Falling Leaves

Good morning!

Right now I’m completely in Fall mode….maybe it has to do with the leaves changing and Starbucks having their seasonal drinks? Or maybe it has to do with the DeNami Autumn Blog Hop coming up? Yes, I think that’s the answer. :) I am SO excited about Sunday- it’s definitely going to be filled with lots of Autumn goodness and inspiration. The line up of ladies is pretty amazing…. you’ll definitely want to bring a cup of coffee (or tea) and plan on spending a bit of time browsing the blogs. (There’s also prizes to be won!)

Today I have a fun card to share. Recently the fabulous Lisa Petrella created a card with falling leaves, which I loved to pieces. I truly adore the Large Winter Tree– it’s so versatile! I’ve stuck pears, apples, leaf sprigs, owls, just about everything you can think of in this tree at one time or another. Seriously, it’s a must for any stamp collection. For this particular card, I paired it up with a leaf from the Autumn stamp set.

Did you notice anything “new” for me on this card? Yup, I finally got some colored twine! Got a bunch of fun colors and I can’t wait to start using them on future cards. I’m sure you’ll be seeing various colors on the blog soon….

I hope all is well with you, sweet friends. Can’t wait to hear (err…see?) what you all think of this card. I’m hoping to be back tomorrow with a card, but we’ll see. I’m babysitting for 10 hours, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to muster enough energy or not. :) Until next time…..

Elegant Christmas Candle

Hello there!

It’s time for the next DeNami challenge! This one is a super fun one….we get to use RIBBON! Before I get to my card, I must say, you HAVE to check out the fabulous posts by my fellow DeNami design team members- they are all fabulous! Lots of colors and unique techniques- you will be amazed!!

For today’s card, I pulled out one of the “older” DeNami stamps: Christmas Candle. I forgot how beautiful this stamp is! It was so fun to use some of the pretty Red Rhinestones as holly berries, along with adding them to my pleated ribbon. (Video tutorial below)

I hope that you’ll be able to join in on this fun challenge. DeNami stamps are not required for this one, but if you have them, we sure would love for you to use them!!
Have a great Tuesday! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog (and leaving some love!!)

Retro Christmas Boxes

Happy Monday to you all!

It’s Day #4 of Practicing Creativity sneak peeks- tonight you all will be able to purchase these sets! Hasn’t it been fun to see the design teams cards and also those of the guest designers? I’m sure you all are drumming up ideas of how to use these fun sets. :)

Today we are all creating Christmas projects with Retro Christmas and Retro Christmas Backgrounds. I chose to create some boxes filled with yummy candy! I used the fabulous Square Gift Box Template and then on the inside I used the 2 1/4″ Boutique Boxes. I had such a great time creating these little boxes; they were so easy and I couldn’t help but smile when I stamped all those reindeer. To make it a little more fun, I had to add a Red rhinestone for the nose and added some extra touches on the box.

Just wanted to send a quick remind that Courtney is giving away both of these sets. She’ll be picking a lucky winner from one of the DT blogs, so be sure to leave comments on all of our blogs for the highest chance of winning!

Retro Christmas- Day 2

It’s Day 2 of card sneak peeks over on Courtney’s blog. Today we are sharing cards/ projects featuring GLIMMER MIST. If you follow blogs, you know that this product is super popular. There are so many different ways to use it; you’ll see that in the the PCD design team posts and those of our guest designers.

I have to confess, Glimmer Mist has scared me from the very beginning. I don’t particularly enjoy getting my hands dirty, so this product wasn’t very enticing to me. However, there are ways you can use it where you don’t get your TOO messy. ;) I used the Starfish Glimmer Mist for my card today…..here’s how I chose to use it:

  • Created shimmer paper. I laid down a piece of cardstock on a mat and went to town. You can determine exactly show shimmery you want your paper by the amount of squirts you use. It did take a little while for it to try, but the results are SO worth it!
  • Added it to the lightbulbs to create shine. If you have lots of Glimmer Mist, you could use other colors for the different colored lightbulbs.
  • Sprayed it to a white Prima flower! Again, you’ll want to be sure you have a mat underneath for this one. I first colored the flower with a Copic then added the Glimmer Mist. Since there are so many Glimmer Mist colors, you can have a large array of colored flowers! :)

Be sure to stop by my fellow PCD design team blogs and those of our guest designers:

Retro Christmas Cards

Good morning!!

It’s the first day of card sneak peeks for the newest Practicing Creativity sets! Yes, you read that right, there is more than one! This month we have TWO brand new sets that are coming your way. Since  I had so much fun creating with these stamps, I ended up creating two cards with the same card design- just a few minor changes. Can you see what they are? (Remember the game you played as a kid spotting the differences?) :)

For both of the cards, I had to pull out the houndstooth patterns- I truly adore it! Also, how amazing is this Merry Christmas sentiment? There’s another great sentiment in this set that is awesome too; you’ll have to wait to see it. :)

Okay, so I cannot get enough of the Celery Satin Edge grosgrain and Red Satin Edge grosgrain ribbons… It is so easy to tie bows and I love how they make cards feel complete. Seriously, these ribbons are a MUST for your Christmas cards.

Be sure to take a peek at the other PCD girls blog; lots of fabulous stuff over there.

Also, we have THREE very special guest designers joining us this month…..you will love what they are showing you!

Courtney is going to randomly chose a lucky winner to win BOTH of these super fun sets! To get the highest chance of being picked, you’ll want to be sure to leave comments on all the blogs. Plus, all of us bloggers know that getting “love” is one of the best parts of blogging! :)

Thanks for sticking with me through this lengthy post. I’ll see you tomorrow with a card featuring a super popular product, along with more of the new sets!

