Support those in Newtown, CT

As I mentioned in my last post, the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut area has burdened me greatly.While I deal with high schoolers at my church weekly, I have always had a heart for small children as well. As soon as I heard about this horrific ordeal, I knew in my heart that I wanted to do something to help. But what?
I logged onto the computer and saw that my friend, Amber at Damask Love, was also burdened for this community and wanted to do something. I immediately contacted her and asked what she had in mind. While there are so many different ways we can help, I wanted to “team-up” (for lack of a better word) with her and join her idea. Amber is a pediatric psychologist and has an understanding with how to help children dealing with grief and difficult situations. After hearing her idea, I immediately jumped on board and am going to do everything I can to help.

You all know I don’t ask for much from you– however, whatever you can do to help this cause, I urge you to. Whether it’s donating financially, sending cards, or sending supplies for this cause, we each can help in sharing our love to those in Connecticut.
While I know our words cannot erase the pain and grief, our thoughts & prayers and these actions of love will at the very least show them others are standing behind them. We are grieving with them. We are behind them.

Thankful Thursday: December 13th

Oh my goodness…..I just came from the 10 Minute Craft Dash #8 entries…..speechless!  The talent on these items is mind-blowing.   • Tina Milbourn– oh girl, where do I even start? You never cease to make me laugh. You always know what to say to bring a smile to my face. I’m fairly certain you’re my biggest cheerleader. So grateful for you!
  • Lisa Elton– I can still remember the day when I got my first comment from you on this blog. You always leave such encouraging comments! I’m honored you have followed me and my endeavors over here!
  • Lauren (readysetlove)– I’m so happy you found me via the 10 Minute Craft Dash. It’s been neat to follow you on your blog and Instagram and get to know you. I’m thankful for you and your sweet comments!

While I really could keep going, these are the gals who consistently leave me comments. I truly am thankful for you gals. You encourage me in so many different way- in both crafting and blogging in general.

Christmas Ornaments

Yikes! Is it true there are only 13 days until Christmas? I need to get moving on these Christmas cards- I’m only half way through my list! Oh my, let’s not even start with finishing up the shopping or wrapping the presents! Let’s hope that this sickness bug goes away soon so I can get everything done in time!

For today’s card I decided to go more traditional in my colors. While I absolutely love unique and whimsical Christmas colors, the classic Christmas always tug at my heart strings. The greens with the bright red….. *swoon*

I am such a fan of larger stamps- especially ones where I can stamp inside of them. For this card I used the Large Ornament from DeNami Design. Seriously love this stamp! For those who follow the DeNami blog, you may remember that I did a video with this stamp last year.

I’ve been feeling under the weather, so this is going to be a quick post. Sadly all I want to do is eat hot soup, warm cozy pajamas and socks and sleep. Hoping this sickness bug goes away soon- it doesn’t make life very easy when I have things to do!

Pretty Packaging Blog Hop

I hope that you all have enjoyed the Pretty Packaging Blog Hop so far. If you’re just stopping in, I would encourage you to visit the DeNami blog for the list of participants. I have a feeling that there are LOTS of fabulous packaging ideas which will come in handy with Christmas sneaking up on us. For those who have hopped the whole way through, you should be coming from the super sweet Lisa Elton’s blog!
I’ll be honest with you, I struggled terribly on knowing what to create for today. Since all of my “good” ideas were used on the DeNami blog this week, I feel like my creativity has been zapped. After creating {and tossing} a few projects, I finally decided on this one. Quick and simple, but still super festive. Also, since I’m obsessed with washi tape, I love how it looks on the boxes.

Around the holidays, my mom always makes caramel corn. Oh goodness, if I could give you some through the computer screen, I would. This stuff is so yummy and addicting- I will admit I was snacking on it while I was creating. While I decided on filling the boxes with popcorn, you could put in candy, cookies or other small treats. 

Don’t forget to leave comments on each of the stops- there’s a chance you could win one of the $20 DeNami gift certificates! With the newest addition of washi tape and the new release coming next month, that will definitely come in handy!

