Sneak Peek: Beautiful Butterflies
Hi Friends! Angelica here, and I can’t wait to share a couple cards I made using the gorgeous new stamp set Beautiful Butterflies. Inspired by a recent YoutTube video from the Daily Marker Channel, I decided to pull out my watercolor markers and distress ink to color these scenes.
For this first card, I stamped the butterflies with Festive Berries Distress Ink onto Fabriano Artistico Extra White watercolor paper, and pulled out my purple-toned Tombow Markers to color with. I used color numbers 665, 676, 636, 679, and a red/pink 755. I colored a small line with the marker, then used a #4 round watercolor brush and clean water to move the color. I dabbed my brush on a paper towel quite often to take the color off the brush.
Once I finished coloring the butterflies, I decided to add a halo of soft color around each image for added interest. I used 515 (blue color) and 992 (light tan color) markers to draw tiny lines around the butterflies. I drew the colors out with my water brush. I stamped a sentiment from the new Spring Wreath stamp set. I trimmed the panel down to 4 x 5.25, mounted it to craft foam, then attached the panel to an A2 card base. I went over the butterflies with a white Gel pen to color in the dots, and used a black Micro pen to draw in the antennae.
For my second card, I decided to use Zig Clean Color Real brushes.
I stamped the butterflies in a little different order, and added the sentiment included in the stamp set. I used the following Zig colors: 021 Light Carmine, 202 Peach Pink, 029 Geranium Red, 027 Dark Pink, 024 Wine Red, 260 Deep Red, and 064 Oatmeal.
To finish this card, I trimmed the panel to 3.75 x 5.5 and attached it to the right side of an A2 card base. For the left side, I added a coordinating pink shimmer paper and a thin strip of gold glitter paper for some sparkle. I completed the card with a white gel pen to add dots, and a black Micro pen to draw in the antennae.
