Do any of my fellow cardmakers struggle with creating masculine cards? I’ll be honest here: whenever a birthday comes up for one of my guy friends or a family member, my heart starts to panic. Do I have any cards in the stash that will work? Will they mind if I just buy a card? Will this person care if there’s a bow or glitter on their card?
Recently a friends birthday came up and I needed a card. Stat. I always seem to gravitate to patterned papers for guy cards- probably because I have quite a few that work for these kinds of cards. For this card I found this great plaid paper and it was my starting point for my color scheme. {Love this paper!}
On this card, I used Pile It On from WPlus9 Design Studio. Sadly, I’ve only used it once before, but now that I have successfully created a masculine birthday card with it, I’ll be pulling it out more in the future!
Tomorrow I’ll be skipping my regularly scheduled Thankful Thursday post. In it’s place, I have a post FULL of beautiful things, fun links and a GIVEAWAY!
Hope to see some of you on the Pretty Pink Posh Facebook page later. I just love interacting with you a little more and in depth there! If you haven’t “liked” my page over there yet, I hope you will! I truly do love getting to know you all better and this gives me the opportunity to do so a little better. :)
If you’re anything like me, you enjoy time with family and friends. When I was growing up, we didn’t have cable tv, so we spent many nights playing board games together. Some of my fondest memories are of the late night games we used to play- no electronics or cell phones, just time together.
It’s so easy these days to get caught up in the busyness of life. With my accident, I haven’t been up to doing much outside the house, so board games have been making a comeback in my life. Not only does it keep the mind off of the stresses of life, it’s also a time for cherished moments with my family.
With the holidays coming up, I thought I would compile a list of a few of our favorites. Hopefully it’ll introduce you to some new games, or possibly remind you of some of the ones you have!
As a coordinator of a company blog and website, I know that there are so many options when choosing designers to join the team, or become a guest designer for a month. I am always so grateful and honored when companies approach me to represent them.
I have loved being a guest designer over at Neat & Tangled this month. These cute designs are so easy to work with, and it also gave me the opportunity to play with my beloved Copics. Also, it was fun to meet some new blog friends, too!
I’m popping in for a quick little post. To get my creativity flowing, I decided to play along in the Lawnscaping Challenge #46. Instead of going the normal route of creating a gift tag, I decided to incorporate tags onto my card. Seeing as we just finished decorating our tree and the Christmas shopping has officially started, I thought a cute Christmas card was in order for this challenge.
I wanted to create a fun background, so I used Quinn’s 123’s and created a number background. With all of the fun of advent calendars in December, I thought this went well with the Christmas theme. I paired the background with a snowflake, reindeer and sentiment from Critters in the Snow.
Have a fabulous rest of your weekend. Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you were inspired by today’s little Christmas creation!

We’re closing in on the last part of November and I wanted to be sure I got in my Random Loves post this month. I seriously LOVED seeing what you all were enjoying last month {post found here} and I’m hoping this month, you all will list more items! I was introduced to so many new things and getting to “know” you all through the things you like is SO much fun!
Recently, I went to Target and I perused the cosmetic area- one of my favorites. I just discovered the brand e.l.f. and wow, I am so impressed. Not only do they have an amazing variety of products {nail polish, eye shadows, bronzers, make-up brushes…..}, they are a great quality AND they are super inexpensive! Above is the eyeshadow palette I got- love these warm colors. The best part? It was only $3.00!
After my doctor appointment on Friday, we stopped into Payless Shoes. I hadn’t been to this store for a long time and now I know I’ve been missing out! They had a ton of cute shoes for this season {I picked up some moccasins}, but now I’m regretting not getting the pair above. They look so cute with jeans and I’m already thinking of all the cute outfits I could use it with. Thinking I’ll need to make a stop there again SOON!
Are any of my readers fans of reality tv shows? One of my current favorites: Giuliana & Bill. They seem like such a sweet couple {on and off the screen} and “walking” with them through their difficulty of having a baby and her having cancer has been inspiring. It seems like most guys would just give up when faced with these trials, but Bill has stood by her all the way. This is one couple I’m rooting for and hope they are able to withstand the pressures of having a life in the public.
You all know I have a slight addiction to Starbucks. I honestly love walking into their stores around the holidays, it’s so festive and all the holiday drinks smell divine! Now I’m usually able to resist walking out without buying anything but my hot drink, but recently this mug caught my eye. It’s simple and yet perfect! I haven’t received a mug since I graduated {seven years ago}, so I’m thinking this beauty will be the one I replace it with.
