Create A Scene: Spooky Halloween

As the weather turns more autumnal, I’m reaching for the fun Halloween sets from Pretty Pink Posh and have a spooky cute scene card to share today.

Create A Scene: Spooky Halloween

The Stitched Duo tags are great for creating window scenes. I used the Stitched Duo 1 and Stitched Duo 3 dies on my card and enjoyed creating both the inside and the outside parts of my scene.

I began by cutting a piece of patterned paper for the wallpaper. I chose a black and white print for a strong contrast. From the patterned paper, I die cut the Stitched Duo 3 tag (without the window frame portion of the die).

Create A Scene: Spooky Halloween

I temporarily layered the patterned paper over my card base, to help me position a circle mask for the moon. I then removed the patterned paper and blended distress oxide inks to create a spooky sky. I used squeezed lemonade, carved pumpkin and abandoned coral, blending out in a circles around the mask. Removing the mask leaves a bright white moon in the sky.

I adhered the patterned paper to my card base. Next, I die cut the Stitched Duo 3 die from white card for the tag and window frames from Stitched Duo 1. At the top of the tag, I stamped the sentiment from the Trick or Treat Friends stamp set with black pigment ink and heat embossed it with a sparkling clear embossing powder.

Create A Scene: Spooky Halloween

The Nature Essentials die has some great elements for my Halloween scene. I die cut it from black card, then adhered the tree and grassy border behind the white tag.

Next, I stamped images from the Trick or Treat Friends stamp set and coloured them with copic markers. I adhered the bird behind the white tag and then added the tag to the card. I love the bird looking in at the window.

Create A Scene: Spooky Halloween

I thought the witch and pumpkins needed something to help ground them on the card, so I cut a piece of white woodgrain patterned paper for the floor and adhered it to my scene. I then added the images to my card with foam tape to complete my spooky cute Halloween scene.

Thanks for visiting! I hope you were inspired by this Halloween card.

Stenciling with Mayra: Bold Stripes

Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday. Mayra here with you today and I am excited to be starting a new series on the blog called “Stenciling with Mayra”. I recently discovered stencils, and I absolutely had a blast creating with them. For my cards today, I used the awesome Wide Stripes stencil. This is such a versatile stencil!

Stenciling with Mayra: Bold Stripes

I know there are many ways to hold your stencil in place. Pretty Pink Posh offers iCraft Pixie Spray (it is definitely something I want to try out), and iCraft Purple Tape that will also hold the stencil and paper in place without tearing it (I really need to try this also). I am using plain post-it tape for now, lol. I add a bit of dot glue adhesive on the back of my panel to keep that in place and then I tape the stencil to my mat over the panel.

Stenciling with Mayra: Bold Stripes

I used Distress Oxide Inks to add the color to my panels. I like the look it gives to colored cardstock. For my cards, I used Chipped Sapphire for the blue panel and Mustard Seed over the yellow panel. After adding the stripes from the stencil, my panels were ready to be made into cards. I used the Hi Shaker die to maker a shaker to go on the card. I used the beautiful 3mm Sparkling Clear Sequins for the inside. Next, I added the images from the lovely Anemones and Sunflowers stamp sets.

I hope you enjoy these cards and feel inspired to create. Thank you so much for stopping by. Hoping you each have a wonderful and blessed day.

Slimline Swinging Monkeys

Hello! Leica here and today I am sharing a slimline card using the new Monkey Friends Stamp Set and Stitched Leafy Borders Die

Pretty Pink Posh: Slimline Swinging Monkeys

First, I cut a card panel using Neenah Solar White 110lb. It measures 3.5 x 8.5 inches. I then ink-blended the edges with Picked Raspberry distress oxide and the center with Spun Sugar distress oxide.

Pretty Pink Posh: Slimline Swinging Monkeys

Next, I stamped the monkey images and colored with Copic E71/74/77. I used the coordinating dies to cut them. I also die cut one of the vines from the Stitched Leafy Borders, three times. I colored them with Copic G61/63. The bananas are colored with E57, Y18/13/11.

Pretty Pink Posh: Slimline Swinging Monkeys

The fun part is putting the card together. I arranged the vines in a zigzag pattern and stamped the sentiment at the bottom of the card. For added interest and texture, I sewed the border with linen thread. I then adhered the monkeys with foam tape for dimension. Lastly, I adhered the panel onto the slimline card.

