Decorative Ornaments 4 Ways + Video
Hello Pretty Pink Posh’ fans! This is Yana Smakula and I’m thrilled to be sharing a set of easy to make Holiday cards featuring Decorative Ornaments stamp set.
After gold heat embossing this image over the colored one I cut it out using a coordinating die. To pop this ornament up on my card I die cut identical ornament shape out of thin self adhesive fun foam. I decided to use this thin fun foam instead of foam squares as I wanted to pop the ornament up just a bit and also wanted to have a solid layer of foam under the ornament to prevent it from sagging.
Next, I pieced an opening in the ornament and my panel and threaded gold sting through to tie into a small beautiful bow. To create a background for my card I drew horizontal stripes first using a red marker and next using a 1⁄2” paint brush and embossing ink. This gave me a beautiful red & gold stripe background. You can stamp a background like this if you prefer, but I wanted mine to have a more hand drawn look to it, so I opted to freehand one myself. I adhered my background on an A2 white side folding card base and added my ornament panel on top. I also embellished my ornament using gold jewels.
The rest of my projects feature much simpler ways to color or skip coloring altogether. For my card idea #2 I gold heat embossed one of the ornament images in the center of a blue panel. I also die cut ornament opening in a white panel and made sure to heat emboss the ornament so that it was centered in regards to both panels. I foam mounted the white panel with the sentiment over the blue one and to color the ornament, or rather to add some sparkle to the ornament, I used my shimmer pen and added a touch of shimmer. I find this to be a much simpler and easier way to color and also one that looks absolutely gorgeous, especially on dark cardstock. I also used clear jewels and adhered a few where the ornament design allowed. Lastly, I embellished this card using a few larger jewels in gold.
Here’s another variation of this idea – I gold heat embossed a number of ornament on a panel of blue cardstock and once again colored them using a shimmer pen for a touch of sparkle. This ended up being a flat one layer card that is easy to mail. I embellished it using sparkling clear jewels in the smallest size, and added larger gold jewels scattered around the card.
For my last idea featuring this stamp set I used ink and ink blending technique to add color to my gold heat embossed ornaments. I used just one ink pad color for each ornament and simply blended it heavier on one side and lighter on the other to imitate shadows and highlights.
To create a background for this card I used wide double sided tape and white glitter and added wide glitter stripes on my card front. I also gold heat embossed a sentiment and foam mounted the ornaments on top for a touch of dimension. Lastly, I used a white pen to add some white details to the card and embellished it using Pearl White jewels.
