Creating A Paper Pieced Turkey

Good morning! Heather here to share a fun Thanksgiving Card with you featuring a paper-pieced turkey and lots of lovely fall pattern papers – as well as heat embossing and a shaker element!

I have this thing for pattern paper – and fell in love with this beauty. It has a nice mix of large and small patterns, and I love that it is double sided. That way if I don’t care for one side of the paper I usually will be able to use the other side! The only problem is when you like BOTH sides…but then, at least there are two of each design, so that helps!

I also paired up some of my favorite sized shaker elements, the Gold Mini Circle Confetti (it just moves SOOO well in a shaker!) and a new favorite embellishment – the Metallic Gold Confetti Mix.

I started off by choosing some pattern papers (I used scraps from previous cards – perfect way to use them up!) and stamped the turkey from Happy Turkey on each of them, fussy cutting out the layers that I wanted. I started off by cutting the entire thing out in the red paper, then the black polka dots, only leaving off the 4 tail feathers, then the orange for the entire body, then the hello for just the head, and finally the beak and the “snood” (the little red part hanging off the beak – I had to Google what it was called!). Layering up the paper piecing this way makes it look more even and polished, and adds great dimension.

Next, I used both sizes of the Window Frames Dies to create the shaker. I taped them together and used them to die cut a panel of white cardstock. Added acetate to back the window, foam adhesive around it, and then filled it up with my Gold Mini Circle Confetti. Just before I filled and adhered it to my cardbase, I stamped and heat embossed my sentiment directly on the pattern paper in white.

Finished off by attaching the turkey on the front of the shaker, adding some Metallic Gold Confetti Mix to embellish, and tying some hemp twine around it.

Don’t you love all that sparkly gold? And isn’t that the cutest turkey you ever did see?!?!?!?

Tutorial: Halloween Copic Coloring

Hi everyone! Rina here with a two Halloween cards using the Trick or Treat Friends stamp set and coordinating dies.  This set is not only perfect for Halloween, but also super versatile in that you can use two images to make four different characters.  The caped boy can either be Dracula or a superhero and the dressed girl can be a princess or witch depending on which accessory stamps are used.  Along with these fun characters you can also make a Frankenstein as well as a bat girl.  I challenged myself today to use all of these images on one card.

The stamp set also includes a set of pumpkins.  I thought it would be fun to use the costume accessory stamps on the pumpkins to make a completely different card!

These two cards are very image heavy so I opted for quick coloring with copic markers.  I used two blending colors for the images and three colors for the hair.  I also made sure to use one set of colors consistent for all images of that color.  For example, I used the same green combination YGO1 and YG25 for both the pumpkin stems and Frankenstein’s face.

In order to differentiate the images that are double duty, I made sure to color the hair different colors.

Copic Markers

Orange – YR21, YR04

Green – YG01, YG25

Skin with Blush – E21, E50, R20

Pinks and Reds – R11, R20, R14, R22, R24, R08

Purple – V22, V25

Blue – B02, B04

Yellow – Y02

Brown Hair – E31, E34, E35

Blacks and Greys – N3, N5, N7, N9

I wanted to keep the background simple since the card would be filled with images.  I opted for a light distressed ink background with Distress Ink and made two panels.  One panel used Festive Berries/Ripe Persimmon and the other card was blended with Ripe Persimmon/Fossilized Amber.  The panels needed a little something so I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor in black to make splatters with a 6 Round brush.  The splatters were fun and easy to make, I encourage you all give it a try!

To assemble the card I adhered the accessory images to the main stamps first with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.  When this was done, I then adhered the images to the distressed ink panels in a triangle formation.  To add more sparkle, I added a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Gold Confetti Mix and accented the images with Wink of Stella Clear glitter brush pen.  I stamped the “Happy Halloween” sentiment on the inside of the card.

