Ladybug Heart Card

Hello everyone, it’s June! I’m back again with another card featuring ladybugs, this time not the shaker like last time, but the new Lovely Ladybugs stamp set.

I wanted to use another product from the new release as a center piece: the Heart Card Base. It doesn’t have to be used as a standalone card base, it can also be a fun interactive element on a regular A2 card. I cut it out twice so I could stack them together, that way I could add a different color on the inside and still have the pretty side of the die cut visible. I used 2 shades of beige for the outside and added brown ink splatters, and for the inside I did just red ink splatters on a white base. I cut the inside heart from beige cardstock aswel and also added the splatters. For the border around it, I masked off the flaps and used the Candy Cane Stripes stencil to create a fun pink stripe.

To decorate my heart card, I added ladybugs and trails from the Lovely Ladybugs set and also used the ‘Bugs and Kisses’ sentiment that’s included to create a little tab to grab onto. I sprinkled some flowers from the Friend Greetings stamp set around the card as well. I stamped all of the images in brown ink (except for the sentiment) so it would look a bit softer. I positioned them on the inside in a way that would leave a bit of room to write a message.

For the background, I blended a very soft shade of pink and used the Line Bursts stencil to create a tone-on-tone background. I also added some pink ink splatters. It’s all very subtle, but it adds a lot of texture. I also cut a frame from brown cardstock using the Wonky Stitched Rectangles and layered that on top.

I adhered my heart card base onto an Eyelet Oval and added that on top of my background. To finish it off, I used the brown ink again to stamp more flowers and vines from the Friend Greetings stamp set to create a border on the top and bottom of my card. I love how the brown ink, soft colors and florals made it look a bit vintage-y!

And that’s it for now! I hope everyone has been enjoying seeing what the Design Team has created for this release. See you again soon with another blog post, bye!
