Sneak Peek: Autumn Wreath + Cuddly Cats

Hello everyone, Alix here sharing products from the new upcoming September 5th release. Today I’m highlighting the Cuddly Cats and Autumn Wreath stamp sets.

To begin with my card, I first stamped the images from the Cuddly Cats on a piece of Bristol paper and colored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. Then I cut them with the Cuddly Cats coordinating dies.

I wanted to create a scene showing all the cat favorites. I did my magic to fit them all onto an A2 sized card panel. For my inked background, I ink blended my background for the front panel using distress ink oxide in Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, and for the shaker window in Cracked Pistachio with Mermaid Lagoon. I mixed Spiced Marmalade oxide ink with water and splatter onto the upper portion of the background.
To create the shaker window, I cut the window using Stitched Diamonds Die from a piece of watercolor paper. I stamped sentiment onto a piece of acetate paper using VersaMark ink and heat embossed it. I then adhered the acetate paper right underneath the front panel. I poured 4mm Sparkling Clear Sequins ,4mm Shamrock Sequins, Jewels in Shamrock and colored fish images, then closed the window with foam tape.

I glued all colored images around the window and embellished surroundings with Jewels in Pink Blush and Marigold (one of five new colors coming in this release!).

Now let’s shift the gear to another awesome stamp set – Autumn Wreath. This time I decided to do a simpler card with a gorgeous color combo. I colored selected images from the Autumn Wreath stamp set with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens and die cut them using the Autumn Wreath coordinating dies.

I cut card panel from a piece of blue cardstock and attached colored images. Then I splattered diluted white watercolor paint onto the background by tapping on watercolor brush handle. I cut a piece of vellum paper in smaller rectangle shape and glued it onto the background using Multi Medium Matte since it dries clear with matte finish. I die cut top sentiment using Thankful For You Script Die and adhere it on top of vellum paper. At last, I embellished the card choosing 4mm Clear Droplets

My third card combines both featured stamp sets. Since all images from the Cuddly Cats and Autumn Wreath were colored already, it was very easy to put together. I first ink smudged the background on a piece of watercolor paper using water diluted Tim Holtz Distress oxide ink in Broken China. Then I popped the wreath off the center to the left side using double sided foam squares to create some dimension.

I created more dimension by adding these foliage images on one and another on the bottom of the wreath. I added this cute gray kitty in the center as focal point. I stamped sentiment inside of wreath and embellished background with Sequins in 4mm Sparkling Clear and 6mm Sparkling Clear.

Sneak Peek: Anemones + Simple Sayings: Kind

Hello everyone, Joni here sharing a sneak peek of the new Anemones stamp set and Anemones coordinating dies. There are so many possibilities with this stamp that I’m sure you are going to love. This stamp set, along with the other new products, release on September 5th.

First I stamped the images on a white cardstock and then colored the images with Copic markers and then die-cut with its coordinating dies.

For the background of my card I distressed the background using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink pads in Black Soot, Frayed Burlap, and Cracked Pistachio. Then, splattered it with water then let it dry.

Here’s another look of this card. The sentiment I used “kindness matters” is from the new release as well called Simple Sayings: Kind stamp set. I also added new jewels in the color Raspberry.

For my second card I used a more subtle color scheme.

I first gold heat embossed the flower image on the set and then water colored using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush in Bright Yellow and Dark Gray.Then, die-cut “thankful” from the new die-cut Thankful For You Script.

I also added some new Espresso Jewels to add a little sparkle.

Sneak Peek: Fall Scene + Pumpkin Patch Critters

Hi, Friends! This is Caly and I’m thrilled to be sharing two sneak peaks with you today using the new Pumpkin Patch Critters stamp and die set and the Fall Scene stamp set from the September 5th Release! Fall is one of my favorite times of the year – the weather is nice (albeit, for only a few short weeks), the kids are back in school, and everything in nature becomes so colorful!

My first card features the Pumpkin Patch Critters set. I wanted to color all the pumpkins in this stamp set different colors – like what you would see at a real pumpkin patch.  I actually really love non-orange pumpkins (especially white ones)! I first stamped the images using a Copic-friendly ink.  I used Momento Tuxedo Black ink and my trusty MISTI tool to ensure the images are scripted before coloring.

