Sweet Birdhouses

I just came from leaving comments on the latest 10 Minute Craft Dash #10 entries. I am so excited to see many new names already popping up for this challenge. It’s a dream of mine to bring together creativity and people from all across the globe and I’m thrilled that my challenge is doing this. If you haven’t entered this challenge yet, don’t worry, you have until Saturday!

Since I love these colors so much, I wanted to play with them again. I pulled out my Wplus9 sets, Folk Art Florals and The Birds & The Bees. Both must-haves in my book!

CD_10_2aTime it took to create: 9 minutes 19 seconds

This color combination is so fresh and versatile. Since I created a Valentine’s card last time, I thought I would go for an everyday card this time around. This year I’ve been trying to be better about sending out cards to friends, so stocking up on my everyday cards has been helpful.

Wonderful Washi Blog Hop

Good morning!

It’s time for the DeNami Design monthly blog hop. If you have started the hop from the beginning, you should be coming from Diana’s blog. You definitely want to be sure you visit all 19 stops; there’s bound to be lots of amazing washi tape inspiration!

I know that many of my readers are familiar with washi tape- it’s the hottest thing in blogging land right now! It took me a little while to dip my feet into this bandwagon, but now I am obsessed with it. Dozens of designs and colors and yet I’m still always on the lookout for new ones!

With Valentine’s Day coming up quickly, I thought I would create a card all about this sweet day. I have an abundance of red washi tape, so I decided to put them to use and create a washi tape heart.  It’s SUPER easy to do, too! I placed stripes of washi tape on white paper, used a heart die cut and voila! valentine1a

Did you happen to notice the red doily in the background? I first tried using a standard white one and it didn’t pop as much as I liked. Enter in a red ink pad and I immediately had a matching RED doily!

valentine1bIt’s time to head off to the next stop on the blog hop- Barbara Murphy’s blog! Barb is such a sweetie pie who is always so supportive and has great ideas- I can’t wait to see what she creates using washi tape!

Have fun with the rest of the hop, I hope you were inspired by my card. Don’t forget to leave comments on each stop for your highest chance of snagging one of the $20 gift certificates!

NOT LISTED: aqua paper & pearls, doily

Folk Art Friendship

Do you ever buy a stamp {or set} and then forget to use it for months? I am guilty of this occasionally. I have gotten a LOT better about my spending habits, but  sometimes I’ll forget about something I purchased. This card features the set that fell into this category, Folk Art Florals by WPlus9.

I have loved this set from the moment I saw it, but didn’t want to make an impulse purchase. Since it had been about 11 months since it released and I still wanted it, I decided to go ahead and buy it. It’s not my usual style {hence the hesitancy}, but sometimes you just have to buy sets that you long for.

Sadly, most of my light colored inks are getting dried out, so I had to reach for my bold inks this time around. The beauty of this set? It looks great with all sorts of colors!

Have you heard of WPlus9 Design Studio before? If so, I’d love to hear what your favorite sets are! I recently picked up another set, along with some dies, that I’ll be featuring soon. Can’t wait to play with those new goodies!

Until next time…..

Bright & Embossed

You know the feeling that you get when a huge project is almost completed? I have that right now. For the past few months, I’ve been busy working on a new stamp release at work {ie DeNami Design} and tomorrow is the day it officially launches. Months of organizing, planning and preparing and it is almost completed. Come Friday, I’ll be breathing a huge sigh of relief.

In honor of the new release, I have a card featuring some of the new stamps! I simply adore all of these images- they are so versatile and easy to use. I recently purchased my very first ZING embossing powders and I am in love. The colors are so vibrant and they work fabulously with solid images.

embossedflowers-1a

I only picked up three, since I wasn’t sure if I would like them or not. Now I’m kicking myself for not getting more! You can be sure I’ll be getting more soon! Here are the links to the colors I got:

ZING Embossing {Lavender}

ZING Embossing {Leaf}

ZING Embossing {Grapefruit}

Note: I am an Amazon affiliate, so I’ll receive a small commission for anything purchased with these links {or on my sidebar on the right}.

Have you tried ZING embossing powders before? If so, I’d love to see what other colors I *must* add to my collection.

In closing, I want to point you in the direction of the DeNami blog for a look at the new Spring/ Summer 2013 release. We had all sorts of fun things happening over there this week- giveaways, videos and cards- I hope you’ll check it out!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a fabulous day!

Chalkboard Thanks

Thank you all for your sweet comments on yesterday’s post. I, too, am excited to see what Krista will be creating for her posts. She has tossed a few ideas my way already and whatever she chooses, you all will be in for a real treat!

chalkboard-1a

If you have perused Pinterest or blog land recently, you have probably noticed that “chalkboard art” is popular. I can understand the hype- this look is so much fun. I’m usually a stickler for clean art, but there’s something about this trend that has my heart. After a few failed attempts, I finally got the look that I was aiming for.  There just may have been a little happy dance once the design was achieved.

chalkboard-1b

To create the oval, I traced one of my Spellbinder dies {with a pencil} to get the desired oval shape. Next I used my well- loved Versamark pad and inked up my stamps and added White Embossing Powder. Heated it up, added some white ink smudges and adhered it to a card base. After the initial design was done, mass producing these were easy peasy!  Side note: there are NEW {not yet released} DeNami Design stamps on these cards, along with a WPlus9 sentiment.

