August Product Release Blog Hop Day 1

Pretty Pink Posh: August Blog Hop Day 1

Hello, sweet friends!

It’s time for our two day Product Release Blog Hop for the August 2016 release. Many of you have already placed orders, but for those who were wanting for more inspiration, today and tomorrow the design team and special guests have all sorts of inspiration to share!

Today the super sweet Jeanne has a card and mini tutorial for you all using the new Camping Friends stamp set!

Pretty Pink Posh: August Blog Hop Day 1

It’s great to be able to use the dies to cut out shapes to insert into a scene, but today I’m going to show you how I used the dies to actually make the background.  I wanted to create a starry sky over a grassy area as a background for the mischievous raccoon.

I started by stamping a panel of  card stock with the moon and stars images.  I colored them with Copic markers.  Next I die cut the matching shapes and adhered them to the colored images with repositionable adhesive.

Pretty Pink Posh: August Blog Hop Day 1

Next I added distress ink (wilted violet) over the stars covering about 2/3 of the panel.  I mixed a little extra with water and splashed it over the panel to add the little dots you see.   It adds a little dimension to the background – don’t worry if some go across the bottom panel of the paper.   When the paper was dry I removed the die cut masks.

Pretty Pink Posh: August Blog Hop Day 1

For the grassy area I used the curved border from the Stitched Borders 1 die set.  I used the negative side of the die cut as a mask and blended distress ink to create a grassy hill.

Tip: Save the pretty stitched side of the die cut for another project.

Pretty Pink Posh: August Blog Hop Day 1

I trimmed the background panel and framed it with the Scallop Frames die.

Pretty Pink Posh: August Blog Hop Day 1

A few Summer Flowers make great accents for the grass- and there are so many colors to choose from in the store!  Pretty Pink Posh makes it so easy to make!

Tutorial: Creating Garden Scenes

Pretty Pink Posh: Creating Garden Scenes

Hello everyone, Joni here sharing these new cute fox critters from the Fox Friends stamp set and the Fox Friends Coordinating die set. I also used the new Stitched Hexagons dies. Today I want to share with you how to ground images using your Copic markers.

To begin, I first distressed an A2 white card panel then die-cut on the upper right using the medium sized Stitched Hexagons dies. At the bottom of the panel I drew 2 lines using a pencil mark (see: arrows). This will serve as a guide on where to put some grass and dot images using Copic markers.

Pretty Pink Posh: Creating Garden Scenes

Next, I using YG95 and G99 to draw my grass and dots for my ground.

Pretty Pink Posh: Creating Garden Scenes

I added more color of Copics to make it more realistic look. I used E31 and E57 for the add on.
Pretty Pink Posh: Creating Garden Scenes

Next, I removed the pencil marks. For the back of the hexagon, I distressed some piece of white cardstock using Distress Ink in Wild Honey. Next, I adhered the piece of cardstock with foam tape for dimensions even though it’s a background.

Pretty Pink Posh: Creating Garden Scenes

Then, I added some water splatter and gold splatter using the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors.

Pretty Pink Posh: Creating Garden Scenes

I adhered the die-cut images with foam tape for added dimensions. I also added some of the new Tropical Flowers sequins (orange color). I also include some of the Sparkling Clear sequins to finish off the card.

Storybook Foxes (New Products!)

Hello, Anna Kossakovskaya is here today with my first guest designer post, I’m so happy to share some my cards with you and thanks to Paulina for this invitation.

IMG_2018
For my today’s card I played with cute foxes from new Fox Friends set. I like these animals – they always look so sweet! And I used two of three foxes from the set – stamped them, colored and cut with the coordinating dies.
IMG_2019

To make the scene, I cut the windowns on the front panel with Storybook 5 die and placed the scene and shaker inside. For the bushes I used Scallop Borders die – cut two pieces and colored them with Distress inks. The ‘sky’ I colored with pink and light blue inks.

To fill the shaker I took two kinds of the sequins – 3MM Sparkling Clear Sequins and 6mm Peridot Mist Sequins.

Happy Foxes (New Products!)

Good morning Pretty Pink Posh friends! Heather here with a couple cards using some of the brand new Pretty Pink Posh products releasing in just a few days!!! So excited for all the new goodies!

Pretty Pink Posh: Happy Foxes

My kids both know how much I love foxes, so whenever there is something with a cute fox, they always point it out to me. So as soon as I saw this cute new Fox Friends set, I knew it would be the first thing I would want to play with! I mean, look at those cute fox faces!!!

Pretty Pink Posh: Happy Foxes

I also used a brand new border die that is releasing – Scallop Border Dies. I love the combination of the scallops and stitching in these! I used two different color combos – so I cut the bottom edge off of a gray and kraft piece of cardstock so the bottom third of the white card base is showing.

