On the Wish List- September Edition

wishlist_september

Oh boy, can you believe the last day of September is here? It amazes me that while it seems that day to day sometimes goes by slowly (especially when one is eagerly awaiting to feel physically well), the months seem to fly by. How is that even possible?! Before you know it, it’ll be Thanksgiving and we all know what comes after that!

Today I’m bringing along my On the Wish List feature for this month. I always have intentions of doing it earlier in the month, but then the days fly by and it’s hard to sneak it in among my other posts. Since I also wanted to share a card today, I’ll be doing TWO posts today. It’s a rarity here on the blog, but there are just some days that call for it.

I’m curious…. sweet readers, what’s on YOUR wish list at the moment?

As some of you may have seen on my Instagram or Facebook page, I recently got some new craft supplies. I’m awaiting another order today and I’ll be doing a haul video. While it won’t go live today (since UPS delivers late in the day for me), I’ll still be classifying it as a September Haul. Stay tuned to the Pretty Pink Posh YouTube channel later this week for the video!

Thank you for spending some time with me today, sweet friends. I truly adore hearing from you all and I hope to see you for the other post that will go up in an hour.

No Scary Halloween, Just Cute!

Has September flown by for you? It sure has for me! I cannot believe today is the last Friday of the month! With that being said,  I thought it was time to break out some Halloween stamps and over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some cards and projects I’ve created.

Now I do need to give you some background…..I have grown up in a conservative home my whole life and I have never been trick or treating. Yes, EVER. We used to live in a neighborhood where kids would come by the hundreds, but then we moved to the country where no one comes out. Honestly, I never got the appeal of Halloween (probably because I think our world is scary enough and we don’t need to glorify scary things). However, I do love me some CUTE Halloween stamps and have no problem giving sweet treats and cards to family or friends!

prettypinkposh_halloween1a

In today’s card, I’ve paired some new and old, along with all sorts of different companies. I recently made a trip to Target and picked up a cute Halloween paper pack by American Crafts, which lead to all sorts of cards and projects. You’ll be seeing more of these papers in the next few weeks….

prettypinkposh_halloween1c

I know that not everyone celebrates Halloween, so I’ll try to incorporate a good mix of cards this next month. A thank you to my overseas readers for letting me know you don’t celebrate it and don’t want to see too much of it. It never occurred to me that it’s just a United States thing. Silly me!

Question: do you and/or your family celebrate Halloween? In an upcoming post, I’ll share what our family used to do on Halloween. *wink*

Thanks for spending some time with me today. Enjoy your Friday!

September Random Loves

Hello, hello!

Are you new to my blog? First off, a gigantic hello! Recently I’ve seen an abundance of new faces, names and higher numbers and I’m so thrilled you found your way here! I hope you’ll stay a while and join the amazing community of friends here at Pretty Pink Posh. If you ever have questions about a post, or would like to send me a note, feel free to contact me- click here for the infoIf you enjoy my blog, your friends might too! I would love for you to share my blog with your family and friends- the more the merrier.

As we are nearing the end of September, I wanted to make sure I got in my monthly Random Loves feature. These posts are filled with random items I’m loving that month. It’s been so much fun to see YOUR lists over the months and check out the items you are listing. I’ve been introduced to many new things thanks to your suggestions!

Let’s dive into today’s post….September_3Many of you know I’m a fan of movies and tv shows. In fact, whenever I’m crafting, I’m watching something. I had cancelled Netflix quite a while ago and just recently started it up. I currently have Amazon Prime and didn’t think I needed Netflix, but recently they added more things to their internet streaming (which is what I have) and I’ve been catching up. For less than $9 a month, it’s a win in my book AND I love that I can watch things on my phone through their app, too! Once I watch everything on my list, I’ll cancel it again and then wait a few months….gotta save those pennies for craft supplies down the road!

September_1Recently, my doctor had me cut out chocolate and since my stomach can’t handle ice cream anymore, I NEEDED to find a new sweet treat. A few weeks back I had a light night run to the store with the girls and decided to give raspberry sorbet a try. While it’s nowhere near ice cream (oh how I miss chocolate, dairy and nuts!), it still qualifies as a sweet treat and helps when I’m in need of something cold. September_2

I recently made a trip to Bath and Body Works to stock up on soaps and couldn’t resist picking up this candle. If you’re a fan of pumpkin scents, this one is AMAZING. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever burned through a whole candle, but I did burn through this small one in a few days. Every time I went to my studio, I had to light it since it smelled so delicious! In fact, I need to get a big one of this scene (or rather several….) so I can enjoy the aroma again!

