I have a card to share today that was based off of the awesome Retro Sketches challenge #22. You know me and challenges….if I have time to do them, I’m so there!
Here is my take on the sketch:
Amazingly enough, I stayed fairly close to the sketch. The only difference was I added the sentiment piece- it just seemed to bare without it! I pulled out some stamps I haven’t used in a little while, which is always fun. (See the supply list below)
Thanks for stopping by- I’ll see you tomorrow for a new Thankful Thursday post AND one of the special birthday cards I got. :)
NOT LISTED: aqua ink/ paper/ button, moss ink/ paper, marigold ribbon, scallop border punch
It’s Friday and I couldn’t be happier about it. This week was long and being as I’ve had allergic reactions AND a sore throat these last few days, I’m looking forward to catching up on some rest.
If you have followed my blog for a while, you will remember that I used to post cards using non-DeNami stamps. While I’ve sold many of these sets (I still have some left in my for sale section), there are a few that I just can’t part with. One company that I love: WPlus9 Design Studio. My friend, Dawn, owns this company and it’s been such a joy to see her company blossom.
Here’s what I have for you today:
I just love this sentiment! It is perfect for both family members and friends. I went a little outside my usual color palette (not too much- it still has pink!) and added a pop of bright green. I thought it was a fun little addition.
Here’s a closer peek at the main panel. You know me and my love for glitter….I just had to add it to the flowers and butterfly!
Be sure to stop by Dawn’s fab blog on your way out. She has some beauties over there and I know she would love to see some new faces stop by. :) You can even tell her I sent you over!
I have a card to share that I created ages ago. It was sitting as a draft for the longest time- I figured I would share it with you all today. Amazingly enough, even though I created this a few months back, I still think it’s adorable. Why the surprise? Well, my crafting style changes and some of the things I’ve created in the past aren’t items I’m exactly proud of. It’s humbling, and also embarrassing, to look back at some of the things I created before and see how far I’ve come. Ah, one of the great things about blogging….
I have such a soft spot for this cute Elephant. He is fun to color, but he also works great for paper piecing! Since he is on the smaller side (the wood it’s on is 1¾ x 2¼), he is perfect to stamp on your patterned paper scraps!
Did you notice the shiny letters? I stamped them, colored them in and then added Crystal Lacquer on top. It’s super easy to do and has amazing results!
I’m hoping to get some time in the next few days to post some pictures from my birthday last week. My girlfriends got me to go outside my comfort zone and they have pictures to prove it. :)
I hope you all are having a great start to your day. Talk with you soon!
It’s time for the DeNami Summer Blog Hop! I’ve been excited about this one all month- there is something so fun about creating a Summer inspired card/ project. I just love the bright colors that are associated with Summer. *This just might be a hint as to next month’s theme*
If you started the blog hop from the beginning, you should be coming from Tina Milbourn’s blog. Oh goodness, isn’t this girl a hoot? I just love her. If you are coming into the hop mid-way, you can always head on over to the DeNami blog for the complete list of participants.
Okay, now onto my card. For this one, I decided to go the route of creating a mini Summer inspired scene. Granted, while I have never surfed before, I imagine it looking something like this on the beach. :)
Bright, bold colors and touches of glitter= perfection! I am utterly in love with our amazing glitters. If you haven’t checked them out before, or if you need to add to your glitter collection, click here.
I’m going to wrap up this post since there are still spots left in the hop. Your next stop: Tenia’s blog!
Just a little reminder: be sure to leave comments on each stop- you just never know where the winners will be chosen! Also, it TOTALLY brightens up our days when we receive sweet comments. :)
Ooooh…..are you as excited about this new DeNami release as I am? The past few days I’ve been doing sneak peeks posts (Sneak Peek Day #1 and Sneak Peek Day #2) on the DeNami blog. I have thoroughly enjoyed hearing what stamps will be making their way into your shopping carts. Sounds like there is a wide range of favorites, which is fantastic!
Today I have the joy of bringing you a few of the cards I’ve created- this time using the new Halloween stamps! While I’ve enjoyed stamping will all of the new designs, there’s just something about these ones that make me extra happy. Let’s jump right into the cards, shall we?
You all know I’m a big fan of pinks and greens, so it was a welcome change to mix it up with these colors. For my focal point I used the new Halloween Chickies and paired it up with two of the borders from the Decorative Borders set.
To create this look: I cut four cardstock pieces, stamped on them, then adhered them to another cardstock. This ensures that they all stay together and the panel is extra sturdy.
To finish off this card, I did some paper piercing, added our delightful Citrone glitter and then twine from our Classic Twine assortment. Super easy elements to add that really bring a card together.
*Halloween Chickies available on July 1st.