Create A Scene: Polka Dot Birthday

Today I have a fun birthday scene card to share. I made this colourful card for my niece, who celebrated her 7th birthday this month.

One of my tips when creating scenes is to choose a limited colour palette.

Create A Scene: Polka Dot Birthday

For this card, I chose purple, yellow, blue and orange. These pairs are opposite on the colour wheel so work well together. Neutrals can also be added too.

I stamped and coloured images from Birthday Friends with copic markers, then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Create A Scene: Polka Dot Birthday

I wanted to use the same colours on the background and also add some sparkle. I layered the Medium Polka Dots stencil over a panel of white card, then inked through the stencil with an embossing ink. I used some colourful embossing glitters to add diagonal stripes, then melted the embossing powders with my heat tool.

Create A Scene: Polka Dot Birthday

The Storybook dies are great for creating scene cards. The different squares and rectangles can be used as areas for images or sentiments. I die cut the Storybook 4 die from white card, trimming down the panel to get a frame for my card. I layered the Polk dots embossed panel, then the Storybook 4 frame on my card base.

I blended distress oxides in similar colours on the smaller pieces from the Storybook 4 die, then adhered them on my card. On the larger rectangle piece, I stamped a greeting from the Birthday Friends stamp set before adhering it on the card too.

Create A Scene: Polka Dot Birthday

I used foam tape and liquid adhesive to add my images. I finished with some extra sparkle, using a clear glitter pen on some of the images, along with white gel pen highlights.

I hope you were inspired by this birthday card. Thanks for visiting!

Copic Coloring One Layer Card + Video

Good morning Pretty Pink Posh friends! Heather Hoffman here today to share a one layer card with some very simple masking, basic Copic coloring, and a touch of sparkle!

Pretty Pink Posh: One Layer Sunflower + Video

Here is a video showing how I created this card so you can see all the details.

Pretty Pink Posh: One Layer Sunflower + Video

I love using Post it Notes for simple masking like this card – they are readily available, and also inexpensive, so the perfect option! I used the beautiful Sunflower stamp set (which also has coordinating dies  if you prefer to create a card with die cut layers instead).

Pretty Pink Posh: One Layer Sunflower + Video

Copic coloring doesn’t have to be super complicated – I shared some simple ways to mix 3 shades of color for each area on this card. I also added a shadow around the image in a simple fun way to make it pop off the background a bit – a great way to add depth and dimension to a one layer card.

Pretty Pink Posh: One Layer Sunflower + Video

And finally, a simple sentiment from Fall Scene stamp set, and some Sparkling Clear Confetti Mix for just a touch of fun sparkle!

Thanks so much for stopping by today – have an absolutely wonderful day!

Stitched Strips in A Creative Way

Hello, Gemma here with a clean and simple card to share today. I think this would work well for a masculine birthday card, with the nature inspired colours and theme.

Pretty Pink Posh: Stitched Strips in A Creative Way

I began with the background. On an A2 notecard, I used the new Woodgrain Circle stencil with Pumice Stone distress oxide ink to add a subtle pattern. I love the texture and interest this gives to the card.

Next, I took the two smaller sizes of die from the new Stitched Strips die set. I die cut some pearlescent card with these dies, in green and gold shades. These pearlescent card strips have the look of ribbon but are much easier to use, I think.

Pretty Pink Posh: Stitched Strips in A Creative Way

I die cut the Nature Essentials die twice from white card. I’m using the fabulous rectangle frame on this card, but I’ll keep the other die cut pieces to use on other cards. I layered the two frames together for dimension, then adhered the stitched strip pieces behind – 3 vertically and 3 horizontally.

I adhered the frame and stitch strips to my card base, then stamped a sentiment from the new Simple Sentiments on to the card base. I love the variety of sentiments in this stamp set.

Pretty Pink Posh: Stitched Strips in A Creative Way

I just had to add a cute critter to the card. I stamped a hippo and lots of leaves from the new Jungle Additions stamp set, colouring them with copics and cutting out with the coordinating dies.

Pretty Pink Posh: Stitched Strips in A Creative Way

I adhered the leaves in a cluster on the card, using liquid adhesive, then added the hippo on top with foam tape to finish my card.

I hope this card inspired you to use the Stitched Strips in this fun way!

