Holiday Mitten Shaker

Hi, friends! It’s Lauren and I am back with a new post and video today. I have been really enjoying the Christmas in July inspiration this month and I wanted to share some non-traditional colors for the holiday with you, too! I’m going to be using a mix of different products but this technique can be easily adapted with a different color scheme, shaker die or theme!

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube

I started with doing some die cutting with the Pierced Snowflakes Die with some light teal cardstock. I then cut it down with the largest Stitched Torn Rectangle Die and the Mitten Shaker Die from the center. This will be the front of our shaker panel. I added some white paint splatter and set it aside to dry.

Using the Mitten Shaker Die, I cut out the mitten and snowflake out of sparkly white cardstock and the Merry Script Die out of green and purple cardstock for the sentiment of the card. When the splatter was dry, I added acetate to the back side of the light teal panel and a piece of purple cardstock to the card base to be the “back” of the shaker.

You can follow along in my video today to see how my shaker is put together, but I added foam adhesive around the back side of the light teal shaker panel to outline around the mitten shaker opening and the shaker bits on the purple cardstock, then sandwiched them inside by adhering the light teal shaker panel to the front of the card base. My shaker bits were made of Aqua Shimmer Confetti Mix, Purple Shimmer Confetti Mix, and Pastel Party Shaker Beads.

I adhered the white mitten die cuts to the front of the card to finish off the shaker opening. My sentiment was layered together so the purple “merry” creates a drop shadow look behind the green and adhered the sentiment to the card.

I hope you had some fun with me today and you’re inspired to get a head start on your holiday card making!

Pink Construction Vehicles + Video

Hi, friends! It’s Lauren and I am back with a new video today. I’m not sure why the Barbie movie was on the brain, but I wanted to take a fun approach to the latest release with lots of PINK! Now, I know girls can play with yellow dump trucks – toys don’t have to be pink. But if Barbie had a construction company, you know they would be all kinds of pink!

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube

I started with cutting the Big Dump Truck Dies and Big Excavator Dies out of different shades of pink and holographic cardstock – the windows were blue and dirt pieces were shades of brown. You can follow along in today’s video if you want to see how I assembled them together.

Next I began stenciling with the Brick Background Stencil on a sheet of A2 white cardstock with Kitsch Flamingo and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxides. I also stenciled the design on the smallest of the Fancy Card Dies. I stamped my sentiment from the Utility Vehicles stamp set with black ink on the A2 piece so it would be covered by the Fancy Card Die piece as this would be the front of my card.

I cut another piece of A2 white cardstock, adhered the small flap of the Fancy Card Die piece to the lower left corner, then adhered my stenciled and stamped piece on top to sandwich the flap in between the layers. I attached the Big Excavator to the “inside” of the card so that you could see it above the Fancy Card Die piece with 1mm foam adhesive. My Big Dump Truck is adhered to the Fancy Card Die piece with 2mm foam adhesive.

For my die cut sentiment, I cut the Large Hugs Shadow Die – the sentiment in white and the shadow in pink – and trimmed the “u” to make the word “Hi”. I started with trimming the white sentiment, adhered it to the pink shadow, and then trimmed the pink shadow to match. I adhered this to my card as well as some Strawberry Shimmer Confetti Mix around the card for some final shine!

I hope you had fun with this card and can picture Construction Barbie on the job with her personalized trucks!

2-for-1 Card Ideas

Hi Crafty Friends! Carly here and I have a question for you…do you feel like you get enough crafty time? Me neither! I’m assuming you answered no because no matter how much time I get to craft, I always want more and I bet you do too!

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube

I’ve decided one way I can at least make more cards during my not-long-enough crafty time is to make more than one thing with the supplies I already have out. For example I needed a birthday card but the same supplies could also make a holiday card…so I made one!

The Build A Gift set is so versatile and a must-have (in my humble opinion)! Paired with Sentiment Strips: Birthday and a color scheme of pink, orange, black & white and it’s a bright birthday card!

Pair it with Sentiment Strips: Christmas and a color scheme of red, pink, green & white and it’s a Christmas card!