Have you tried the chalkboard art look yet? If so, I’d love to see! Feel free to leave your link(s) in a comment below and I’ll take a peek at what you created.

Just a reminder: TODAY is the last day to submit your item(s) for the 10  Minute Craft Dash #9. We are almost to 100 entries, which was one of my goals for 2013! How neat would it be to achieve a goal within three days of the new year?! Words can’t describe how ecstatic I would be if I met this goal. :)

I’m so thrilled you have stopped by today! I’ll talk with you all soon…..

Creating for Drawn Together

Yesterday I posted about the fundraiser that Amber is putting together called Drawn Together. This is a great cause that I think will go far in the lives of the community & children of Newtown, Connecticut.

In my effort to donate some cards, in addition to other items, I sat down and made some cards on Saturday. I haven’t created in quite a while {since I’ve been sick}, so my creativity has gone MIA. In addition, just knowing that these cards will go to those affected by this tragedy, I couldn’t help but break down a few times while making items. There still are no words….

Since I know that bright colors tend to cheer me up, I tried incorporating them into the cards I’m making. I pulled out some patterned papers and the Lawn Fawn set, Critters in the Forest, to create this card.

I’ve hoarded quite a bit of patterned paper that I love, but haven’t been able to figure out what to use them on. Enter this special cause. I’m looking forward to using them to bless others and with many of them being bright colors, I hope they’ll bring a shimmer of light into the lives of those in CT.

I’ll be back tomorrow for my Random Loves feature for December. Hope you’ll be able to join me and list some of the things you’ve been enjoying this month!

Christmas Ornaments

Yikes! Is it true there are only 13 days until Christmas? I need to get moving on these Christmas cards- I’m only half way through my list! Oh my, let’s not even start with finishing up the shopping or wrapping the presents! Let’s hope that this sickness bug goes away soon so I can get everything done in time!

For today’s card I decided to go more traditional in my colors. While I absolutely love unique and whimsical Christmas colors, the classic Christmas always tug at my heart strings. The greens with the bright red….. *swoon*

I am such a fan of larger stamps- especially ones where I can stamp inside of them. For this card I used the Large Ornament from DeNami Design. Seriously love this stamp! For those who follow the DeNami blog, you may remember that I did a video with this stamp last year.

Click here to view the blog post and video.

Well, dearies, that’s going to wrap up this blog post. I’m so grateful you stopped by today. These past few days you all have left some of the SWEETEST comments- I feel so blessed. Thank you for making me a part of your day; hope you leave inspired!

Mad for Plaid

Do any of my fellow cardmakers struggle with creating masculine cards? I’ll be honest here: whenever a birthday comes up for one of my guy friends or a family member, my heart starts to panic. Do I have any cards in the stash that will work? Will they mind if I just buy a card? Will this person care if there’s a bow or glitter on their card?

Recently a friends birthday came up and I needed a card. Stat. I always seem to gravitate to patterned papers for guy cards- probably because I have quite a few that work for these kinds of cards. For this card I found this great plaid paper and it was my starting point for my color scheme. {Love this paper!}

On this card, I used Pile It On from WPlus9 Design Studio. Sadly, I’ve only used it once before, but now that I have successfully created a masculine birthday card with it, I’ll be pulling it out more in the future!

Tomorrow I’ll be skipping my regularly scheduled Thankful Thursday post. In it’s place, I have a post FULL of beautiful things, fun links and a GIVEAWAY!

Hope to see some of you on the Pretty Pink Posh Facebook page later. I just love interacting with you a little more and in depth there! If you haven’t “liked” my page over there yet, I hope you will! I truly do love getting to know you all better and this gives me the opportunity to do so a little better. :)

See you all tomorrow. Have a fabulous Wednesday!

Winter Reindeer

Hi there!

I’m popping in for a quick little post. To get my creativity flowing, I decided to play along in the Lawnscaping Challenge #46. Instead of going the normal route of creating a gift tag, I decided to incorporate tags onto my card.  Seeing as we just finished decorating our tree and the Christmas shopping has officially started, I thought a cute Christmas card was in order for this challenge.

I wanted to create a fun background, so I used Quinn’s 123’s and created a number background. With all of the fun of advent calendars in December, I thought this went well with the Christmas theme.  I paired the background with a snowflake, reindeer and sentiment from Critters in the Snow.

Have a fabulous rest of your weekend. Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you were inspired by today’s little Christmas creation!

Until next time…..

Full of Gratitude

My heart is full with gratitude from all of your sweet words about my health update yesterday. I greatly appreciate all your prayers and well wishes regarding my appointment later on today. Trying not to get too excited {like I have in previous doctor visits}, but also trying to remain hopeful and optimistic. It’s such a tough balance!

Tomorrow is the deadline to submit your creations for the 10 Minute Craft Dash #6. I couldn’t resist giving you one more sample using these colors and my Avery Elle set, Blossoms & Blooms.

Time it took to create: 5 minutes 54 seconds

I’m amazed that my “normal” card used to take over an hour and now I’m really used to creating in a shorter amount of time. This challenge has changed my crafting life for sure! :)

I hope that you’ll join in my challenge- I would love to see what you create! There’s a fabulous prize for the winner and of course, you get to challenge yourself {and get a mini workout in!}.

So grateful for all of you……thanks for dropping by!