 Pretty Pink Posh: Happy Foxes

Then I stamped and die cut the foxes with their coordinating dies, and some speech bubbles for the sentiments using Stitched Speech Bubbles Dies – the perfect size to coordinate with these.

Pretty Pink Posh: Happy Foxes

I wanted to add some inking to the bottom of my card bases, so I taped off a line so I knew where the inking needed to go – that way I made sure to have coverage where I wanted, but didn’t have to waste any more ink than necessary. I also added some splatters of white paint by mixing some white paint with water in a Mini Mister, then removing the sprayer and flicking a bit on.

Pretty Pink Posh: Happy Foxes

I colored up the foxes, stamped my sentiments, and then used the tiny heart in the set to stamp a random background with the same color ink I used on the white card bases. To make them pop a little extra, I filled them in with a white gel pen.

Pretty Pink Posh: Happy Foxes

Mounted the front panel on the card bases, and the foxes and speech bubbles with foam adhesive, and added a few Sparkling Clear Sequins. Here is a closer look at both of them:
 Pretty Pink Posh: Happy Foxes
For this one I went with a brighter and cooler color palette – the fox is almost a coral color.

Pretty Pink Posh: Happy Foxes

The second one felt more like fall colors to me – the red is deep and rich.

Pretty Pink Posh: Happy Foxes

Seriously – aren’t those foxes ADORABLE?!?!?

I Love You Rain or Shine (New Products!)

Pretty Pink Posh: I Love You Rain or ShineHello friends!!

This is Amy. I am very happy to be guesting for Pretty Pink Posh this month! For my card today, I have combined the following new products (releasing on August 5th): Fox Friends, Rainy Days Additions, Camping Friends and the Scallop Borders Dies. I have made three little scenes to match the sentiment “I Love You, Rain or Shine”

Pretty Pink Posh: I Love You Rain or Shine

Here is how I made my card:

  1. Stamp images from Fox Friends stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Color with Copic markers. Die cut out using the Fox Friends coordinating dies.
  2. For the three scenes, white heat emboss images from Rainy Days Additions and Camping Friends. Then, blend with distress inks. The colors I used are Blueprint Sketch, Shaded Lilac, Mustard Seed, Squeezed Lemonade, Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass
  3. Die cut two strips with Scallop Borders Dies and use them to frame the scene

Hero Arts August Kit Blog Hop

Good morning my sparkly Pretty Pink Posh friends!

Heather here to share a couple cards using the brand new Hero Arts August My Monthly Hero Box – featuring some Pretty Pink Posh 4mm Droplets – such a fun addition to this kit! We are really excited to be part of their kit this month and also part of their blog hop.

Pretty Pink Posh: Hero Arts August Kit Blog Hop

This is such a unique kit – I felt like it was very fresh and different than anything else I’ve been seeing around lately – I started off by putting together a shaker card filled with those Clear Droplets.

Pretty Pink Posh: Hero Arts August Kit Blog Hop

I die cut the Fancy Frame Die Set without the matching oval die, then blending on distress ink in two shades of green. I also stamped several of the little mushrooms and fern pieces in white pigment ink and the same two distress ink colors on the bottom, and added the sparkle star stamped several times in white around the rest of the outside.

Pretty Pink Posh: Hero Arts August Kit Blog Hop

The inside of the shaker card is two shades of yellow distress ink on watercolor paper, some water flicked on, and some white paint splattered over that.

Pretty Pink Posh: Hero Arts August Kit Blog Hop

I stamped and colored the fairy, die cut with the coordinating dies, and then added the included Clear Stickles on the wings, dress, and on selected areas around the frame – the leaves, and some of the stamped images on the bottom, then filled my shaker with lots of the clear droplets!

Pretty Pink Posh: Hero Arts August Kit Blog Hop

Next up I made a more flat one layer card using some of the papers that came in the kit, and using the clear droplets as embellishments on the front of the card.

Pretty Pink Posh: Hero Arts August Kit Blog Hop

This fairy was colored to match the purple papers in the pack, and also sparkled up the dress and wings.

This time I used the frame with the matching oval die, then used the oval die on it’s own to cut the translucent woodgrain paper for the back of it. Hard to see in the photos, but you can actually see through it a little to see the pattern paper underneath.
Pretty Pink Posh: Hero Arts August Kit Blog Hop

The sentiment was heat embossed on black cardstock, and the clear droplets glue on just perfectly with a drop of Glossy Accents.

Pretty Pink Posh: Hero Arts August Kit Blog Hop

Here is a look at what the complete kit looks like.