The following Copic colors were used:  T0, T2 (mouse); W00, W1 (bunny); G21, G2 (green pumpkin), R20 (blush for critters); Y13, Y15, Y17, YR14, R05 (orange/red pumpkins); E50, E42, E43, E55, E57 (pumpkin stems and squirrel). Once done coloring, I die cut my images and then add white gel accents to each image (quick tip: doing it before die-cutting risks the gel lines getting scratched or becoming dull).

I set the images aside and began creating the card front.  I ink blended a panel using Bundled Sage and Old Paper Distress Oxide inks and used the new Thanks Leaf Shaker die to cut out the maple leaf center. Then I used Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide ink to ink-blend a different panel for the ground and added some color to the Thanks Leaf Shaker die-cut piece.  I used the Scallop Borders 1 die and cut a small hill using the Gathered Twigs panel I ink-blended for the critters and pumpkins to sit on.

I splattered some water drops on the panel to remove some color and I added acetate to the window and in-laid the Thanks Leaf.  I added 3M foam tape underneath this panel to create dimension for the sequins. I also ink-blended the exposed window on the card base with the same green Distress Oxide inks to give the card a more uniform look before adding the Whimsical Forest sequins mix and adhering the top panel to the card base.

Once the shaker was constructed, I arranged my images and adhered them on the card front as desired.

For my second card, I created a one-layer Copic scene.  I stamped the image using Momento Tuxedo Black again and colored the images using Copics.

Colors used:  Y13, Y17, YR15, YR09, R37, G14, G09 (Leaves); T0, T1 (Bunny), W00, W1 (Mouse); E41, E31, E55 (Hedgehog and Trees); YR30, E25 (Trees); R20 (Blush).

I don’t create full Copic scenes very often, but I was inspired to create one for this cute fall scene.  I colored the trees in the front the largest and darkest and when back with lighter colors to give dimension to the scene.  Once I was done, I went through and added white gel pen highlights over all the images.

I framed in this colored panel using the Scallop Squares die-cut with white cardstock.  The sentiment is from a new stamp set called Autumn Wreath – I love the simple block letters.  I then completed the card using new Espresso Jewels. The new Pretty Pink Posh release is full of fun fall inspiration!  I hope you enjoyed these projects and I hope it inspires you to create a fun fall scene! Technique: Smooshed Oxides & Alcohol Lift Video

Hi everyone! Laura here and I’m excited to share a couple of projects for Pretty Pink Posh using some new Tim Holtz goodies!

For my first project I created a background using Alcohol inks in the colors Stream, Limeade & Sunshine Yellow. I applied the inks using onto Yupo paper and then using the Tim Holtz Alcohol Lift ink pad I stamped images from the Wild Rose stamp set to create this gorgeous background.

I created a window opening in the background using one of the Scallop Circle dies. For the focal image I used the adorable Koala Friends stamp set, which I colored with Copics. To finish it off I added an embossed sentiment from the Love Sentiments set.

For my next project I did one of my favorite ink smooshing techniques using a few of the new Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink colors. Using a small piece of acetate I smooshed Tumbled Glass, Crushed Olive, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed & Ripe Persimmon onto watercolor paper. I flicked a bit of white liquid ink onto the smooshed background for more interest. After the panel was completely dry I die cut it using the Stitched Notes die.

For the images I used the adorable School Friends stamp set and colored them with Copics. To finished it off I embossed a sentiment from the Friends Forever set.

Tutorial: Creating A Sequin Background

Hi friends, Eloise here today with a new project and video for you all. Today I’m going to be focusing on using some of my hoarded sequins for a fun rainbow background. I’ll also be pulling in the Darling Dragonflies stamp set as well as the Storybook 1 Dies for a little added interest.

To start off I took a piece of white cardstock and cut the Storybook 1 Dies from the top centre of the panel, I set that off to the side then I took another piece of white cardstock and used some 1/8” Scor Tape to create a full adhesive background. I then pulled out various colours of sequins from my stash and started in rainbow order. I like starting my rainbows at yellow and finishing in green, I don’t know why it’s just my preferred method sometimes. I used various sizes for my background and just mixed and matched as I went. To measure how far I needed to go along and down I placed my already die cut panel over top and went from there. In the end I needed 19 rows of sequins. If you don’t have as many colours as that though, either repeat the patterned again or use two rows of the same colour at a time.

