Wonderfully Whimsical

Yippee, it’s Friday! Today is the start of my weekend and I have lots planned. I’m thrilled that I get to sleep in, gets crafty projects done, go to a training session with my PT and then see Iron Man 2 with my dad! I don’t get to spend too much time with my dad, so I’m excited for this “dad- daughter date”.

Okay, moving onto the card….I brought out two new stamp sets for this one. I just received my newly released Design Basics: Background 1 from WPlus9 and had to play with it right away. This set is so versatile and super fun! A while back I bought the Wonderfully Whimsical but never got around to using it. I thought these two sets would go together well, wonderfully. I wasn’t planning on using Christmas-type colors, but it ended up that way. Just goes to show you that I really don’t plan my cards- I totally go with my creative flow.

Thanks to those who left a comment on my Fancy Bow Tutorial post. I can’t wait to see your cards featuring this technique! When you create one, be sure to let me know so I can check it out! Also, if you have any requests for future tutorials, be sure to pass them along.

If you haven’t already, be sure to sign up for my $50 gift certificate giveaway!

Thanks for stopping by- I hope I inspired you. Have a super fabulous day!

Video Tutorial – Appearances

Good morning!

I can now say that I have gone two whole days without a migraine- such a relief! I almost forgot what it was like have a “normal” day and be able to concentrate and work without being in excruciating pain. Thank you again for your well wishes and prayers!

Today I am super excited to be bringing you my first video tutorial. After receiving numerous requests on how I do my “fancy bow”, I decided to do a short & simple video. I had hopes of bringing this to you weeks ago, but I had video camera issues and then major troubles converting the file and editing. Two days ago I finally sat down (with my mom) and we were able to work out the technical problems. I’m hoping that if I decide to do another video, I won’t have so much trouble (or camera nerves!).

In other exciting news, I will be at four shows in the next four months. I have the privilege of traveling with my job and these are the places I’ll be:  -May 16- Puyallup, Washington ::::: Info on this show can be found here. -June 19 & 20- Orlando, Florida ::::: Info on this show can be found here. -July 30 & 31- Rosemont, Illinois ::::: Info on this show can be found here. -August 21 & 22- Colorado Springs, Colorado ::::: Info on this show can be found here. I’ll be helping at the DeNami Design booth for all of these shows- I hope you’ll stop by! Since I am working these shows, I won’t really be able to chat for long….but I hope you will visit the booth and say hello! I’ll be bringing my camera and I hope to take pictures with some of my blog readers/ friends! Well, I hope you enjoyed the tutorial! If you have suggestions for future ones, I’ll mark them in my notebook! No guarantees that it’ll be made, but I’ll do my best. ;) Have a fabulous day, sweet friends!

DeNami Color Challenge #2

**This is my second post today. Be sure to scroll down for my Practicing Creativity card!**

Yay! It’s time for another DeNami Design challenge! I just love when the 5th and 20th comes around….it’s always guaranteed to be full of inspiration from my fellow DeNami DT members!

For this challenge, Beka chose some FABULOUS colors. Who could resist White, Black, Magenta, Lime and Aquamarine? It’s so fresh and yummy! I decided to stick with a fairly simple card design- I really wanted the trees to shine. Can I just say that I LOVE these trees? You can color, glitter, emboss or leave them plain and they always look amazing. I recently made a card featuring these trees but used a warm Fall color scheme. Talk about versatile stamps!

I hope you’ll play along with this challenge- it’s definitely a fun one. This week there is a prize for the winner- a $30 DeNami gift certificate and of course, the Fabulous 3 Spotlight badge. :) Can’t wait to see what you create!

Just in case you missed the news yesterday, I have reached 200 followers on my blog! To celebrate this special achievement I’m hosting a $50 gift certificate giveaway!

Love You

Happy Wednesday!

Today I am excited to share a project featuring FOUR Practicing Creativity stamp sets. Yes, I was able to incorporate all of the sets I own from Courtney into this one card! Not going to lie, I was super proud of myself on accomplishing this. It wasn’t hard for the older sets but I was stuck when it came to You’re the Man.

Here’s a breakdown of the stamp sets:

Key to my Heart– locket
You’re Dandy– Sun rays
Look Up– Cloud-like design
You’re the Man (available May 6th)– “love you” sentiment & solid tire background

When I finished my card I felt like it needed a little more “oomph”. I pondered and finally decided to do paper piercing. It was a ton of work but I think it really makes the card. :)

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll be back with my DeNami Design challenge card shortly!

Stamps: You’re the Man (available May 6th), Key to my Heart, Look Up, You’re Dandy
Paper: Sweet Blush, Dark Chocolate, White
Ink: Vintage Sepia, Sweet Blush

Other: pink rhinestones, Copics, paper piercer

2 Sketches 4 You- Laura’s Sketch #51

Thank you
to everyone who wished me good health in my last post….I think it’s working! I had a migraine for most of yesterday but it slowly diminished as the day went along. Hoping and praying that it doesn’t return in the near future. I can deal with it for one day, but when it last for days, it just gets uncomfortable and frustrating.

