Last week, my “niece” had her West coast 1st birthday party. Since one of my sisters just got married last year, and the other is still single, I haven’t been graced with a real niece…..yet. However, my honorary niece is just about like family. I love her so much and honestly, when she returns home, I’ll be so sad.
I wanted to create a special card for her, so I got out just about all of my favorite things: pink, scallops, polka dots and cute embellishments. I mean, if I was having a birthday, these are things I would love seeing on a card I received. :)
I think there is something about the Elephant and birthdays that go together in my mind. {Remember this card I created last week?} I decided to incorporate the number one into the card. I’m so happy with how it turned out! You could EASILY use this Elephant with any number 1 through 9- just imagine all the possibilities!
That’s going to wrap up this post. I’ll be back tomorrow with a card for the 10 Minute Craft Dash #3. Don’t forget, there’s only ONE more day to submit!
NOT LISTED: aqua pearls, hot pink satin ribbon, scallop border punch, green cardstock, patterned paper
Do you ever have days when you are just so excited you want to dance around? Okay, so I might be the only one….
As you all know, I’ve been going through a rough time with everything around the accident {click here}. I’ve had some up days and lots of down days, but overall, I’ve tried to keep my head up and stay positive. I’m SO happy to say that this week has been the best week thus far! I’ve had more up days than down days this week which is HUGE! Seeing energy return, more movement in my neck {thanks to my chiropractor}, and overall less pain has been such an amazing feeling. I feel like the “old me” is returning slowly!
This week, my list is a bit longer- there were so many things happening, I couldn’t narrow it down!
I have driven myself TO and FROM work these past two days!
My neck and back pain is slowly decreasing! Woohoo!
I got to see my “niece” twice this week {she lives in VT, but came out for her first birthday}
Created lots and lots of crafty goodness over the weekend. I’m so thrilled to be back in the groove and can’t wait to start sharing some of them!
Finalized details and making lots of plans for things here on the blog- SO many exciting things coming!
Sweet unexpected surprises in the mail. {Thank you Tina for brightening my day!}
Long phone sessions with my sister as she preps for her cooking competition in Germany
My youngest brother for always looking out for his big sister.
Last week, I had four amazing gals share their Thankful Thursday lists. It was so fun to rejoice and “share” in the things that have brought joy into your life. I would love to see YOUR list! What are YOU thankful for this week?
It’s not a secret that stamping crafting projects intimidates me. There’s something about creating something larger than an A2 size card that makes my heart beat faster and well, I do everything I can to avoid it.
Right after my accident, all I wanted to do was craft. Since I wasn’t able to move my neck, that wasn’t something I could do and it made me want to do it all the more! Believe me, as soon as I was able to, I got back into my craft studio. Being around my stamps/ ribbons/ buttons/ etc., again was like you and your best friend being reunited. Even though sometimes I get stressed with deadlines and such, crafting does also bring me tons of joy and helps relieve some stress.
Believe it or not, one of the first things I wanted to do when I was able to craft: create a project. A while back, I got some frames at a garage sale and they were laying unused on my desk. After pondering my options of what to create, I decided on doing a piece showcasing the Fruits of the Spirit.
This project was SUPER inexpensive and easy to create. I had fun lining up the words and then coloring in all of the different elements. Since my new craft studio features mostly white with hints of aqua, I decided to incorporate that into my piece.
Supply list:
Thick cardstock
Markers
Frame {garage sales/ thrift stores have them for cheap!}
I’m so happy with how this turned out- I’m already starting to think of other things I can create with my alphabet stamps! Now that I’ve tackled this project, I can tell I’m slowly starting to warm up to doing more projects…who knows, you might see some more on the blog soon. :)
Thanks for visiting my blog today- I hope that this project inspired you. See you tomorrow for my Thankful Thursday post!
I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine started out pretty good and then my back and neck started to act up. Thank goodness I have a chiropractor/ massage therapy appointment tonight!
Since we have our 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge #3 running right now {sponsored by Lawn Fawn}, I thought I would share another card I created with the colors we are featuring right now. I just love how happy these ones are!
Time it took to create: 9 minutes 30 seconds
I have to say that these little stamps are just adorable and I have so much fun playing with them! Curious as to where I got the yummy bright yellow ribbon? Wait for it…..Walmart! While I was picking up my perscriptions recently, I had some extra time and browsed the craft section. Imagine my delight when I saw this ribbon, along with a few other colors I *needed*. :)
This challenge still has a few days left- hurry and get your entries in! The winner receives their choice of any Lawn Fawn set AND you get a badge that you can proudly display on your blog. Come join us in the fun and be sure to let your friends know as well!
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope your Monday is off to a great start!
Today is a special day- it’s my mom’s birthday! She is such a special lady and I wanted to do something that would surprise her and show how much she is loved. My idea? To throw a surprise blog hop in her honor!