Plus once you have designed one card, changing the sentiment and colors takes practically no time at all!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Best Jungle Friends + Video

Hi, friends, it’s Lauren. I have been on a “I need to make cards for my nephews” kick – I love making floral cards, but I know they would appreciate something not so flowery as a birthday card. So we’re going to bring out a few of my favorite stamps from Pretty Pink Posh!

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube

I started with my background for the card by stamping the “you’re the best” sentiment from the Jungle Friends stamp set with green ink on a piece of kraft cardstock that measured 4-1/2 x 5-3/4”. I used the Pierced Hearts Plate Die to add some detail to the cardstock and used green inks to add a little color to the bottom of the panel. Finally, I cut the background with the largest Eyelet Rectangles Die.

Next I cut out two of the Stitched Leafy Borders Dies out of green cardstock and added some dimension with green ink on the leaves as well. I layered my kraft panel on top of a piece of green cardstock (4-1/8 x 5-3/8″), then adhered my leafy borders at a bit of an angle with liquid glue. I trimmed any excess off with scissors and then adhered this finished background to my A2 card base.

My images are stamped from the Jungle Friends and Jungle Additions stamp sets with a pale brown alcohol marker friendly ink. I colored them in with OLO markers and re-stamped the images with colorful inks to give the images a bolder outline. This is achieved by using a MISTI and not moving the stamps to re-stamp them after coloring. You can see how I do this in today’s video! I used the Jungle Friends and Jungle Additions coordinating dies to cut out the images after coloring.

I layered my images onto the card with liquid and foam adhesive and added a few shiny details with Lemon Shimmer Confetti. I hope you enjoyed this card today and I’d love to know which jungle critter is your favorite!

Bundle of Joy Rattle

Hi friends. It’s Lisa Mears on the blog today. For my card, I’m sharing a baby card I made using the Baby Rattle Shaker dies that was released with a variety of other celebration products.

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube

I started with the Baby Words Stencil. I used Catherine Pooler inks in the following colors: Oh Boy, Chiffon, and Wintergreen. I masked each line with Scrapbook.com Mint Tape before inking the line to be sure that I didn’t get any ink into the next line. I love using different color inks on each line because it makes the words stand out even more.

The main focal point of my card is the baby rattle which I used the Baby Rattle Shaker dies. I die cut the shapes from white cardstock and used the same inks as I used in the stencil to ink the die cut shapes. Be sure to watch my YouTube video to see how I made the shaker. I added the Spring Breeze Shaker Beads inside of the shaker.

For the sentiment, I used the Sentiment Strips Occasions stamp set. I love how the sentiment “Bundle of Joy” fits perfectly inside the scallop piece of the rattle. I cut down my stenciled background to fit inside the largest Eyelet Rectangle die and added the layer to an A2 size card base.

Thank you for stopping by today. Have a great day!

Ink Blended Anniversary Card + Video

Hi everyone! Rebecca here with a super easy ink blended anniversary card. To start off I grabbed the Fancy Lattice Stencil and placed it over an A2 piece of white cardstock. Using a blending brush and Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade ink, I lightly blended ink over the stencil. This light blend creates a pretty subtle background for the card.

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube

Next I used the Floral Semicircle Dies and cut both the stitched semicircle and the floral semicircle dies out of white card stock. I held the stitched semicircle in place on my Waffle Flower grip mat and blended three colors of Distress Oxide ink (Kitsch Flamingo, Saltwater Taffy and Mustard Seed) on top. Again I used blending brushes and started off with a very light blend. I went back over each color lightly adding several layers of color and making sure that I blended out any harsh lines between the colors.

I adhered the floral Semicircle on top of the stitched semicircle using fine lines of liquid adhesive and then adhered that over the stenciled background. The flat edge of the semicircle lines up perfectly with the side of an A2 card. I die cut a bow out of white cardstock using the Beautiful Bows Dies and popped it up on the rounded edge of the semicircle. Then I used the Sentiment Strips Occasions Stamp Set to stamp a “Happy Anniversary” sentiment in black ink on white cardstock. I die cut that sentiment with the Sentiment Strips Dies. Finally I adhered a smattering of Clear Confetti Mix (my absolute favorite embellishment to add to just about any card) for some shine! I hope you’ll give these ink blending techniques a try!