Pretty Pink Posh: Hero Arts August Kit Blog Hop

The kit contains:
A 4×6 clear stamp set
Three matching Frame Cuts dies
An oval border with frame Fancy Die set

Woodgrain Cardstock and Vellum
Other gems and cardstock
The kit value is over $50, and they are selling this one for $34.99.

Butterfly Hexagon Shaker + PDF Download

Pretty Pink Posh: Butterfly Hexagon Shaker

Hello, Pretty Pink Posh fans! This is Yana and I’m excited to share a vellum shaker card today using some of the brand new products coming on August 5th.

I recently discovered that vellum is a great screen to use for shaker cards. It mutes the background a little bit, helps to draw the eye to the focal point (not the shaker itself) and still has that “shaker” element of surprise.

Pretty Pink Posh: Butterfly Hexagon Shaker

Before I get to the tutorial part of this post, I want to share a bit about about my process. In the past I used to love to use sketches for my projects, I would also make sketches of cards I planned to make on paper (I had a dedicated sketch notebook) and would always use them in my craftroom.

Pretty Pink Posh: Butterfly Hexagon Shaker

Pretty Pink Posh: Butterfly Hexagon Shaker

These days my approach is a bit different. I like to create a sketch by using the products themselves. Photo below shows how I used hexagon dies and stamps to lay out my future card design on paper. I don’t always follow my initial design, but I do enjoy and do find it helpful to lay my supplies out like this. It helps me to visualize and better plan my card.

Pretty Pink Posh: Butterfly Hexagon Shaker

I decided to use the new Stitched Hexagons dies and create several windows in my front panel. To re-create this panel you’ll need to die cut the second largest and also third largest hexagons out of white cardstock that is cut to 4 by 5 ½”.

Pretty Pink Posh: Butterfly Hexagon Shaker

Next go ahead and stamp and heat emboss several images from the Blissful Butterflies set in gold embossing powder onto watercolor paper, cut the images out with the help of matching dies.

Pretty Pink Posh: Butterfly Hexagon Shaker

To help me decide on the colors to color my images I used a pack of sequins, Wildflowers Mix, as my inspiration and watercolored in purple and blue. This is a great trick and it really saves a lot of time when it comes to embellishing a card. Instead of trying to match the color of sequins to your project you can actually use the sequin mix as a color palette.

To watercolor these I used Daniel Smith sampler watercolor sheets and a water brush. However any other watercolor medium can be used.

Pretty Pink Posh: Butterfly Hexagon Shaker

The reason I decided to use vellum for the shaker on this card and not acetate, is because I wanted to add additional heat embossing and you can’t heat emboss acetate unless it’s a heat resistant one.

Prep the vellum for heat embossing as you would paper, stamp the image, cover with embossing powder and heat set it. The trick to embossing vellum is getting your heat tool nice & hot and applying heat in short bursts.

Pretty Pink Posh: Butterfly Hexagon Shaker

After embossing go ahead and adher vellum from the back of your die cut panel, build the shaker walls with the help of foam adhesive, add the Wildflowers Mix sequins (I used both 4mm and 6mm) and closed the shaker with another layer of vellum, you can also use acetate here.
Pretty Pink Posh: Butterfly Hexagon Shaker

The base panel for this project is done at this point and you can go ahead and adhered it onto a tan top folding A2 card base and add a strip of gold glitter paper to spice things up.

Pretty Pink Posh: Butterfly Hexagon Shaker

Foam mount the butterflies as well as the sentiments (I also heat embossed “You are the best” from the Birdie Friends stamp set and embellished this card card with a number of Rose Gold Sequins in all 3 sizes.

Watercolor Camping Scene (New Products!)

Pretty Pink Posh: Watercolor Camping Scene (New Products!)

Hi friends! It’s Nina-Marie here with you today sharing a fun scene card with you, as well as a look at some of the new stamps and dies that are being released by Pretty Pink Posh on August 5th!

For my card I am going to be using the new Camping Friends stamp and die set, along with the newest addition to the Storybook die collection, Storybook 5! I love this new die and how it has a larger square incorporated into the design, and then a smaller rectangle down below. I can see this being perfect for using as a scene panel like I have done today, or a shaker window!

Pretty Pink Posh: Watercolor Camping Scene (New Products!)

Because I wanted to make a one layer scene using this die, I did a bit of masking during my initial stamping to achieve this. However if you wanted to skip the masking process, you could stamp all the images individually, die cut them out and then layer them together to build the scene the same way.

Pretty Pink Posh: Watercolor Camping Scene (New Products!)

I’ll be doing some Zig Clean Color marker coloring in this video; for those of you who are interested in the color combinations I use, I’ll break them down for you below; they are also annotated in the video.

