Holly Jolly Gingerbread

Holly Jolly greetings, friends! Christina here, and I’m excited to share with you this festive card showcasing the new Gingerbread Friends stamp set. These little guys and all their holiday accessories are so adorable and are perfect for scene building on cards, creating tags, or for any of your holiday papercrafting projects that call for something a little sweet! For my design, I incorporated one of the new Holiday Word Scenes as well as the new Candy Cane Stripes Stencil that I used to make a fun plaid background.

I started by creating the plaid background for my little scene. First I die-cut the Eyelet Rectangle from white cardstock and masked the edges with low-tack tape. Then I used two shades of green ink to stencil on the stripes. After stenciling the stripes one way, I rotated the stencil and stenciled darker green stripes going the opposite way. This is such an easy way to get more out of your crafty supplies! I mounted this onto a white card base and moved on to stamping and coloring my images.

I used images from the Gingerbread Friends set and, to round out my scene, just a few from the Christmas Train set. Then I colored the images with Copic Markers using a traditional red and green color palette before die-cutting them with the coordinating dies.

Here are the colors I used:
gingerbread men: E53, E33, E35, E37, RV10
reds: R24, R27
greens: G24, G46
yellows: Y21, Y26
shadows: W0, W1

Finally, I attached the images to the plaid background using foam squares for some of them to bring them into the foreground and glue for the other images, keeping them in the background. The finishing touches were to add white gel pen highlights and a few shiny Metallic Gold Pearls.

Thanks so much for reading about my festive card featuring some of the new holiday-themed stamps from the latest release! Happy crafting!
