Color Challenge #37

This week Kristina was a little late in posting her challenge…but that made me happy! It’s usually hard for me to find time to do a card in the middle of the week, but with the extended deadline, I was able to participate! Here’s my card with this weeks Color Challenge. This definitely was a little challenging for me- these aren’t my normal colors. After seeing all the GORGEOUS cards from last weeks challenge, I was itching to participate again. I was so bummed that I didn’t get a chance to work with the pinks, green and white. Those are MY colors! I have to say, it was just as fun looking through the submissions….and a lot less mess to clean up afterwards! ;-) I’m hoping to have a chance to play with these colors again before the deadline comes. Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

2 Sketches 4 You- Kazan’s Sketch #17

I’m so glad that the snow has finally melted- makes me feel like I have a life again! Yesterday was my first day back at work since before Christmas. It was a nice break, but it went so quickly! During my break, I was at a creative standstill. I wasn’t inspired, and plus the craft area was a DISASTER. Since then, it has been clean- it’s so beautiful! I have 3 whole tables to let my creative juices flow….space and crafting are such a great combo.

Well, here’s my take on Kazan’s sketch for this week. I was originally going to copy the sketch exactly, but I felt like doing a horizontal card. I found some fun grass like material, so I thought it would go perfectly with the card. All of these stamps came out from DeNami Design last spring. I fell in love with the bunnies and veggies- so fun! I’m excited to start playing around with more spring/ Valentine and Easter stamps. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to post more this week!

2S4Y- Kazan’s Sketch #16

Yay! I have a card to post for 2S4Y this week! I really wanted to do Laura’s sketch last week, but I just didn’t have the time. Since we are still snowed in, there was no excuse for me not getting a card done this week. In fact, I was so determined to do a card today, that I waiting for them to post it this morning!

Lately, sleep has not been very restful. I don’t know if it has to do with the strong winds or me hoping to wake up to no more snow. Yes, I agree it is beautiful, but it needs to go away! Alas, I cannot go to yet another party because of it. :( I was so excited to go to Ginny’s party, but the foot of snow is preventing that from happening.
Today I’m planning on doing some baking- take a few more people off of the Christmas list. I so badly wanted to go shopping today, but again, that is not happening. So, for my friends reading this: you will be getting New Years presents this year!
Hope you all stay warm. It’s Cooooooold outside!

Gifts

Yay! Finally got some semi-decent pictures of my gifts on here. The lighting is still a little off, but you can still see some of the damask on the paper. If you know me, you know that I LOVE hot pink- this wrapping paper is very me. Another thing I love is floral ribbon…adding ribbon to a gift makes it “complete” in my eyes. I was originally just planning on doing white ribbon this year, but I thought the green looked really festive.

Alas, I still have lots of shopping to do, but I’m stuck at home until some of the snow melts. It is starting to get a little sunny, so I’m hoping the snow melts QUICKLY! I really wanted to greet my friend at the airport, but it’s not looking too promising right now. It’s funny, all the surrounding cities are okay to drive in, but mine is a sheet of ice. Driving home from work yesterday was not a joyride.

Being stranded has made me lazy. I don’t really want to do anything. I need to clean up my room and get ready for the day- it is 11:11, and I’m still in my pj’s! Maybe I should do that now…..

2 Sketches 4 You- Kazan’s Sketch #15

I made this card on Tuesday, but was too busy to scan it in, and then our internet was down yesterday. I’m just glad that I was able to post it before the deadline! This weeks sketch was amazing, and the gallery is FULL of awesome takes on Kazan’s sketch. This week my friend, Ginny, took part in all the fun! :) I’m so glad that I finally have a friend that likes scrapbooking and stamping too! We are talking about having a crafting night- definitely LOTS of talking, laughing, junk food, and fabulous cards will come out of this evening. Hopefully we can make this happen sooner than later….
Hope everyone has a great weekend! I still have lots of online Christmas shopping to do- hopefully the internet cooperates!
Yesterday I stamped for 12 hours! I’m working on class cards- this upcoming season is going to be top notch! Today I still have some more cards to make, but it won’t be nearly as grueling as yesterday. However, I was able to catch up on some tv and movies while I stamped. I watched Uptown Girls, V for Vendetta, The Game Plant, The Interpreter, 2 episodes of Heroes and an episode of Monk. Needless to say, my eyes were VERY tired last night!
Oh, one more thing. We have snow in Washington! It snowed a LOT last night, and we still have some outside. I think it’s beautiful, but it really can be inconvenient at times. I absolutely HATE driving in it, so I’m hoping it goes away before tomorrow.
Paper: White, Black, Red, Lime