My love of Pinterest has recently skyrocketed. They FINALLY made secret boards available! You know those times when you want to pin something, but you don’t want everyone to see it? Whether it’s for a future announcement {weddings, baby showers….} or possibly to pin items you want to gift to people, this option was long overdue. I use Pinterest for work and this feature is definitely something I’m using already. You can follow my boards here.
I always love seeing what others are enjoying. What are a few of YOUR favorite things at the moment? It can be drinks, shows, movies, etc…. it just might introduce me {and others} to some new things!
I will be back tomorrow with the 10 Minute Craft Dash Highlights and also info on how to get sneak peeks of the upcoming challenge. It’s going to be a fun challenge AND there’s a new sponsor, along with a special opportunity for the winner!
Hope your Monday is fabulous, thanks for stopping by! ♥
My heart is full with gratitude from all of your sweet words about my health update yesterday. I greatly appreciate all your prayers and well wishes regarding my appointment later on today. Trying not to get too excited {like I have in previous doctor visits}, but also trying to remain hopeful and optimistic. It’s such a tough balance!
Tomorrow is the deadline to submit your creations for the 10 Minute Craft Dash #6. I couldn’t resist giving you one more sample using these colors and my Avery Elle set, Blossoms & Blooms.
Time it took to create: 5 minutes 54 seconds
I’m amazed that my “normal” card used to take over an hour and now I’m really used to creating in a shorter amount of time. This challenge has changed my crafting life for sure! :)
I hope that you’ll join in my challenge- I would love to see what you create! There’s a fabulous prize for the winner and of course, you get to challenge yourself {and get a mini workout in!}.
So grateful for all of you……thanks for dropping by!
Before I start on my post, thank you from the very bottom of my heart to those who have mailed cards, sent emails or tweets, called or sent a text, or left comments here. I wish I could tell you how much these things mean to me. Since I’m not able to do a lot, it’s these interactions that make me feel like I’m still part of the human race.
It’s been twelve weeks since the accident {story here}. I’ve posted little updates, but I thought I would post everything up-to-date here. Please know I’m not posting this to have a pity party, or try to get sympathy…..I’ve had numerous people ask for an update, so I figured a post would be the best way.
After the accident I was sore and really tired, but it didn’t appear like there was much physical damage. About a week later, everything set in and I was really sore and in a lot of pain. I couldn’t move my neck at all {literally} and my left shoulder was practically to my chin since things were out of place. After a couple weeks of 6x a week of chiropractor appointments and massage therapy, I was able to start moving a little more than before. Driving was something far from my mind since I was still suffering from dizziness and nausea, not to mention major anxiety over driving since I was having flashbacks.
About a month after the accident, I started to feel even better so I started driving and life was semi-normal. Granted, I was still suffering from migraines, some nausea, soreness and dizziness, but it was bearable enough to start working more hours and get back to some of my old activities. I wish I could tell you how excited I was when I was able to drive to church by myself. MAJOR rejoicing.
While I was still rejoicing over feeling more normal, I had a set-back….a major one. I was driving home from work and then I felt super dizzy, nauseous, my vision started to blur and I couldn’t think straight. I pulled off to the side of the road and called my parents to pick me up. It was so discouraging and I felt completely deflated. Was hoping it was just a one day fluke and I would be back to normal…..sadly, that wasn’t the case.
It’s been about six weeks since I last drove and I’m still suffering from periodic nausea/ dizziness/ blurred vision, migraines, not being able to fully concentrate or retain memories and a lot of back pain. Sadly, my body hasn’t really been able to heal properly since I’m not able to sleep longer than a couple hours before waking up. The feeling of being so tired and not being able to sleep= frustrating.
We are still trying to figure out WHY I passed out in the first place. We thought it could have been an allergic reaction, but after an extensive allergy test, it didn’t turn out to be that. I had three MRIs, an EKG, two blood panel tests, a test for my nerves and those didn’t bring any answers either. One doctor suggested something I might have, but this isn’t a definite answer. Still doing some research and getting other opinions.
Tomorrow I have an appointment with a doctor who came highly recommended. I’m optimistic since I’ve heard great things– praying we can get some answers. Even if some of the ailments go away, that would be amazing. It’s all of them together that make day-to-day life rough.
That’s the short version of the story. You all are the best blog followers a girl could ever ask for. Again, thank you to those who have checked in on me and been keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. It means so much. If anything changes, you can be sure I’ll give you an update! :)