Raccoon: Gray Brown 094, Light Gray 091, Light Pink 026, Light Carmine 021
Tent: Turquoise Green 042, Persian Green 033
Bird: Red 020, Wine Red 024, Yellow 050
Tree Log & Wood Sign: Beige 072, Brown 060, Mid Brown 065
Sky: Light Blue 036, Persian Blue 032, Deep Violet 084, Yellow 050
Moon: Yellow 050, Lemon Yellow 051, Orche 063
Grass: Light Green 041, Mid Green 046, Olive Green 043, Green 040

I hope you’ll watch the video below to see how I created this card! I’ll be sharing tips and tricks along the way, including how I fixed a watercolor mishap (yes, it happens to ALL of us)!

Throwback Thursday: Stitched Film Strip

Pretty Pink Posh: Throwback ThursdayHi everyone!  Amy K. here with this month’s Throwback Thursday.  The idea behind today’s post is to show off some of the “older” Pretty Pink Posh dies.  This month I worked with the Stitched Film Strip Die, Stitched Speech Bubble Dies, and the first stamp set…..Darling Friends (exclusively at Simon Says Stamp).  I thought it would be fun to create a “comic strip” look with these dies and adorable images.

Darling Friends Set & DiesDarling Friends Dies

Throwback Thursday: Stitched Film Strip

I started by diecutting 3 Stitched Film Strip Dies out of black cardstock.  I spaced these across my top folding notecard as I would want them.  I used them to mark where I would want to add a light blue sky for my comic strip.  Using a Tumbled Glass Distress Ink Marker and my Distress Marker Spritzer, I applied the color over a post it note mask.  When I was done all my color, I was able to add my Filmstrip Dies and trim off the excess.  Love how there are tiny dots to my sky!

Throwback Thursday: Stitched Film Strip

After stamping the tiny critter images from Darling Friends, each image was Copic colored and die cut with coordinating dies.  A few trees and a mountain scape were also colored and cut out.  To complete the scenes, I added each element to the “comic strip”.  The sentiments, from Birdie Friends stamp set, were stamped onto the Stitched Speech Bubble Dies and adhered with foam adhesive!

Along with this darling card that Amy has shared with us, I have a few cards that have used the Stitched Film Strip in the past. Click on the photos below to see the original post from the designers.

Tutorial: Window Shakers

Good morning Pretty Pink Posh friends! Heather here with a couple shaker cards using both the positive and negative die cuts from the Window Frames Die Cuts and some ink blending to create an ombre color fade on the inside of the shaker to compliment the sequins and confetti!

Pretty Pink Posh: Window Shakers

Look how the soft ink blending on the inside of the shaker sets off the filling so well – and the Iridescent Mini Star and Heart Confetti pick up the color of the ink that is underneath them – helping make it more versatile than ever!

Pretty Pink Posh: Window Shakers

I started off by choosing my pattern paper, and trimming a piece of white cardstock to fit the front of my card, leaving the pattern paper showing at the top and bottom – in this case I did 4 1/4″ by 4″ – almost a square. Use some removable tape (washi tape or Post It tape which is what I used here) to hold the die in place and run through your die cut machine, saving both pieces.

Pretty Pink Posh: Window Shakers

I chose some inks that coordinated with the dominate color of my pattern paper and used a foam ink blender to add a soft color on the bottom of the inside piece. I used a light touch – I didn’t want the color too deep, and let it fade out to white at the top.

Pretty Pink Posh: Window Shakers

Next, I stamped my sentiments on the outer portion of the frame using Birdie Friends Stamp set, and also stamped the larger birdie, Colored with Copics, and die cut with the coordinating Birdie Friends Dies.

Pretty Pink Posh: Window Shakers

Add the acetate windows to the outer portion of the frame, and then a little trick I like to use to line up the inner portion perfectly – use a tiny bit of easily removable tape (again, I used Post It tape) to hold the back piece to the acetate window, apply adhesive to the back of just the inner portion of the window, place panel where you would like it on the card front, press firmly to attach adhesive, then easily pull off the outer portion that is only attached with that tiny piece of tape.

Pretty Pink Posh: Window Shakers

I used a mix of the Iridescent Mini Star and Heart Confetti, and some smaller 4mm Strawberry Burst and Peridot Mist sequins – I only used one layer of ordinary foam adhesive, so I didn’t want my shaker to have bulky items in it. I also spaced out the colored sequins, that way if things didn’t shake around a lot, I knew everything would be evenly spaced out to begin with with. Aren’t those sequins so pretty and sparkly together?

Pretty Pink Posh: Window Shakers

Add foam adhesive to the front of the shaker windows and attach over the sequins – see how perfectly they line up? To finish off, I wrapped some twine around the entire card front, tied in a bow, then mounted my little birdies with foam adhesive over the bows.

Here is a closer look at each of the finished cards!