September_4 With my health issues and the super limited items my body is able to handle, I’ve been eating as many organic items as possible (since my body is very weak and can’t handle toxins). The grocery stores are so outrageous in their organic prices and my friend suggested I check out the farmer’s market. Why didn’t I think of this?! I’ve been two weeks in a row and I plan on going every Saturday until it closes for the season. We have picked up fresh fruit and veggies, fresh cut flowers (at GREAT prices) and also some honey from the area. You just can’t beat supporting local small business/ families and how fresh their items are!

September_5Fall is officially here and I’ve already broken out some scarves and boots. I was looking for a new pair of brown boots (since I wore through my other pair) at Target and while I didn’t find what I was looking for, I spotted these cute shoes. After a quick test walk, I found them to be comfortable, easy to walk in AND stylish. You can be sure I added them to my cart! I’ve been wearing them almost every single time I go out and I know they’ll be a staple in my wardrobe this season.

What are a few of YOUR random loves at the moment? It can be drinks, shows, clothing, movies, etc…. whatever products you’re loving, or have on your wish list, I’d love to read about them!

Fall Sunflower Cookies

Flower-1Happy Monday and more importantly, HAPPY FALL, Y’ALL!

I hope you’re all enjoying the start to this new, wonderful season. This past weekend was incredibly busy, full of lots of great food at Music City Eats, time spent with family, and of course, a little {okay, maybe a lot} of football watching! Of course, I also made time to bake, whipping up these Fall Sunflower Cookies.

Today, I am bringing you an adorable AND easy recipe for Fall Sunflower Cookies. I hope you love these as much as I do… I can’t seem to get enough of these sugary treats, and know my friends will love the little burst of fall when I deliver them later today.

Flower-3

Fall Sunflower Cookies
Recipe Type: Dessert
Serves: 24
Ingredients
  • 1 package Pillsbury “break-n-bake” Sugar Cookies {refrigerated}
  • 1 tub of Vanilla Frosting
  • 1 bag of Mini Chocolate Chips
  • 1 bag of Candy Corn
Instructions
  1. Bake sugar cookies according to package directions.
  2. Let cool until room temperature.
  3. Frost each cookie with a layer of vanilla frosting {you could also make your own frosting, but I like to keep it easy}.
  4. Place individual candy corn pieces in a circle around the outside of the cookie, with the pointy end toward the center. Repeat this until you have an entire ring around the cookie. These make up the flower petals.
  5. Place mini chocolate chips in the center of the candy corn circle, to serve as the center of the flower. Really press them into the icing to ensure they don’t fall out- you might even need a few layers.
  6. Let the frosting set for about 1-2 hours.
  7. Package in individual cello bags and tie with ribbon, or keep in an air-tight container for up to 3 days.

Thank You Feather Collage

This past week, I reached another milestone here at Pretty Pink Posh- 500 subscribers on the YouTube channel! I haven’t been keeping track of the subscribers there and when I looked, I was so shocked to see the numbers. If you’re one of my subscribers, thank you! I’m not able to do videos regularly, so seeing that the ones I do make are appreciated brings me great joy.500_YouTube

Speaking of videos….I have a new one to share with you all today. I filmed this one last week, but since I’ve been pretty much confined to bed lately, I haven’t been able to edit and upload it until today. It’s a short one, but I love the way it turned out- I hope you all do, too!

In today’s card, I’m highlighting two sets that I purchased recently: WPlus9 Fanciful Feathers and Mama Elephant Many Thanks. Sadly, now that I’m featuring it- they’re both currently sold out at Ellen Hutson. They should be getting more soon though!

And now, here’s the video showcasing how I created this card. You just might see the Stamp Press in use {finally!} and if you don’t have one, hopefully this video will show how amazing it is.

It’s so fun to see what sentiments can work together, I hope you’ll give this technique a try! If you do, I would love to see it! Feel free to tweet or Instagram me (be sure to tag @prettypinkposh) or you can leave a comment on this post with your link. I can’t wait to see YOUR versions!

