Love Friends + Flash Sale!

Hello everyone, Joni sharing my take on the newest Pretty Pink Posh products! For this project the focal point is the negative part of Love Shaker Die (which is on sale at 20% off today!).

To begin, I die-cut the Love Shaker Die on a white cardstock and then colored it with Copic Maker, then I die-cut 2 more to make the die-cut thicker by adhering it under the colored die-cut.

Next, I created my card background using Tim Holtz Distress Makers in Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, and Shaded Lilac. After distressing I then splattered some water on the background and gold watercolor paint using Gansai Tambi Starry Colors.

Then, I adhered the negative love on the center of the card base. I also added the boy and the girl from Birthday Friends stamp set. This set is versatile that you can use on any occasion. The rose and heart candy die-cuts were from the old release Friends Forever stamp set and Friends Forever Coordinating Dies.

For added color I added a distressed Stitched Border 1 Dies, to hold my sentiment from Friends Forever stamp set.

I added some new confetti from this release: Assorted Heart Confetti and Iridescent Heart Confetti Mix to finish off the card.

Thank you so much for stopping by, until next time!

So be sure to head to video directly on YouTube so you can leave a comment.

I am hosting this event with over 55 videomakers that have come together to help out some of the crafters just starting to make videos. YouTube has changed some rules about who is allowed to earn money from their channels and many are at risk so I put together a hop with plenty of prizes to help increase views and subscribers before the end of February. There are 120 prizes being given away throughout the video hop, so the more videos you click and comment on, the more chances you have to win! You can see the whole list of videos on my blog!

For today’s video, I wanted to make a mix of masculine and feminine love cards since Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. The Love Shaker Die combined with the Scallop Frames made such perfect accessories to create these quick cards. Did you know that two inked up 4×5 ¼ pieces of cardstock produced four cards!? I die cut each piece of coloured cardstock with the dies and saved all of the “waste”, then I die cut two pieces of white cardstock in the same way and added the wasted scraps into the card.

For the batch of pink cards, I used Candied Apple, Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks for the background. I blended them on the cardstock and added water to see the oxidized effect occur. My tips for perfect blending are: Don’t put too much pressure on the handle and allow the colour to build up slowly, start off the paper and work your way into it, move the colour around in a circular motion to avoid harsh lines.

For the batch of blue cards, I used Peacock Feathers, Broken Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks for the background. I blended them on the cardstock and added water to see the oxidized effect occur. The nice thing about the oxides is that they are much more user friendly for blending than the originals.

Thanks so much for joining my for this fun event everyone! And thank you to Pretty Pink Posh for having me on the video team and sponsoring this event!

Creating Three Valentine Shaker Cards

Hi Everyone!

I enjoy creating for holidays and crafting for Valentines Day is super fun.  I love all the fun colors and bling.  I thought I would kick start Valentines Day crafting with some fun shaker cards.  I have been obsessed with shaker cards lately and definitely put my Pretty Pink Posh sequins to work for this project.

One of the things that I try to do is to mix my old and new stamp sets together.  I do like to stretch my stamp investment by finding new ways of pairing my stamp sets.  This forces me to have a new take on my stamp sets, be more creative and make something unique to me.

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube
I wanted to stick to a Valentines Day theme so I pre-selected the colors I would be using.  I am using Zig Real Clean Color Brush pens today because I wanted to achieve a soft, easy, watercolor look.  I found great success in using Bristol Smooth cardstock along with Versafine Onyx Black ink in conjunction with the Zigs.  I used a water brush to push the color around and had a dish of clean water and a paper towel handy to clean between colors.  To create the background I used Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick and Wilted Violet.  I used the Distress Sprayer to create white splotches in the background.

I played with my stamp sets and came up with a couple of designs incorporating two stamps sets together or repurposing a themed stamp set and thinking of other ways to use it.  I paired Hummingbird Thanks and Bold Blooms together and made a lilac card.  I used my Summer Friends images along with Fly a Kite; I thought the heart sunglasses on the girl image were perfect!  Finally I used Birthday Friends images as Valentines Day images.  The Birthday Friends set is one of my favorites and my favorite part is the balloons.  I plan on using these balloons with animal images on a future card, so it appears the animals are being carried up.  I love that the Pretty Pink Posh sets coordinate so well with each other.