Sequins: 4MM Lemon Meringue, 6MM Lemon Drop, 6MM Marigold, 4MM Champagne, 6MM Pumpkin, 4MM Raspberry, 6MM Pink Blush, 4MM Pink Peonies, 4MM Watermelon, 4MM Orchid, 4MM Pansy Purple, 6MM Amethyst, 4MM Aquamarine, 6MM Cornflower, 6MM Navy, 4MM Lime Sorbet, 6MM Fresh Mint, 6MM Shamrock

Now that my background was complete, I added foam tape around the sequin background. Then before adhering my front panel over top, I used the Simple Sayings: Miss You stamp set and stamped the simple ‘Miss You’ in black ink at the bottom. I adhered my panel over top and moved onto my stamping.

I stamped out my Dragonflies onto some white cardstock and coloured them in simply with Copic Markers. I used muted colours so they wouldn’t compete with the background. I added foam tape onto the back and adhered them over my sequin background. To finish off my card, I just adhered the entire panel to a card base and that completed my card.

Copics Used: B0000, B000, 0 / YR20, YR21, Y26 / R20

Dry Embossing Technique

Hello, it’s Gemma. Today I’m sharing a Darling Dragonflies card with some fun embossing techniques. Dry embossing is a great way of adding texture to a card design. On this card I’ve combined it with the stamped dragonfly images, heat embossed in white. On white card, this adds subtle detail to a background.

I began by stamping the images on white card with Versamark ink, then heat embossing them with white embossing powder. I then used the coordinating dies to add a dry embossed detail around each of the stamped images. I used a tan embossing mat for this, so rather than cutting out the images, the dies just leave an embossed impression.

I cut down the panel with rectangle die from the Stitched Notes die set, then set it aside to work on the other elements. On a white card base, I added a blend of distress oxide inks in salty ocean and tumbled glass, flicking it with water for lots of detail. I adhered the embossed panel on top with liquid glue.

Next, I stamped and coloured the Darling Dragonflies with blue copic markers. I used B000, B00, B02 and B05. I die cut them with the coordinating dies and then used an embossing pen to add sticky ink to the wings. I covered the wings with clear sparkle embossing powder and heat set them. It’s tricky to capture the beautiful effect in a photo but it’s super sparkly in real life.

I stamped a sentiment on white card from the Everyday Greetings stamp set and cut it into a banner. I layered some patterned paper behind, then adhered it to my card base with foam tape. I added the dragonflies to the card with foam tape too, then finished with some metallic silver jewels for extra sparkle.

I hope you’ll give this embossing technique a try. I think it’s a really elegant look, perfect for added interest and subtle enough to add colourful images over the top.

Birthday Summer Shaker + Video

Here is a fun summer shaker card for you using my favorite summer themed goodies. I used the Summer Friends, Sea Friends and Birthday Friends stamp sets and the Window Frames die set.

For a light and airy look I used Zig Real Clean Color Brush Markers to color in the images.  I stamped the images using Versafine Onyx Black Ink on Bristol Smooth paper.  Here are the colors I used:

  • Flesh Color
  • Beige
  • Lilac
  • Orange
  • Cornflower Blue
  • Light Green
  • Blush
  • Light Carmine
  • Lemon Yellow

To create the shaker mechanism I used the smallest of the Window Frames dies.  I marked my 4 ¼ x 5 ½ colored cardstock with a pencil to find the center and die cut twice to create a beach scene on top and an ocean scene at the bottom.  This will create the card front.

I then created the backer by inking the top half with Distress Oxides in Faded Jeans and Peacock Feathers.  Spray with water to create a distressed look.

Line the card front with acetate and then put one layer of double foam tape around to create the shaker well.  I used the Silver Mini Star Confetti, Sparkling Clear Stars and Metallic Silver Confetti Mix and placed the backer on top of the double foam tape to seal the shaker mechanism.

Take the images and place the beach scene images on top and the ocean themed images on the bottom.  Use foam tape to pop some images up and adhere some images directly to create dimension on your card.

For the sentiment cut out a banner and stamp the Birthday Wishes sentiment from the Birthday Friends stamp set (or any sentiment you would like). Adhere this to the card, I adhered mine on top.

This step is optional but since I used a colored cardbase I made a liner for the card, stamping out small images from the stamp sets.  Adhere this liner to the inside of the card base. Also, adhere the shaker mechanism to the front.