I’ve gathered a few of the DeNami DT, along with some previous DT members and some of the most avid DeNami fans for this special occasion. If you started the hop at the beginning, you should be coming for Laurie Willison’s blog. If you got lost along the way, or just started, I have the complete list on the DeNami blog.{You’ll want to check out each post- these gals are SO talented!}
Mom, {don’t worry, I actually wrote in the card, too!}
I hope you were surprised and felt loved by this small act of how amazing and special you are. You inspire so many people with your creativity, love, passion for life, energy, kindness and zeal for the Lord. Thank you for always being true to who you are and for continuing to show Christ’s love to me (and the family), along with the DeNami customers. Love you. ♥
Did you happen to notice there are five sets of balloons? There are five of us kids, so I thought that would be a fun little way to incorporate that into the card. :)
This is the last stop in the hop- I hope you all were inspired by the various birthday creations. Thank you to those who joined along and to those who have left my mom some birthday love on the DeNami blog.
Have a fabulous rest of your Friday, talk with you all soon!
One month ago, my life changed. (story here). To some, I may sound like I’m being dramatic, but it’s the honest truth. These last four weeks I’ve gone through pain like I have never before. I’ve had to depend on people in ways I haven’t since I was a kid. I’ve been tested in ways that have shaken me to my core. There have been many tears cried out- in pain, frustration, anxiety and uncertainty of the unknown. I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t question God as to why all this had to happen.
Despite all the challenges and tests I’ve faced thus far because of the accident, I AM starting to see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.Again, I’m so incredibly grateful for all the prayers thus far. I’m still not out of this journey yet, and we don’t have many answers, but things are moving in the right direction. :)
Here is my list what I’m thankful for this week:
my chiropractor. I wasn’t able to move my neck at all after the accident- now I can! Still a ways left to go, but I’m so thrilled I’m seeing progress!
unexpected get well notes in the mail- they make my heart swell with thankfulness!
my bestie. She is simply amazing. I wish I could list everything she has done for me, but that would be a super long post. Let’s just say I have the best bestie in the world. :)
comfort food. My mom made my favorite casserole the other day and I’m savoring every single bite.
laughter. It’s true, sometimes laughter is the best medicine (especially when you are having a bad day).
Each week, as I’ve been doing these posts, it’s been neat to see more and more of you open up and share about what you are thankful for. I read each and every one of these and as the weeks go by, I feel as if I’m starting to get to know you better and better. :) Let’s keep it up, shall we? What are YOU thankful for this week? No matter how big or small, I would love to see your lists!

It’s been a little while since I did my last Random Loves post, so I thought I would do one. I always have a hard time deciding what to feature, but I finally narrowed it down to my four absolute favorite things at the moment.
Let’s get started!
I’m so excited that the Salted Carmel Mocha is back at Starbucks! Before, I was a fan of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, but that has gone by the wayside now. Hand me a nonfat SCM with no whip and extra carmel, and I’m one happy girl. :)
It’s not a secret, music is a huge part of my life. Whether I’m in the car, on the computer at work, at the gym, I’m almost guaranteed to be listening to something. Recently, my “sister” (who isn’t a biological sister, but our families grew up together, so we are SUPER close), introduced me to Spotify. I had tried it before, but couldn’t figure it out. Now that she showed me how to use it properly, I’m addicted.
With Autumn right around the corner, I couldn’t resist going for a warm color when I got my nails done. Between the boots, scarves, new nail polish color and starting to get hot Starbucks drinks (see above), I’m getting in the mode for the cooler months!
Have you heard of food trucks before? I’m a teensy bit obsessed with them. Last month, I went to an event where there were 10 different trucks and I was so intrigued at all the different systems and kinds of foods. This show brings together my love of food trucks and reality tv.
I always love seeing what others are enjoying. What are a few of YOUR favorite things at the moment? It can be drinks, shows, movies, etc…. it just might introduce me (and others) to some new things!
I’ll be back in a little bit with the 10 Minute Craft Dash #2 Highlights.
I’m so bummed I wasn’t able to post Friday or Saturday- I had some things I wanted to share! Alas, the computer I edit photos on decided to act up and I couldn’t do anything. Thankfully, it has decided to cooperate (for now) and I was able to clear out some old files- hopefully we are good for a little while!
I was doing a little blog hopping over the weekend and saw the latest Retro Sketches #29 posted. I just couldn’t resist joining in on this one! Here’s the sketch and what I came up with:
I saw a few of the samples highlighted Halloween stamps and I was inspired to do the same. This year, over at DeNami Design, we released the adorable Friendly Mummy and I just had to use him. I’m not a fan of scary or grotesque images, but the cute ones I absolutely LOVE!
This card is super simple, but I actually enjoy the clean and simplistic design. Sometimes less is more, right? I wanted to brighten up the card with a pop of color, so I added in the orange twine and orange button. Two easy additions that really make the card, in my opinion.
I hope you enjoyed the card today. I’ll be back either later today or tomorrow (hopefully) with the highlights of the latest 10 Minute Craft Dash. Talk with you all soon!