Here are the basics of making a shaker card:

  • Cut out a window on a card front
  • Place acetate behind window using glue – I used Glossy Accents
  • Line the back of the window with two layers of foam tape (One layer of foam tape if you would like to use less sequins or reduce bulk)
  • Make sure there are no empty spaces when adhering the foam tape, you do not want any of the sequin yumminess to escape!
  • Powder tool around the inside tape of the frame to prevent sequins sticking to the side of foam tape (I do not powder as I do not mind the sticking)

You can use the Pretty Pink Posh sequins mixes as is because the mixes are super colorful and sparkly or you can add more sequins to match the color and mood of your project.  For this project I wanted over the top “bling” for my Valentines Day themed shakers so I achieved this with adding my all time favorites.

Here is a list of the sequins I used and some of my favorites to mix up.  In general, I will add gold colored sequins to warm toned cards and silver colored sequins to cool toned cards.

For this project I used these sequins as my base color:

Then I added some of my favorites, this is optional.  I decided to mix in some of these in because I wanted to match the lightness of my images.  Here is what I normally use to mix, of course I do not use all of these the same time, I just pick and chose which ones will be best to achieve the look I would like.

Here are the dies used in this post:

For finishing touches I added the Wink of Stella in clear on the stamped images.  I finished the insides of the cards with sentiments from the Love Sentiments stamp set.  I had extra colored images, which I added to the inside of the card, these included hearts and flowers.  I also made sure to layer my die cut sentiment “Hello Friend” to ensure the die cut popped and had a lot of dimension.

I hope you enjoyed these cards and give it a try! Thanks for stopping by!

Tutorial: Creating Two Valentine Cards

Hi friends, Eloise here and today I’ll be using the new Cupid Friends stamp set to create two different sequin shaker cards. I’ll also be using the Stitched Notes Dies along with the Love Shaker Die and a few sequin mixes to create my cards today.

For my first card, I’ll be creating a full card shaker, with some images floating inside. So, to begin, I stamped out the two cupids from Cupid Friends and coloured them in with Copic Markers. Once I finished colouring them in, I went ahead and cut them out using the coordinating dies. I set those off to the side so I could work on my shaker pocket. I took a white piece of cardstock, cut it down to 4” x 5 ½”, then used the large rectangle die from Stitched Notes Dies and cut that out of the centre. This created a frame for my full card shaker. I then added adhesive on the back of the frame and adhered a piece of acetate to the back.

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube
Copic colours used: R20, R21, R22 / R14, R24, R29 / W00, W1 / B0000, B000 / 0 / Y21, YR21, YR24 / E000, E00, E21)

Next, I took a piece of watercolour paper, cut it down to slightly smaller than 4” x 5 ½” and used the ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ sentiment from Cupid Friends and white heat embossed it into the centre of my card stock piece. I then used some Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar Distress Inks to create a blended gradient effect. Then splattered some water over top to create a water splotch effect. I dried it off with a heat tool and could start to assemble my shaker card.

I went ahead and added some white thread onto the backs of my angels, then took the ends of the thread and adhered them directly to the ink blended panel using some scor-tape. Then, I added in some Sweetheart and Spring Blooms Sequin Mixes in the middle of the panel. Lastly, I added two layers of foam tape behind my white frame from earlier and adhered that over my card base directly. That finished up the first card, let’s move onto the second card.

For the second card, I wanted to create a see-through shaker design. To start up, I coloured the same two angels the same way I did for my first card and then cut them out using the dies. Next, I cut a card base to 4 ½” x 9”, scored at 4 ½” to create a square card. Then, cut down an additional white panel to 4” x 4” to create my shaker in. I then took the Love Shaker die and cut it out of the centre of my panel. Once that was cut through, I lined up the cut panel over top of my card base, then pressed in the Love Shaker die so I could cut it from the right place in my card base also. Once they were both cut, I set them off to the side to create a stencil. I cut the same die from some thin acetate, so I could ink blend through it.

To line up my stencil on the inside, I first closed my card, placed the ‘Love’ positive piece inside the negative piece, held down the inside of the love piece with my fingers, then opened the card base, adhered the stencil over top making sure all the grooves lined up with each other. Then, adhered down all three sides and made sure the front of the card lined up with the inside, it did so I began ink blending. I used Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar Distress Ink to ink blend on the inside of my card. Once I ink blended that I went ahead and ink blended my front panel with the same two colours. I then added adhesive onto the back of my front panel and adhered down a piece of acetate over top, then repeated the same steps for my card base. I then added adhesive onto the back of my love frame piece and adhered it on top of the acetate and also did the same thing for the inside of my card, except I added adhesive on the front of the piece and not the back so everything lined up.