Tutorial: Reindeer Copic Coloring

It’s Mindy here today with another Copic Marker tutorial. Today I’m using this adorable stamp set called Reindeer Friends there’s also a matching die set so you don’t have to deal with any fussy cutting and create the cutest scenes on your Holiday Cards!

Today I’m sharing how to color this adorable reindeer. There are few different techniques also included, coloring the no line technique and creating animal fur textures. I stamped my images on Copic Xpress it Blending Card using Memento ink.

Copic Markers used in tutorial: E40, E41, E42, E43, E44, G82, G85, G85, R24, R27, R59.

The colors I used for the snow and sky are: N0, C00, N1, BG000, B0000

I have also used the Pretty Pink Posh Scallop Borders 1 Die Cut. These set of dies are adorable and are so versatile. I just love them!

Spooktacular Watercolor Card

Hi everyone! Lexa here today with a card for a Halloween Week. It’s October already, I believe many of you love these days of the year. It might be the season, the color scheme, or maybe the festive Halloween Day that you’d love. This super spooktacular set from Pretty Pink Posh will make your Halloween day even more fun.

I create my background with a loose watercolor technique using Distress Inks along with Tic Tac Toe Dies as if they are belong together. I did a little bit custom edges on every line by snipped  them sharp just using scissors. I stamped all the images using Versafine Black and watercolor them with Distress Markers. The dress up kids look so cute, don’t you think so? I paired up the brand new Trick or Treat Friends Stamp with the older Halloween Friends Stamp. They make a perfect scene together. I finished the card with some pretty Mermaid Sequins Mix that’s so sparkling and fine. Here’s a closer look to my card…

Trick or Treat Friends

Hi! It’s Melody here today. I have a cute Halloween night card to share that I created with the Trick or Treat Friends Stamp Set.

I colored the stamped images with Copic Markers and then die cut with the Trick or Treat Friends Coordinating Dies. I die cut the largest pumpkin with the Stitched Foliage Dies from white cardstock and then colored with Copic Markers to highlight the stitching.

To create the background I cut a panel of watercolor paper. I used a blending tool and Distress Inks in Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot to blend the night sky. Then I splattered the paper with gold paint and attached sequins from the Metallic Gold Confetti Mix.

I used one of the border dies in the Stitched Borders 2 to cut a strip of grass and stamped a sentiment from the Trick or Treat Friends Stamp Set. The fence is die cut with the Picket Fence Die. I used foam tape to add the images to the card front to give dimension to the card.

Halloween Treat Bags

Hello everybody, Thi here! I have the honor of being one of the newer members of the Pretty Pink Posh team. Today I am sharing some Halloween tic tac toe treat bags I made. I thought these would be fun for the kids to give out to their friends. Because I was making these for kids, I tried to keep it as simple as possible.

To begin, I first cut out out the tic tac toe in glittery black cardstock using the Tic Tac Toe die. I then cut three pieces of white cardstock and blended them with Distress Inks in fun Halloween colors.

I colored Trick or Treat Friends with Copic markers and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

For the sentiment, I took the Happy Halloween sentiment also from Trick or Treat Friends and stamped it on with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I love the way the white pops off the bright Hallween background colors.

I then adhered everything with my tape runner because I wanted this to be a flat card. Since I was making it for kids, I thought keeping it simple and flat would give it a better chance of reaching my children’s friends in one piece.

I put each flat card in a 5×5 clear plastic bag with chocolate kisses candy in two different colors so they can play tic tac toe with it before eating their sweet treats.

Chevron Halloween

Hi Pretty Pink Posh friends!  This is Amy K. here today sharing some “old” Pretty Pink Posh products paired with some of the last release for the mid-week inspiration for Halloween theme week!  It’s definitely Halloween at my house.  One of my favorite holidays to celebrate……something about the colors, decor, and cute trick or treaters!

