Sneak Peek: Crocus Flowers + Simple Sayings: Courage

Hi, Friends! It’s Caly here with you today sharing a card using the brand new Crocus Flowers and Simple Sayings: Courage sets!

To begin, I stamped the Crocus Flowers using a Copic-friendly ink on some white cardstock. I colored the images using Copic markers.  I outlined the petal borders using the darkest purple in V09, then added flicks of FV2 from the border towards the center, blending as I go, but stopping before it reaches the center.  Then I added B00 to the area to add light blue, then went between the blue and previous medium shade of purple with BV01 to blend the colors with each petal. Sometimes, I had to go back with the FV2 to add some contrast back, but it went fairly quick.  On the flowers with filament, I colored flicked them with the Y08 marker first, then colored around it, leaving the yellow bright. For the foliage, I used G03 and G19.

After coloring, I die-cut the images using the coordinating Crocus Flowers dies and set them aside to work on my background.  Ink-blended the card using Distress Oxide inks in Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, Cracked Pistachio, and Peacock Feathers (from top to bottom). I then sprayed the panel with droplets of water.  Typically, I dab it up with a napkin but by the time I got to it, it had already soaked into the paper so that works too! I also splattered the panel with white ink. After that was dry (within minutes), I stamped the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink to heat-emboss the sentiment from the Simple Sayings: Courage stamp set using with clear embossing powder.

To finish the card, I trimmed 1/8″ off each side and added the foliage and crocus flowers with a slight overhang to give the card some added interest. That’s a wrap!  I hope you enjoyed this card! Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to come back for more inspiration! The release is January 8th and we’re celebrating Pretty Pink Posh’s 5th birthday starting the 9th and will have lots of inspiration for you!

  1. Beautiful card with those lovely crocuses in such a vibrant blue! I’d love to see more simple flower stamps and dies in the future. They are much easier to work with then complicated ones.

  3. O-M-G Caly, this is STUNNING! I absolutely LOVE your colour choice for this card. Your Copic skills are amazing and I am dying to master this myself but I am certain I won’t get to this level. LOL

  6. I love your word sentiments the script is so very pretty. I’d like to see more of them. Also, a petunia flower layered. I love the stamps you come out with. Laura

  7. I would like to see “lemons” and “peonies “ and more “scripts”. I love everything from PPP!

  8. when I’m asked what stamps I would like to see – my mind goes
blank. I know I think about a lot of possibilities – but never
when I’m asked. One thing I would like is some paper
that could be used for hospitalization/sickness/injury.
There are a few stamps with that theme and then I
have to stamp the paper myself to make a background.
Would be nice to have something already stamped.
    thanks for asking