Lastly, I added some Rose Gold Heart Confetti and also some Iridescent Heart Confetti to the inside of my shaker, added a layer of foam tape and adhered my panel over top. I also added my Cupid images with more foam tape and scattered around some Clear Droplets too. To finish up my card completely, I cut apart the ‘All My Love’ sentiment from Love Sentiments and white heat embossed the ‘All My’ sentiment onto some black cardstock. I cut that down into a strip and adhered that onto my card also and that finished up my second card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I’ll catch you next time.

Valentine Theme Week- Day 5

Hello everyone, Joni here sharing my take on these cute cherubs from the Cupid Friends stamp set, Cupid Friends Coordinating Dies, and Love Shaker Die.

To begin, I die-cut the “love” from the Love Shaker Die keeping only the love die after fussy cutting. For this card I wanted to create a bold background.

Next, to create my background I used the Distress Ink from Tim Holtz in Stormy Sky and Black Soot to create a dramatic effect.

Before adhering the love die I first splatter the background with white watercolor paint for added interest. Next, I stamped the cherub on a white cardstock and colored them with Copic Markers. The sentiment “happy valentine’s day” is also part for the Cupid Friends stamp set as well as the tiny bitty hearts. After coloring I die-cut the cherubs with its coordinating die set and the sentiment then I fussy cut.

I adhered every die-cut with foam tape for dimension and added Sparkling Clear sequins for interest.

I hope you enjoyed my take on these products. Join us tomorrow for another day of Valentine inspiration.

Valentine Theme Week- Day 3

Hi there Pretty Pink Posh fans! Crystal here with the continuation of the Valentine’s Day week here on the PPP Blog. I wanted to create something that would utilize the beautiful “love” word from the Love Shaker die.

Let’s start by gathering our materials, for this card I used the following Pretty Pink Posh products :

With our Love shaker, I have die cut 4 “love” words from Melon Mambo cardstock and have trimmed off the heart. To save paper, I cut strips just wide enough to fit the “love”.

Once those were trimmed out, I glued the “love” on top of each other to create a thick die cut.

From the Love Sentiment stamp set, I used the “All My Love”. I masked the “love” from the set with washi tape, inked the stamp, then removed the washi tape. I stamped the sentiment on the card base above of where I plan to place the die cut “love”.

Now it’s time to work on the card panel. First I wanted to stamp the darker of my ink colors, so using the solid hearts from Cupid Friends with Melon Mambo, which will coordinate with the “love” die cut.

For the larger hearts from the Love Sentiments set, I have stamped those in the following ink colors. SU Powder Pink, SU Melon Mambo, Pink Shimmer Delicata, Altenew Blush and Altenew Soft Lilac.

I felt this card needed some touches of gold, so I heat embossed the heart outlines from Cupid Friends in gold embossing powder. Since the gun was hot and the powder was out, I decided to create a dipping effect on the love die cut.

This was super simple, as I tapped the half of the die cut in embossing ink, covered with powder and heat set. To finish the card, I added a strip of gold washi and added a few Sparkling Clear Sequins.

I hope you like the simplicity of this card! I certainly did! The colors could easily be changed and the sentiments from Love Sentiments could also be easily interchanged.

Have a fabulous day! Join us tomorrow for another day of Valentine inspiration!

Creating 3 Wild Rose Thank You Cards

Hi everyone, Eloise here and today I have three thank You cards to share with you all using the same stamp set for all, along with the same sentiment die but adding a few other dies in to change up the design each time. Thank you cards are so important after the holidays and honestly, all year round so I love to have a lot of hand as I’m always in need of them.

Watch the video above  I  Watch the video in HD on YouTube
To begin my first card I’m using the Wild Rose stamp set and gold heat embossing a ton of the images onto some watercolour cardstock. I then used some Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to colour in my flowers. I used No. 25 Pink, No. 27 Dark Pink, No. 82 Purple, No. 48 Emerald Green and No. 44 Deep Green for them all. Once they were coloured, I heat set them with a heat tool, cut them out using the coordinating dies and set them off to the side. I then pulled another piece of more watercolour paper and used the Stitched Notes die set, I used the large rectangle die and cut it out from the cardstock.

