…..

How did you know you wanted to be a singer?

I still don’t know! I think when you are a little kid, you gravitate towards something that you love. And if you are lucky, you don’t ever have to give that up. I always wrote my own newspapers and charged my parents money to come listen to me sing Amy Grant songs in the bathroom (it has the best acoustics, you know!). I’ve always loved singing.

What has been your proudest moment as an musical artist?

Definitely performing at American Airlines center in my hometown of Dallas, TX. It was a sold out crowd of over 16,000 people and I was very pregnant. As in, my doctor was backstage and I was already dilated! I knew it would probably be the biggest show of my career and even though it was only 4 songs, to be able to do that while being so incredibly pregnant… with all our family and friends there… it was just a dream!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

What is spare time?!? Get back to me when I don’t have a pre-schooler who has refused to nap her whole life!!! If I do have free time I love reading Foreign Affairs journal. I’m somewhat of a history/policy junkie- the artist who secretly wants to be a diplomat! So I read and hang out with girlfriends and veg out with my husband.

In the past few months, what are some (or one) of the Lord has taught you?

For some time now I have been revisiting Psalm 23. It seems to be with me all the time. The Lord is my Shepherd. That one statement is so rich in love, mercy and commitment. That anyone would choose to be a shepherd- a good shepherd at that- to a slightly lost, helpless, vulnerable little sheep amazes me. And lately I’ve needed to find myself lost in God’s provision all over again. And so I am trying to dwell there- in a place where I am led by the good shepherd.

Name 5 things that you are most passionate about:

My daughter. My husband. South Sudan. World Concern. The people affected by my music, writing and stories

If you could be remembered for anything, what would you want it to be?

That I was a lover. I loved God, people and life. Pretty simple, but it’s all I care about.

While Jenny was in Seattle, I had the great privilege of getting to meet and chat with her in person. Even though she lost her voice and was incredibly sick, she was still so gracious and sweet. Here’s the picture we took together:

A great big thank you to Jenny for taking the time to answer these questions. Now that you see how fun she is, I’m sure you want to follow her too! Here’s where you can find her:

Since I want to introduce my readers to Jenny and her amazing musicplus allow her fans snag her new single- I’ll be giving away 20 copies of her single! Once again, I’ll be bringing out this handy, new widget to moderate all the giveaway entries.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

I hope that you enjoyed this feature and either got introduced to Jenny, or learned more about her. I will admit, this has been my favorite blog post to date, and I can’t wait to see what paths the Lord has for me in the future!

Thank you all for visiting {and leaving some blog love}.

Big hugs…..

Poinsettia Blossoms

Happy Friday!

Some of you may be coming from the DeNami blog……welcome! I’m thrilled to have you join me on my personal blog for inspiration using the Poinsettia Vines set. This set is so pretty and can be used for everyday cards, in addition to Christmas cards.

Today I went the route of showing how to use this set on a thinking of you card. This little blossom is so pretty and I love how elegant and delicate it looks with pastel colors.

As you can see, I pulled out my Sew Easy tools again. Click here to view my photo tutorial I did a few months back. I cannot seem to stop sewing on my cards! I think it adds such a unique and delicate detailing.

Be sure to stop by the DeNami blog, along with the sweet Wendy Elliot’s blog for more inspiration using this pretty set. There’s a wide gambit of themes and colors- I know you’ll be inspired by them.

So glad you stopped by today. Talk with you all soon!

Thankful Thursday- November 1st

Hello there, friends!

Before I start, thank you to those who left comments on the Random Loves for October post. It was so much fun to read your lists! I spied some new things I’ll have to check out and try. I just love these posts and seeing what you all are enjoying these days. This could get dangerous soon….you all are great enablers! :)

It’s time for Thankful Thursday- here is my list what I’m thankful for this week:

  • Family that is willing to drop everything and stay with me since I had a setback in my health this past weekend.
  • Had a surge of creativity for some work crafty projects yesterday. Yay for productivity!
  • My co-worker bringing her little girl in the other day- such a sweet day brightener!
  • Finalized some sponsors for the beginning of 2013 for the 10 Minute Craft Dash. I’m so thankful for these amazing companies and the opportunity to introduce/ showcase them on the blog.
  • YOU all. I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m thankful for all of your sweet comments, emails and notes. I ♥ you all!

Even though this week has been more than challenging physically, I actually came up with a lot of things I’m thankful for. Recently, my mom challenged me to consciously make an effort each day to list what I’m thankful for, even if they’re “small”. Sweet friends, I’ll make the same challenge to you- what are YOU thankful for this week?

This month, there are tons of thinks going on here on the blog. I have an exciting new Featured Blogger post coming on Monday {with giveaways!}, I’m guest designing on another blog, there’s two new Craft Dash challenges, and then of course, lots of posts throughout the month. I hope you’ll continue to stop by- it just wouldn’t be the same without you. :)

I’ll be back tomorrow with a pastel beauty that showcases sewing. Hope to see you then!