Okay, I know that I just used these stamps, but I just can’t get enough! This time around I went with the fun Aqua, Hawaiian Shores, Spring Moss and Kraft color combination. It’s been a while since I played along with 2 Sketches 4 You (in non-DT capacity), so I thought it was time to give it a whirl again. ;) Laura designed a fairly simple sketch so I was able to get creative. Love how sketches can launch so many creative juices!

I have reached 200 followers!

Floral Thanks

Hello there!

I hope you all had a great weekend. Sadly, I had a pretty miserable one. I have had a migraine for the past 6 days, which has been a pain. I’ve kicked Diet Coke to the curb (again) and am really, really feeling the effects. On top of all this, my body is fighting a bug so I’ve been sleeping a lot. I feel so out of it- a feeling that I absolutely hate. I would so appreciate your prayers and/or thoughts!

For today’s card I brought out the fabulous Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions stamp set. When I bought this set I was really looking forward to using the leaves….little did I realize I would fall in love with the flowers! I’m not exactly sure what kind of flowers these are- does anyone know? I brought out my Copics and of course, some polka dots, scallops and a button. Normally these colors are associated with Valentine’s Day, but I don’t think that’s the only time you can use them! I just love how cheerful and vibrant they are….this is a color combo I’ve been using a ton recently. :)

I hope your week gets off to a great start! This week I’m hoping to get to 200 followers- that’s when I’ll be doing my next giveaway! If you haven’t become a (public) follower, be sure to do so!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you were inspired.

Practicing Creativity May Release

Good morning!

Today I get to bring you the first set of cards featuring the new Practicing Creativity stamps! This set is perfect for the guys in your life- just in time for Father’s Day in June!

My first card features just a few of the cool designs from You’re the Man. When I first saw this background design, I knew I just had to bring out my markers. I kept this design simple since most guys don’t like “fussy” cards. :) I was originally going to stick with a gray, black and white color combination but I thought it needed a pop of color. I added the Hawaiian Shores grosgrain ribbon which was just the perfect touch. Can you believe it? No bow for this card! *gasp*

This next card is still fairly masculine but it definitely has a “Paulina” touch to it. ;) I used the solid tire tread design for this card and the awesome Happy Birthday sentiment. Do you recognize the argyle and cloud-like shape? Those are from Key to my Heart and Look Up! I love how easy it is to mix and match Courtney’s sets! Just wait until you see my card on the 5th- I was able to incorporate FOUR of her sets into one card. Pretty excited about that one….

Well, I hope this got you excited about You’re the Man! Be sure to stop by Courtney’s blog to see her cards & videos and then visit Alice’s blog tomorrow! She’ll be bringing you her creations using this set!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a fabulous day!

National Scrapbooking Day

Happy National Scrapbooking Day, dear friends!

I’m so glad you have stopped by my blog today! As most of you know, I’m a huge rubber stamper, very rarely do I ever scrapbook. I think it’s the fact that a single page can take so long time to create. Back in the day, 12 x 12 was the “standard” size of scrapbooks….now things have changed. Today I have some fun 6 x 6 pages showcasing DeNami Design rubber stamps.

For my first layout, I wanted to do something fun and whimsical. As we all know, I LOVE polka dots, so they HAD to be included at least somewhere. :) I stamped the Small Solid Circle all over the background- LOVE it! For the fun lines I used the Stitched Border and added some fun embellies featuring the Large Open Umbrella. This stamp is so great….you can paper piece, color, glitter, etc.!

I just recently started played around with the Polka Dot Border and was able to create this super fun background! It definitely took a little bit of practice, but it’s definitely possible to create large polka dot backgrounds with this stamp! Did you happen to notice the “frames” around the photos? That is actually the Med. Double Line Square! I must admit, I was pretty happy with myself on this layout. :)

I had so much fun working on these layouts! It definitely prompted some thoughts of getting back into scrapbooking. The 6 x 6 pages definitely aren’t as intimidating.

In honor of this fun day, DeNami Design is bringing you a special coupon! The Bella Press papers are high quality 12 x 12 sheets- they come in beautiful colors and coordinate with our accessories and stamps beautifully! Click here to view the whole collection of bulk scrapbook papers.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope these pages inspired you to incorporate stamping into your scrapbook pages!

DT Announcement

Hi, sweet friends!

Wow, you all have SHOWERED me with comments on the last post– love reading them all! Seriously, receiving comments is one of my most favorite things about blogging…I should make a badge with “will blog for comments” on it. :)

Today I am super excited to be sharing some news with you. I am a part of the Practicing Creativity design team! You know that I’m a huge fan of Courtney’s work and I couldn’t help but apply when her design team call went out. I’m not going to lie, I did a happy dance when I received the email that I got accepted. I’m so excited to get to work with Courtney and also Dana and Alice. These next three months are going to be so much fun!

I couldn’t resist creating a card using a couple of Courtney’s sets- had to show you how fun they are! :) For this one I used Key to my Heart and Look Up. I simply adore how you can create your own argyle pattern- so chic! You may remember me doing it here and here and here.

Thanks to those of you who have encouraged me in my card making journey- your sweet compliments have helped me pursue my dreams and pushed me to try new things! One being trying out for design teams! :) You all are fabulous…..

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you were inspired!