Key to My Heart

Friday greetings!
Today I have a new card to share with you all. I recently pulled out the fabulous Key to My Heart set and went to town on creating my own patterned paper. For those new to Practicing Creativity, this was the first set to release and it’s still super popular! (Hence, it’s currently out of stock.) The keys are so unique and the sentiments are adorable! To add a little dimension to the card, I added some of my favorite Bronze rhinestones– you know I love sparkles! :)
Can anyone else believe that Christmas is sneaking up on us quickly? Only 84 days until it’s here! When I think of Christmas, I think of sitting by a fire with hot chocolate and then watching a movie. My favorite Christmas movie is A Charlie Brown Christmas. There’s something about the characters that warms my heart. I wish there were more kids movies like that nowadays…
Well, somewhere in this post was a sneak peek at what’s to come in the Practicing Creativity release. Can you guess what it is? :) You’ll have to join me and the other girls to find out- we’ll start showing our projects tomorrow! In addition to Dana, Karen and Courtney, there will be some special guest designers…. you’re not gonna believe all the eye candy that is coming your way these next few days!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I’ll see you tomorrow bright and early! :)

Polka Dot Hello

Hello!

Is anyone else in denial that September is just about over? I cannot believe that tomorrow is the beginning of October! It’s sad to see the months flying by, but it’s exciting because that means sneak peeks for Practicing Creativity begin. Lots of fun stuff coming your way in the next few days…..

Before I get too excited about future posts, let’s start with this one. ;) I made this card a while back for a publication call and never got around to posting it after it was rejected. After re-looking at the card, I think the magazine made the right choice- it’s pretty simple.

In closing, I want to let the DeNami Design fans know that something exciting is happening on Saturday- World Card Making Day. Can’t spill the beans yet, but if you have wanted to become “famous”, you just might get your chance!

That’s all for today. Thanks for stopping by, sweet blog friends. I recently noticed an increase in my blog viewings, which made me super happy. Maybe all those who used to follow before Summer are returning?

Missing You

Hey there!

Today I have a super cutesy to share. One of my “sisters” (not a blood one, but she might as well be!) recently went off to college, so I wanted to send her a card to cheer her up. She’s all the way in South Carolina, so she’s a LOOOOONG way from home. She’s a kid at heart, so I thought this little octopus would bring a smile to her face. Judging from her text, I think it did just that. :)

No too terribly much to explain about this card…..well, other than this octopus was only $1! When I was in Colorado Springs, I went to Simple Pleasures with my girl, Michele. Got a couple of great $1 stamps, so that made me happy. Can’t beat a bargain! Granted, it’s not the best quality stamp, but it did the trick for this card!

That’s all for today. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog- hope this card brought a smile to your face! :)

Stamps: Look Up, Guiding Light Sentiments (WPlus9), Octopus (Imaginisce)
Paper White, Black, Magenta, Bitty Dot Basics (PTI)

Elegant Floral Christmas

Hello friends!
Today I have a pretty long post….but most of it’s pictures! :) A few weeks back I felt like creating some Christmas items, so I spent a full night creating cards and decorating a gift bag. Let me tell you, I had SOOO much fun working with these colors (and stamps!).
Here’s a closer view of the gift bag. I did some of my ribbon pleating (click here for tutorial) and then added Red Rhinestones on top of the ribbon. Who can resist bling AND ruffles?!
This picture highlights on variation of the card. Did you see the glitter I added to the plaid? I’ve done this on previous cards and just LOOOOOVE the look! Adds so sparkle and makes the card just a little bit more festive. ;)
Here’s the other variation of the card. I can’t decide which one I like better- which do you prefer? This one has the Three Line Border in black and is matted with some Lime cardstock.
Here are a few snapshot of the gift bag up close. You can see the rhinestones better here. Oh yes, before I forget, I did my “fancy bow” technique for the ribbons at the top of the bag. (Click here for the tutorial.)
I hope that you were able to follow this post- I know it’s a lot more than I usually post. If you would like to see my videos in one place, you can view them on my YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe (link at the top of the YouTube page) so you can be notified whenever I post a new video!
Lastly, before you leave my blog, I want to share the video I created on how to create one of the cards above. It’s not my best video, but at least you’ll be able to see how I created the card from start to finish. :)
Thanks for spending some time with me today! I hope you were inspired….. since there are quite a few supplies used, I won’t be posting the supply list. However, if you have a question on something, let me know. I’ll be happy to answer it for you!

OTWC Challenge #26

Happy Monday!
Today I have a bright & cherry card to share! In my effort to try and keep my blog exciting, I’m going to plan on participating in more challenges. While browsing blogs, I was taken aback by the awesome colors in the OTWC Color Challenge #26. How happy are these colors together?!
For this card I brought out some more of my Waltzingmouse stamps; Bountiful Basket Additions, Very Vintage Labels No. 5 and Musical Backgrounds. To bring lots of sparkle to the card, I used Aquamarine Rhinestones in addition to Citrone and Magenta glitters
For quite some time, I’ve had requests on how I create my bows. I FINALLY got around to posting a video for you all! I’m so sorry it’s taken so long……
Wasn’t that a piece of cake? Like I said in the video, it does take a bit of practice. I’ve been doing bows since before I can remember- literally thousands of them. Keep at it- it’s so worth it in the end!
I hope you enjoyed all of this post today! If you get a chance, be sure to join in the Off the Wall color challenge and let Kim know I sent you. ;) She’s a sweetheart and I know she loves having lots of people join in on the fun!
Have a great rest of your day!