I started with the stitched chevron die from the new Stacked Edges 1 Die and die cut it out of dark purple, orange, and green cardstocks.  I added each one on a top folding notecard until it was covered.  Next, I went to work with the Storybook 2 Die and die cut it out of white and dark purple cardstock. I adhered all the pieces together by mounting them onto a smaller piece of scratch cardstock as this kept the panel flat because I knew I would be adding my cute Halloween elements with foam dimension.  I white heat embossed the “trick or treat” sentiment from Halloween Friends onto the tall part of the Storybook 2 Die.

TIP:  these dies are perfect for a starting point for “scene building”.

My cute images are from the Halloween Friends and Trick or Treat Friends stamp sets.  They work so well together!  I Copic colored all the images and die cut with the coordinating dies.  I added most of my images with foam adhesive and as a final touch, adding some Amethyst sequins in both 6mm and 4mm.

Halloween Tic Tac Toe Card

Hi Pretty Pink Posh friends, Shannon here with you today. I’m so very happy to join you for Halloween theme week!

I started off by stamping my images from the Trick or Treat Friends stamp set onto watercolor paper, colored in using Zig Real Brush Markers and cut out using the coordinating dies.

I cut my card panel using white card stock and the Stitched Notes die. I lightly ink blended some purple card ink in to the background and die the Tic-Tac-Toe die to adhere on top. I stamped my sentiment and cut out into a banner shape to adhere i the middle of my Tic-Tac-Toe area and adhered my images on as well.

Lastly I adhered my panel onto my card base and to finish off the card I scattered some 4mm and 6mm Sugar Plum sequins.

Tutorial: Watercolor Galaxy Night Sky

Hello Pretty Pink Posh fans! This is Yana and today I am sharing a video tutorial showing how to create a watercolor night sky/galaxy background for a Halloween card. Plus, we’re kicking off our Halloween theme week here on the blog.

I started working on my project by painting the galaxy first as it needed time to dry before I could heat emboss my sentiment. I used Arches Hot Pressed watercolor paper and wet on wet technique. I would suggest using Cold Pressed watercolor paper or even Rough as it is best suited for this technique; I only had Hot Pressed paper on hand, so I used that.

Once I was happy with my watercolor (be sure to watch the video above for detailed instructions using the Daniel Smith Watercolors) I set it aside to dry. I don’t like using my heat tool for these kind of paintings and much rather prefer them to air dry.

Daniel Smith Watercolors used: Indigo Blue, Lunar Blue, Gold, Imperial Purple, Serpentine Green

To create a scene for this card I stamped several images from the Trick or Treat Friends stamp set in alcohol marker friendly ink. I cut my images out using coordinating dies and colored them using Copic markers.

Copics used:

pumpkins// YR18, YR04, E15, Y17

broom// E37, E15, E79

hat// V17, V15, V12, C9 C7, C5

Once my painting was dry I heat embossed “Happy Halloween” sentiment in white embossing powder and foam mounted my stamped and die cut images on top. To finish it off, I added 4mm Navy and 6mm Navy sequins around the card front.

I originally planned to create an A2 card, but as I was working I trimmed my watercolor piece to a 4×4” and ended up making a 4 ¼” square project.

Tutorial: Stretching Your Dies

Hello everyone, Joni here sharing a card on how to stretch your die-cuts.

To begin first die-cut a white cardstock using Stitched Duo 3 Dies. Then die-cut the bottom using the Stitched Borders 1 Dies. Next, I added some blush on the die-cut using a round dauber.

Next, I used the center oval die for the mouth of the ghost from Stitched Essentials 1 Dies. For the eyes I used the small round dies from the Build A Bloom Coordinating Dies.

For the background I added gold splatters using Gansai Tambi Starry Colors on a dark cardstock.

I also added some Metallic Gold Confetti Mix for the background. The sentiment “happy halloween” was embossed with orange embossing powder and is from the Trick or Treat Friends stamp set as well as the witches’ hat. The ghost die-cut is adhered with foam tape for dimensions.