2 Sketches 4 You- Laura’s Sketch #14

I can’t believe it! I’m actually posting a card on a MONDAY! Ever since I got my Cricut Expression, I have been trying to find reasons to use it! I only have the two cartridges it came with, but I love them so much! I’ve been searching online to see what other ones I may want. (or put on my Christmas list!) Does anyone have a “must have” cartridge they want to recommend?
This card is for a friend that is going into open heart surgery on Friday. She is such a dear friend, she has helped me with so much. I’m hoping that this card brings a little sunshine into her day, (we NEED it here in Seattle!) and reminds her that people are thinking of her.

Right now I’m going through a phase where I can’t get enough scallops, die cuts and buttons. Speaking of buttons, I really need to find a huge set of really cute ones…again, any suggestions? I got a few packets at the Creating Keepsakes show a little while back, but I really want some other colors and sizes. If you see a good set, or a place to get them for cheap, send me the link!

I think I’m still fighting something, so I’m going to go to bed soon. (Of course, I’m gonna do a little more blog hopping…..Can’t get enough!)

Mojo Madness Contest #63

Wow, why can’t I stop blog hopping?! It’s amazing how easy it is to go from one blog to another, and how quickly time passes when you do! I stumbled across this blog not too long ago. Julee has lots of cute cards and sketches, and she also posts regularly! If you want to participate in this weeks challenge, click here.

Lots of time, Lots of memories

I made this 3-D card for my mom’s 40th birthday. It was definitely a work of love…I didn’t think it was going to be that time consuming! I have to admit, it was fun to look back on old photos and reminisce about the good ‘ol days. (I’m starting to sound old!) Of course, it was hard to narrow down the photos, but I think I captured a good amount of time with a few amount of photos. I was originally going to write “Mom” on the front, but the stickers I had only had one “M” left!
I wanted the card to have a lot of personality and yet look sophisticated at the same time. Even just the littlest details can really add a lot to a project. I added several jewels, tiny bows and 3-D stickers all along the inside. On the back side, I found a really sweet poem about Mothers on the web. Of course, I had to type it in a pretty font and add some jewels….the back is just as important as the front!

TCP TUESDAY Sketch #35

I stumbled across a new sketch site this past week. I thought the sketch was perfect, so I had to participate. It was really hard to narrow which stamps and colors I wanted to use- this sketch can take you anywhere! I’m not 100% satisfied with the end result, but I couldn’t figure out what else it needed. What do you all think?
Other: Emerald ribbon, Quickie Glue Pen, Extra Fine glitter, buttons, scallop scissors

I Splurged- BIG TIME

When I saw the adds for Wal-Mart on Wednesday, I didn’t see anything that I wanted. I have still been feeling pretty crummy, so I didn’t even think I would go out shopping. After flipping through the ads for the millionth time, I stumbled across something I hadn’t seen earlier. It was the beautiful Cricut Expression. I have heard SO much about die cut machines in the past few months, but had never considered getting one. (Those were for people who had extra money to spend and who were really into crafting.) After looking at several YouTube videos and going to the Cricut website and seeing everything they can do, I decided that I was indeed going to purchase this expensive “toy”. I figured if I didn’t want it, I could always return it. Wal-Mart was selling them today for $199- they usually run for $499. Yes, that is correct….a savings of $300! After sleeping on my purchase (waking up at 3:30 is no fun, no matter what day it is) I decided that I was indeed going to keep it and try it out. Let’s just say, I’m going to be crafting more these days! It’s so fun and ever so easy too! I’ll post projects soon!
