Summer Theme Week: Day 4

Hello Everyone! Welcome to Day 4 of the Summer Theme Week! It is Zsofi here today with a fun, beachy inspiration mixing the latest release with some older stamps and dies. Let me guide you through the process of how I made this summer card.

First I created the background using the Seashell Background stencil on light blue cardstock. I wanted something simple and couldn’t find my stencil spray adhesive, so I decided to spritz some Distress Mica spray over the stencil. I love how shimmery and unique it turns out every single time! It is my favourite technique with intricate stencils and it is super fast!
Then I stamped some images from the Beach Fun stamp set and the koala from Heart Critters. I coloured them with Copic markers and cut them all out with their coordinating dies.

To set the scene I die cut a piece of heavy weight vellum with the Notched Squares die set and also a scrap piece of kraft cardstock. I cut the latter with the Shoreline border dies and ink blended the edges with some brown ink. I also added dots with brown markers and a white gel pen, it really looks like sand! I assembled the scene and stamped a sentiment on the top right corner from the Sentiment Strips: Summer stamp set.

I cut a little bit off the stenciled background and gave it a dark teal mat before adhering it to an A2 sized top folding notecard. I attached the focal panel and glued a glitter word die cut under it, which I cut with the Summer Script die. I couldn’t resist adding an extra sentiment under it, to make it complete.
As a finishing touch, I used a clear shimmer pen on the ball and the stripes of the surf board. A black glaze pen on the eyes and nose of the koala and glossy accents on the sunglasses and some extra details. I also added some orange twine on the top, it makes it even more cheerful in my eyes.

I hope you liked this card idea and got inspired. I cannot wait to see your beautiful summer creations, make sure to share them in our Facebook group!
Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you soon,
Zsofi
