Halloween Silhouettes

Hello crafty friends, it’s June here! Today I’m sharing my process of this card that I made with a bunch of newly released Halloween products. Let’s get started!

The idea for this card started with the combination of the Halloween Silhouette Background stencil  and the Halloween Silhouettes stamp set. I cut an arch from white cardstock, inked it using Twisted Citron Distress Oxide and picked a part of the stencil where I could find 3 images that I wanted to replace with their stamped counterparts. I thought the cats and the candelabra worked great because of their placement. I stencilled the entire stencil except for the top left cat, because the stencil had its mirror image in that place and I didn’t want it to accidentally show when layering my stamps on top. The other 2 luckily didn’t have that issue, so it worked great! I used Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide for the stencilled pattern and also added some ink splatters using that same ink. I stamped the images using very dark brown ink, not completely black, but it’s more visible in real life.

I was hesitant about my color scheme, but decided to stick to shades of green for the entire card. I cut a piece of mint green cardstock using the Checkered Pierced Plate and darkened the edges a bit using Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide. I also added some splatters of course! I like how it kind of looks like a tiled wall with an arched window, and wanted to add onto that idea by using a Stitched Leafy Border around it, as if they’ve grown around the window. I did a bit of ink blending and added gel pen details aswel. 

I added 2 sentiments because I really wanted one for the center of the window, but I was dying to use the new Banner Greetings 4 with the Halloween Banner Greetings sentiments as well. I decided on the torn edge banner and cut it from the same sage cardstock as the leaves before embossing a sentiment on it. For the middle sentiment, I stamped the ‘Boo’ from Boo Greetings (because it wouldn’t be Boo Greetings without a good Boo sentiment!)