For my sentiment, I used the Thank You Script die and positioned it into the centre of my die cut panel. I then used a foam mat, placed it underneath the cardstock, and ran it through my Big Shot Machine like I would an embossing folder. This creates an impression of the die cut, rather than cutting through. Now that my panel has been embossed with the die cut sentiment, I used the Kuretake Gansai Starry Colours Watercolour Set and painted in the Thank You sentiment with a gold watercolour. I dried that with a heat tool and assembled my card. I adhered my flowers on with foam tape and adhered my leaves with flat adhesive. I then popped up the entire panel onto fun foam and then onto a card base that I covered with blue striped patterned paper and that finished up my first card.

For my second card, I started out with the rest of the colouring for my next two cards. I stamped down a ton of images onto some more watercolour cardstock using black ink this time and clear heat embossing over the top and used the same Zig Clean Colour Markers for my images. For my second card I used No. 33 Persian Green, No. 31 Cobalt Blue, No. 42 Turquoise Green and No. 41 Light Green. Once all my images were coloured, I die cut them out with the coordinating dies and moved on to my shaker. I’m using the Window Frames Dies, and I cut out the largest one out of some white cardstock. I set the negative piece aside and coloured the positive piece using Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, fading it into white.

Next, I added a piece of acetate onto the back of my negative piece using some scor tape and then added foam tape all around the edges to create a seemless well for my sequins to sit in. Next, I grabbed a white card base, adhered down my positive window frame piece, the added some Mermaid Mix Sequins onto the arched piece. I then removed the foam tape backers and adhered my panel over top. I then adhered my flowers at the bottom of my arched piece with foam tape and then adhered my leaves with flat adhesive. For my sentiment, I used the same thank you die, I adhered some stick it onto the back of some white cardstock, then cut it out and adhered it on top of my sequin shaker window. That finished up my second card, now let’s move onto the last card.

For my third card, I again started off with my coloured images. For this colour combo, I used No. 50 Yellow, No. 25 Pink, No. 202 Peach Pink and No. 41 Light Green. I set off my flowers and leaves to the side and moved onto die cutting I used the Scallop Ovals Dies and cut the largest one out of white cardstock. I set it off to the side, then used Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to ink blend lightly into the centre of another piece of watercolour cardstock. I then sprinkled on some water, picked it up with a paper towel and dried it off with a heat tool. Next, I die cut the Thank You die cut from some more white cardstock and adhered it to the centre of my panel.

Next, I added foam tape onto the back of my scalloped oval and adhered that around my sentiment, then I adhered my flowers surrounding my oval/sentiment with foam tape and adhered my entire panel onto a piece of blue water-coloured paper.

To completely finish off my cards, I adhered some Metallic Gold Confetti Mix onto my first card with the gold accents and then some 4mm Tutti Fruitti Mix and 6mm Mix around my card also using some Multi Medium Matte adhesive.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed my thank you cards for today.

New Feature: Something Old, Something New!

Good morning! Heather here this morning, and I’m excited to be starting off the new year with a new tutorial theme – Something Old, Something New! I thought it would be fun to mix together both some brand new products, and some older ones – to show how AMAZINGLY well Pretty Pink Posh products work together! Today, I’ve used the brand new Love Shaker Die and Love Sentiments Stamp Set, with with the adorable Happy Snowman and Happy Owl stamps and dies! I also used the brand new Red Mini Heart Confetti.

I had the idea of making a snowman couple for a Valentine’s Card – it wasn’t until I got to the end of the card that I thought of adding the hat and bow from Happy Owl stamp set – that’s why they aren’t included in the tutorial photos!

First up, I stamped the snowpeople and their scarfs, using red ink to fill in the scarf with the polka dot pattern. I did a bit of soft coloring with Copics as well.

Next up, I heat embossed my sentiment in white on a strip of black cardstock, and then stamped one of the hearts from Love Sentiments Stamp Set, using the solid image to stamp in the same red as the scarfs for continuity. Since this stamp set doesn’t have dies, I just fussy cut out that little heart.