I’m Guesting at Little Tangles

LT21_Badge

Today I’m a guest designer over on Little Tangles, the challenge site for Neat and Tangled. Some of you may remember that I was a part of the Sequin Series back in May. I featured a sequin shaker {post and video tutorial HERE} and it’s been SO neat to see many of you take on my technique on your creations.

For some reason, whenever I used Neat & Tangled, I almost feel the NEED to incorporate sequins. After all, their sequins are what got me on the sequin bandwagon and we all know I’m a tad bit obsessed with them. {Yes, I even dedicated a whole Pinterest board to them!}

For the challenge this week, Little Tangles is doing a color challenge and the colors are light yellow, pink and gray. I pulled out the Fresh Blooms set and created this sequin shaker card.

prettypinkposh_littletangle

If I could change one thing, I wouldn’t have added color or glitter to the bloom in the corner. It looks great in real life, but on this picture, it looks off colored and the glitter messy. Oh well….live and learn.

prettypinkposh_tangles1

If you’re up for a color challenge, join the girls over at Little Tangles this week. I know they would love to have you join along!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a post- what kind? You’ll just have to wait and see. {Honestly, I’m not sure yet!} Thanks for popping in and spending some time with me today.

Fresh Cut Florals

Hello, sweet blog friends!

If you peruse blogs regularly, you most likely have seen the GORGEOUS WPlus9 Fresh Cut Florals a lot. I have owned it for a little while now and love it to pieces. The variety of stamps and the endless amount of combinations makes this a MUST HAVE in my book.

I wanted to change things up a bit and decided to do a little masking with the florals and create a thank you card. I believe I have found my new thank you card layout for the next few months- I LOVE how this turned out. Granted, it does take a little bit of work, but if I were to mass produce it, I could streamline things a bit. {In case you receive one, pretend like you’ve never seen this design before….}

prettypinkposh_florals1a

When I had finished the card, I thought it still look a little bit plain- hence, the polka dot border. I didn’t want to add any dimensional elements, so this was the perfect solution. Also, since I had the mask for the frame already, it was super easy.

prettypinkposh_florals1b

That’s a wrap for today’s post. Just a reminder, TOMORROW is the last day to submit for the 10 Minute Craft Dash #25, sponsored by Lawn Fawn. There have been so many amazing entries so far- I hope you’ll add yours to the list!

In the Quiet….

clarity2

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done a heartfelt and personal post. I haven’t forgotten about them, it’s just that time has slipped away and I didn’t want to give just a quick, half-hearted one. These posts are little pieces of my heart, a closer look into my personal life and honestly, sometimes there are tears that come from writing them.

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of social media. In fact, in the past I’ve claimed to be an addict of it. Whether it be Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, I’m on them all. Truth be told, I’m also on all of them for work. That’s EIGHT different social media places that I’m on almost daily, sometimes even simultaneously.

Recently, I have felt like I’m constantly “plugged in” and these places were no longer places of joy. While I love the instantaneous rotation of news these sites bring, I almost felt like my life revolved around them and it was getting to be suffocating.

With my health issues being where they’re at {because of my car accident: story HERE, latest update HERE}, I have spent a LOT of time in bed and needless to say, my phone is always right next to me. I was getting notification after notification about this person tweeting, so and so posting something new on Facebook, notifications that items of mine were being repinned, dozens of people liking photos on Instagram…. Don’t get me wrong, I DO love all of these things. I really, really do. However, it felt like they were taking over my life and every time I would look at my phone, it was blowing up with social media news.

I needed a break.

I recently changed settings on my phone so not everything shows up. I took somethings off my phone completely. I don’t carry my phone everywhere anymore. {If you text me and don’t get a response quickly, this is why}

Want to know how things have changed? I don’t feel so suffocated with news anymore. I can enjoy the moments with family and friends, without having my phone always in my hand. I can CHOOSE when I want to be connected and not have it always right there on my phone the second I turn it on. It’s honestly so freeing.

I have found in the moments of quiet {or rather not being plugged in}, I can actually think without distractions. I can live in the moment and not live in the moments of everyone else.

Has anyone else felt like they are always plugged in? I would love to hear your thoughts on social media and the pros and/or cons you have with it. I would even challenge you to change some settings on your phone, or put time restrictions on them, and get a new take on life. You might initially be scared at how quiet things can get, but it gets easier, I promise.

Let’s start living in the moment more often. I’m doing it, won’t you join me?

*the amazing photo used was taken by my sister in Japan.