Jungle Watercolor Card + Video

Hello friends! It’s Channin here and I’m so thrilled to be guesting here at Pretty Pink Posh! Today I have a video and a watercolored card to share! I used the adorable Jungle Friends and Jungle Additions stamp sets to create a patterned panel and then colored the images in with my favorite coloring technique.

Pretty Pink Posh: Jungle Watercolor Card + Video

Take a look at the start to finish video tutorial below!

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube

To create this card I first stamped several critters from the Jungle Friends and Jungle Additions stamp sets as well as a sentiment from the Simple Sayings: Brave stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black Ink onto an A2 panel of Bristol paper. After I stamped the critters and sentiment I then filled in most of the negative spaces by stamping leaves and flowers from the two sets. Next, I watercolored the images in with Tombow Dual Brush Pens. When I had finished coloring the images I then added a shadow with a light gray pen. Next, I trimmed the panel down 1/16” on all sides and then adhered the panel down onto an A2 top-folding black card base.

I hope you enjoyed my card and video! Thank you so much for stopping by!

A New Series…

Hello, Gemma here. Today I’m excited to share the first card in a new series here on the Pretty Pink Posh blog called “Create A Scene”. I’ll be sharing how to create different scenes using a mix of older and newer sets from Pretty Pink Posh. For my first scene card, I’m heading to the beach!

Pretty Pink Posh: A New Series...

I began by stamping images from Summer Friends, Summer Surfboards and Tropical Birds stamp sets. I coloured the images with copic markers, choosing a colour palette of pink, blue, orange and turquoise. Having a limited colour palette to work with really helps me when creating scenes as I know all the images will look great together.

Pretty Pink Posh: A New Series...

Once all the images were die cut with the coordinating dies, I started working on my background.

On a slimline card base, I added some tumbled glass and speckled egg distress oxide inks to the top portion. I also stamped a sentiment from the Tropical Birds stamp set. The slimline card format gives me lots of room to build my scene.

Pretty Pink Posh: A New Series...

For the sand, I blended antique linen and frayed burlap distress oxide inks onto white card. I flicked the panel with water and some of the frayed burlap ink to add lots of sandy looking texture. Once the panel was dry, I used a die from the Stacked Edges 1 die set to cut 6 borders, layering them on my card for the sand dunes.

Pretty Pink Posh: A New Series...

I used a similar method to create the waves. I used distress oxide inks in blueprint sketch, peacock feathers and mermaid lagoon. I added lots of water droplets too. Using another die from the Stacked Edges 1 die set, I cut out 3 waves and adhered them to my card with liquid glue. I made sure to leave space to tuck in some images between the waves.

Pretty Pink Posh: A New Series...

I added my images to the card, some flat on the card base with liquid glue, and others with foam tape for dimension. As a finishing touch, I added some white and black gel pen details.

Pretty Pink Posh: A New Series...

I hope that you enjoyed this card and are excited for this series. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks A Bunch

Hello friends – Suzy here and I’m so happy to be guest blogging for Pretty Pink Posh today. I absolutely LOVED the June release and I went “monkey’s” over the Monkey Friends stamp set. I have a card to share with you today using this set as well as some of the foliage from the Jungle Additions and Jungle Friends stamp sets.

Pretty Pink Posh: Thanks A Bunch

My favorite part of this card is the background. I used some Tonic Shimmer Powder in Catherine Wheel on watercolor paper to get that cool multicolored swirled look. I then used the Medium Polka Dot Stencil with some Texture Paste colored with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink. I just rubbed some over different parts of the stencil to give the background a messy textured look. I used a frame over the background using the Nature Essentials Dies (and they are essential as I will be using that frame on every card here forward!).

Pretty Pink Posh: Thanks A Bunch

Next, I stamped the monkey and all of the foliage from the Monkey Friends stamp set and the Jungle Additions and Jungle Friends stamp sets. They all 3 work so well together to create cute jungle scenes! I used a light color of ink for a no-line coloring look with colored pencils. I die-cut all of the pieces out and arranged them inside the frame over the background. I added a greeting on one of the Stitched Label 1 Dies and tucked it under the baby monkey.

Pretty Pink Posh: Thanks A Bunch

I hope you enjoyed this card today and thank you so much for visiting! Happy creating to all and stay well friends!

Suzy
