Merry Holiday Ornaments
Hi there! Leanne here and I’m excited to be back on the Pretty Pink Posh blog. I’m sharing an ornament filled mini slimline card. I used the Build An Ornament die set to create my ornaments in four different styles. I’ll share a fun way to color and add lots of interest to them.
For this card I started with a mini slimline card base (6.25″ long x 3.5″ wide). I blended on minty green ink to the card front. I applied it heavier towards the top and lighter towards the bottom to where it fades to white. I then splatted with gold water color paint. I created a pine garland to add to the top of the card. I used a pine sprig die included in the Winter Foliage die set. I die cut 5 pine sprigs to cover the length of the card. Before I adhered them, I splattered with white paint.
I used all four ornament shapes included in the Build An Ornament set and die cut them from heavy weight white card stock. To color I sprayed them with Distress Mica Stains in the following colors: Cocktail Party, Wicked Elixir, Sugary Gumdrop, and Frosty Mint. The Mica Stain gives them a speckled look and lots of shimmer. Unfortunately the photo does not do justice to the shimmer from the Mica Stain application. It’s so pretty in person. After the Mica Stain was dry, I splattered the ornaments with white paint to add to their speckled look.
There are dies included with the Build An Ornament set to embellish the ornaments even further. I die cut these pieces from silver glitter card stock. I also added ornament toppers, die cut from metallic silver card stock. I tied on some bows and then arranged the ornaments to cover the length of the card.
To complete this card design, I added a greeting with a stamp included in the Winter Greetings set which also has coordinating dies. Lastly I added my go to embellishment, Sparkling Clear Sequins.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card and it inspired you. Thanks for stopping by!
This is so lovely! Reminds me of beaded ornaments that I have. TFS –