Happy crafting!

Celebrate Box Card + Video

Hi, friends! It’s Lauren and I am back with a new video. We are continuing my box card series with a celebratory card for the upcoming US holiday, Independence Day or 4th of July! I kept the card basic in case you are not from the US or do not observe the holiday, you can switch out the colors to make it a New Year’s Day card or for any other celebratory day or event.

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube

I started with getting lots of die cutting done – the Scallop Box Card base out of white cardstock, a scalloped Sentiment Strip from red cardstock, the sentiment from Gift Card Bag in blue glitter cardstock, and finally fireworks from the Big Celebration Cupcake and smaller stars from the Stitched Stars die sets in different types of red, blue and holographic cardstock – solid, glitter and shiny!

To make the stenciled background, I added Blueprint Sketch and Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxides to a piece of white cardstock by ink blending with brushes. Once a large enough space was covered, I used the Fireworks Stencil with Silver Lining Lunar Paste to add the stenciled design. I set that aside to dry; once it was dry, I cut the scallop pieces from the Scallop Box Card Dies.

I assembled the box card together, added the stenciled scallop pieces and scattered the stars and fireworks on the card using thin, 1mm foam squares. I adhered the sentiment to the sentiment strip and popped that up on the front of the box card. For some final touches, I added a few Blue Shimmer Confetti around the box card for some extra shine.

I hope you like this month’s box card and let me know your suggestions for a future holiday!

Creating a Galaxy Scene Card

Hi Crafty Friends! Carly here with a super easy galaxy scene card design!

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube

This card has so many of my favorite cardmaking techniques…masking, emboss resist and ink blending! But even with all those techniques, it’s so easy to make!

After masking a section of my card panel (and see my hack for skipping measuring in the video), I stamped planets and stars from the Outer Space set with clear embossing ink. Then I embossed with clear powder. I repeated that process until I was happy with the background.

Next I ink blended over the embossing with Distress Oxide inks (Shaded Lilac, Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, Salvaged Patina & Cracked Pistachio). I love the way the embossed images resist the ink. It’s magic!

I finished the card with stamped, die cut and colored images from the Outer Space set and a stamped sentiment too!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

How to Make Galaxy Backgrounds (3 Ways)

HI everyone! Rebecca here and I have three easy ways to make galaxy backgrounds today!

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube

For the first background, try Nuvo Shimmer Powder on Distress Watercolor Cardstock. Simply tap the powder onto cardstock and sprtiz with water. Add some stars with the Spellbinders Splatter White by tapping it from a paint brush. This background is perfect for the Planet Shaker Dies filled with Starry Galaxy Confetti. Grab a sentiment and some stamped stars from the Outer Space Stamp Set.

For another simple to make galaxy background, start with a whole bunch of ink spots on white cardstock. Use some Black Soot Distress Oxide with water and add it with a large paint brush right on top of the colorful ink splotches. Spritz with a water bottle and place a dry towel on top to pick up some of the black revealing some of the swirling color underneath. Add some stamped, colored and die cut images from the Outer Space Stamp Set and Outer Space Coordinating Dies. The sentiment can be stamped and heat embossed in the center of the planets!

For a third way to create a galaxy background, try adding Distress Oxide inks over the Layered Shooting Stars Stencils on dark cardstock. The Distress Oxide inks will sit slightly above the paper rather than completely sinking in. Add the Rocket Ship Shaker Dies to create a rocket shaped shaker with Beach Day Shaker Beads inside. And finish it off by embellishing with some glow in the dark stars from the Starry Galaxy Confetti and a stamped and heat embossed sentiment from the Outer Space Stamp Set.

I hope you’ll try some of these easy techniques to create galaxy backgrounds for some of the fun space themed stamps, dies and embellishments from this month’s Pretty Pink Posh release!

Thanks for stopping by!
Rebecca :)