Busy Week

Can you all believe that there are only 17 days until Christmas? If you follow the Pretty PinkPosh Facebook page, you saw that yesterday I did a little bit of Christmas shopping. While I am far from finished, it was great to get some of it taken care of. Normally I’m on top of it a little bit more, but this year with everything that has happened, it’s taken me a bit longer to get in the shopping mood. Hoping I can finish everything on time!
Last week I started a new feature called the “Week in Review”. It sounds like this might be something you all will enjoy, so we’ll give it a little trial run until 2013.

Whew, this week has been filled jam packed for me! In between the two blogs I write on, the videos I’ve been filming, work and planning for the first six months of 2013 sponsorships, I haven’t been able to find much time to create things. Hopefully I can knock out quite a bit today; especially since I’m participating in the DeNami Pretty Packaging Blog Hop tomorrow.

Holiday Trees

A few years ago, I would have never thought to put pink and red together on a card. In my mind, the colors weren’t supposed to mesh– it was a one or the other. Somewhere along my crafting journey, these colors found their way together and well, it’s one of my favorite color combinations now.

Since I absolutely LOVE the current 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge, I created quite a few items for it. Not sure I’ll be able to showcase them all before the challenge ends- I’ll do my best though!

For this card I pulled out a little Christmas tree I’ve had stashed away for a while. One of my favorite things to do with little stamp- create patterned backgrounds with them! It’s amazing how a single stamp can make such fun backgrounds!

Time it took to create: 6 minutes 12 seconds 

For those who are new to my blog, I’m a huge fan of anything sparkly. It is very rare for card to not have either glitter or rhinestones on it. As you can see, this card wasn’t an exception….

Thankful Thursday: December 6th

It’s been two weeks since my last Thankful Thursday feature. Since I started a new giveaway last week {hurry and get your entries in}, along with a lengthly post, I figured you all wouldn’t mind me skipping a week. However, I want to finish out the rest of the year with this feature….let’s get back to it, shall we?

  • I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again- I have the BEST crafty friends a girl could ever ask for. So blessed by their emails, comments and support.
  • Eggnog. It makes even the longest work days better.
  • White Chocolate Peppermint Hershey Kisses. Have you tried them? They’re delicious.
  • New Bath & Body Works hand soaps. I just stocked up on a bunch of them- especially the yummy smelling holiday ones!
  • Freshly painted ink pad storage shelves. The craft studio is getting organized little by little!
  • My Life Group girls at church. Random texts from them saying they miss me= the BEST!

10 Minute Craft Dash #8

It’s time for the first 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge of December! Since I absolutely LOVE this time of year, I wanted to make this month extra special for the challenge. As you saw yesterday, I have TWELVE very special guests joining me today, along with a hefty prize pack. More on that a little later in the post….

As you can see above, there isn’t a specific color palette for this challenge. This time around you just need feature red somehow {a little or a lot}, it fits within the 10 minute time frame* and post the time it took to create within your post.

* If you aren’t able to stay within the 10 minutes, you can still link up your item! While it won’t quality for the winner spot, it might still be featured in the favorites!

 

Time it took to create: 9 minutes 15 seconds

For this project, I used a little clipboard I bought a while back {LOVE that $1 section at Target} and pulled out three of my washi tapes. Once I got my paper sized, adhering the washi tape was a breeze! Add in a quick bow and notepad, and this project was finished!

As you all know, I have special guests joining me for this challenge. These gals are extremely talented individually, but bring them all together and wow, it’s pure amazing. Be sure to visit each of them- I’ve seen some of their items already and you won’t want to miss a single one!

While the beautiful goodness from the special guests are a prize in itself *wink*, I also have put together a mega prize pack for the winner of this challenge. Since I already know I won’t be able to choose winners by myself, I have a special team put together who will help me pick out winners when the challenge closes. I’m already anticipating a super hard judging process!

I wanted to make December EXTRA special for the challenge {since it’s my favorite time of the year}, so I have two exciting things coming.