This Halloween card is one of the first ones I created when I played with the new designs. There is something about the Halloween Kitty that is so appealing. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s a bold image and I don’t usually use them? Or it might be the fact that I’m not a fan of cats in real life, so I “love” them on cards instead. Whatever the case may be, this was a fun stamp to use.
On this card I pulled out the new Halloween Fence in addition to the Halloween stamp set and the Teeny Star. Did you happen to notice the great ink pad colors? They are all from the fabulous Tsukineko Versafine collection. I used the Onyx Black, Spanish Moss, Habanero and Imperial Purple. Love these ink pads!
*Halloween Kitty and Halloween Fence available on July 1st. Green cardstock not carried by DeNami
Okay, now onto the SUPER fun part. There are giveaways for this collection! Leave a comment on my blog, in addition to Dana and Kanani’s blog, and a lucky winner will be randomly picked to win this collection of stamps. On top of that, there are FIVE chances to win over on the DeNami blog.
I hope you enjoyed these Halloween cards. Thanks for visiting my blog, and good luck on the giveaways!
Just popping in really quickly with my take on the latest Retro Sketches #13. I just love these sketches! They aren’t too fussy, which is perfect for me. I like sketches where it leaves some “wiggle” room and doesn’t have lots of elements.
Here’s my card….
I decided to rotate my card this time around. Pulled out my well loved Whimsical Flowers set and went to town. {This card also works with the current DeNami Addict Challenge #1, which is a garden theme!}
Recently I have had some extra time to do some “fun” crafting, which is SUPER rare for me. Most of the things I create are for work, so by the end of the week, I don’t often have energy to create things “just because”. A few days ago I needed to create a lot of things, but was stuck in a rut. After sitting for a while (with an empty craft desk), I finally decided to create something that wasn’t on my “to-do list”. Imagine my surprise when doing this prompted all sorts of creativity that was carried out into my required projects.
I’m in LOVE with the Flower Box Window. There is just something about it that is so fun AND I’ve never seen another stamp like it before. For those in the city, I could picture these little boxes as a “garden”, since space would be limited.
That’s all for this post. Thanks so much for stopping by. Be sure to check out the two challenges I mentioned above!
It’s time for the DeNami May Blog Hop! I was sad I wasn’t able to participate in the last one, so I made sure I found a bit of time to play along in this one. After all, pastels are so fun to play with!
If you’ve started from the beginning, you should be coming from Rochelle Washington’s blog. However, if you started here, that’s okay too! Just be sure to visit the DeNami blog so you can see the complete listing of blogs.
With the theme being pastels, I immediately thought of flowers. It’s Spring and I’m obsessed with the Spring Flowers I set- it was meant to be. :) A while back I purchased the Martha Stewart picket fence border punch and knew that I had to use it on this card. Isn’t it a fun one?
I needed a subtle background, so I brought out my Modern Borders set and used the argyle image. Definitely can’t live without this set- it has argyle AND chevron in one set?!
It’s off to the next stop on the hop: Jennifer’s blog! Remember to leave a comment on each stop for your highest chance of winning one of the DeNami gift certificates!
Thanks so much for hopping along- I hope you were inspired by my card.
Oh, I am just so excited about this post. A while back, our friend Wendy started a blog called “Confessions of A DeNami Addict“. I was beyond floored that someone would have a blog dedicated to their love of our company! Shortly after, Wendy introduced Tina to the world of DeNami and she has quickly become an avid DeNami collector.
These lovely gals have done such a fabulous job of maintaining their blog. I always like peeking over there to see what new creations they made. Well, I’m excited to say that they are starting to do challenges now! TODAY being their very first one! Tina was gracious enough to let me join in on the fun- here’s what I came up with.
Since the weather has been SO nice and sunny, I just had to bring out some bright colored flowers. To top it off, they have glitter on them, which makes them even better. :)
I hope you’ll join along in the first DeNami Addict challenge. DeNami stamps aren’t required to play along, though you can use them if you have some! I know Tina & Wendy are looking forward to seeing your creations, and I’ll definitely be peeking in to look at them too.
Have a GREAT rest of your Monday. Thanks for stopping in!

Hello!
I am so excited that I’m able to play along with the Retro Sketch #11. I’ve been following this challenge since the beginning, but I’ve been so busy, I haven’t had a chance to join along in the fun. Since I had a little bit of time to create a card, I couldn’t help but create a card based off of this awesome sketch.
Here’s my take on this sketch:
With tomorrow being Mother’s Day, I needed to create a card for my special mom. Since there are five of us kids, I thought it was appropriate to put five birdhouses on the card. :)
If you’re a mom, I hope you have a very special Mother’s Day tomorrow. Thank you so much for stopping by- I hope you were inspired by this card.