Next, I built the shaker element. I die cut the Love Shaker Die from turquoise pattern paper, then trimmed a piece of acetate just smaller than the heart. I backed it with acetate, and then used some thin foam strips (that were just added to the PPP Shop!) around the edges.

I filled it with the new Red Mini Heart Confetti, and added another piece of acetate to the back to make a complete shaker element.

Then it was simply a matter of assembling the card! I adhered the shaker element to the top, and the black sentiment strip with foam adhesive at the bottom, then added the snowpeople in between.

At this point, I realized that hat and bow from Happy Owl would be a perfect fit and addition, so I added those, then added the heart in the center of them, with some twine to make it look like they were holding a banner with a heart between them!

This card also uses one of my favorite color schemes – something about turquoise and red is so fun together!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today- we hope you enjoyed this new feature! Have a wonderful day!

Tutorial: Creating A Birthday Scene

Hi Everyone! It’s Melody here today and I have a birthday card to share featuring the newly released Birthday Friends Stamp Set and the Birthday Friends Coordinating Dies.

I chose a color scheme for the card that could be used or a either a birthday boy or a birthday girl.

I colored the images with Copic Markers and used a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen to add glitter to the cake frosting. I added the polka dots to the dress with a white gel pen. Then I die cut the images with the Birthday Friends Coordinating Dies.

Next I cut the new Storybook 6 Die twice, once from a patterned paper, that was cut to fit the card front,  and once from watercolor paper. On the patterned paper I stamped a sentiment from the Birthday Friends Stamp Set in black ink. On the watercolor paper I sponged on distress ink and spritzed the paper with water.

On the back of the card front I added foam tape. The foam tape adds dimension to card and leaves me a little space to attach the stamped images.

I inlayed the watercolor squares and rectangles into the card front and the attached the stamped images using foam tape.

The card is finished of with a few pieces from the Sparkling Clear Confetti Mix. Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day.

Tutorial: Stamping + Coloring on Acetate

Hello, friends! Marge here today and I’m sharing two shaker cards with stamping and coloring on acetate films.

As shown in the picture, I colored flowers on an acetate film using alcohol markers so that you can give stained glass effects to your cards.

Here are supplies for today: acetate film, StazOn ink, alcohol swab, stamps and dies from Pretty Pink Posh.

To begin, I trimmed a sheet of acetate film into 3.75×5 inch,  then stamped Pretty Petunia on it using a jet black StazOn ink. Then I erased a part of stem & leaves using an alcohol swab, then stamped a sentiment from Love Sentiments into the empty space.

I then turned the film upside down, and started coloring on the back of stamped images.

At first, I tried Copic markers for coloring, but they didn’t look bright on the acetate film, so I changed to Altenew Artist Markers, which are also alcohol based. Since the Altenew markers have larger nibs and are more juicy than Copics, I found it easier with the Altenew markers.

After I finished coloring, I found that the petunias shape fit very well into the Storybook 1 die frame. So I changed my plan from making a large rectangle window to making partitioned windows for shakers.

I die cut a white card stock using Stitched Notes and Storybook 1 die to make a shaker frame as shown below .

For the red card, I put Berry Bright Sequins, Gold Shimmer Seed Beads, and Daffodil Seed Beads in the shaker.

The Berry Bright Sequins Mix consists of green,  bright red and clear dew drops so it really goes well with flower images.

For the blue one, I used Mermaid Sequins MixNavy6mm Peridot Mist, Daffodil Seed Beads, and Spring Green Seed Beads.

I always feel delightful when I put sequins into the shaker pouch and I love the iridescent shimmering look of the sequins.

Here are the two finished cards.

Except for coloring on the acetate film, the whole process is very simple.

Tips

1. Coloring on acetate film using alcohol markers is very tricky. So don’t try to be perfect. Use deep colors rather than light ones. When you brush markers, do it in the same direction before the previous brush stain dries up. That will minimize brushstrokes.

2. Mix seed beads with cupped sequins when you make shakers. Your shaker will look prettier and sound cheerful.

3. When you use MISTI for stamping on acetate film, use masking tape to keep the film from moving. The magnets won’t keep it in the same position while you stamp and open the MISTI door because the surface of the clear stamps is too sticky.

4. Color numbers of markers I used are R206, R217, B227, B016, G554 (shown below)

That’s it for day. I hope you enjoyed this post!