Finally add extra bling by adding these sequins all around the front of the card, I used glossy accents to adhere the 4mm Clear Droplets, Silver Mini Star Confetti and the 3mm Sparkling Clear sequins.

AND….If you want more sparkle, color parts of the images with your Wink of Stella Clear glitter pen!

Watercolor Geraniums + Video

Hi everyone, Eloise here and today I have a card to share with you using the Geraniums stamp set. To colour these flowers, I also decided to pull in the Pearl Colors Watercolor Set from Gansai Tambi for my colouring today, since I haven’t used them much and thought it would be super pretty for my bouquet of Geraniums today.

To begin my card today, I started off with stamping out my Geraniums, I used Versafine Onyx Black Ink and clear heat embossed over them so it would contain my watercolour easier. I then used the Pearl Colors Watercolor Set, to colour them in. I used the same technique I do for colouring, start off with the darkest areas first and then blend them out to create a gradient. Watercolours are super easy like this, since generally you only need to use water to create several shades. I used the pink, red and then made my own purple to colour the flowers in. I then used the green for the leaves, and then I’ll use the blue on its own for a simple background. I dried all my pieces with a heat tool and cut out the Geraniums with their coordinating dies.

Now all my pieces were cut I used the rectangle from the Stitched Notes Die Set and cut it from some watercolour cardstock. I then used the blue from the Pearl Watercolor Set and did a simple wash over the background. I dried that off with a heat tool as well and moved onto assembling. I grouped together my flowers and added foam tape onto the backs. I adhered them down over lapping each other to create sort of like a bouquet.

For my sentiment, I wanted to use the ‘Love You’ dies, but it didn’t really fit well and I couldn’t find a colour that matched well enough but also stood out. So I used the Bear Hugs stamp set and white heat embossed the ‘Hello Friend’ sentiment onto a thin strip of black cardstock, like I always do and adhered it onto the card with more foam tape. For a last finishing touch I pulled a piece of patterned paper from my stash, this one is from an old Dear Lizzy pack and I mounted my panel over top and then onto a card base.

This video is so full of techniques – Copic Colouring and how to add shadows, precise stamping, die cutting two panels, masking leaves and more! For this card I used the Cherry Blossoms stamp set. There are so many great elements in this set and it’s perfect for this technique.

For this technique, it involved some precise stamping and die cutting so it’s best to use a stamping tool like the MISTI. I stamped the exact same formation of flowers onto two different card panels. I coloured one of those panels only.

I then stacked both of the card panels onto each other and used the Hello Friend Script die to die cut through BOTH sheets of paper. This would be difficult to do with a manual die cutting machine (not necessarily impossible) due to the intricacy of the die and cutting through that thick of a layer.

TIP: If you don’t have the machine and want to do this technique, it is possible. Cut one panel, layer that panel onto the second one, use the die cut area to line up the die, then die cut again.

I then went ahead and glued both panels onto card bases. I placed the coloured sentiment into the black and white panel and the black and white sentiment into the coloured panel. I added in all the little pieces to give it a more cohesive look.

Best Friends Forever

Hi, everyone! It’s Marge here with you sharing two cards featuring the adorable Playful Puppies stamp set.

I have two cards to share with you featuring Playful Puppies stamp set from the new release. They are of the same design, but I decided to go with two different color schemes simply because I couldn’t choose one over another and I did bunch of coloring for the little characters.

I started by stamping and coloring of Playful Puppies set on copic friendly paper using copic markers, then I cut the images using Playful Puppies Coordinating Dies.

To make white woody walls, I trimmed a piece of white card stock with 2 x 4.25 inch, then I scored it with 0.5 inch interval along the 4.25″ side. I also trimmed thin strips for the bottom and top of the wall and I colored them slightly using copic markers : W3-W1-W0.

I trimmed pastel tone stripe pattern paper at 4.25″ x 5.5 “, then I adhered white wall on it using thin double sided foam tapes.

I cut a piece of black card stock using Square Scallop Tag Die, then I stamped sentiment from Playful Puppies on it and heat set it using white embossing powder. I put a twine ribbon on the tag, too.

Next, I adhered puppies and other small images onto the panel using foam tapes, then I put the panel onto an A2 sized card base.Finally, I added Sparkling Clear and Metallic Rose Gold Jewels to embellish the card.

Overall making process of the second card is very similar with that of the first card.

Here I used Sparkling Clear Jewels and Pink Blush Jewels as the finishing touch.
