Hello everyone, it’s June here today and I’m sharing this fun, colorful card using some of the new products from the September release.

Even though it isn’t my usual style, I was instantly drawn to the new Solid Fall Foliage Stamp Set when I saw it. It was the first product I used from the new release because I was SO excited to play around with all the foliage pieces and experiment with different color palettes. I feel like I spent a good hour gathering all my Distress Oxides and coming up with all kinds of color combinations before settling on this magenta-purple-ochre combo.

Here’s a quick rundown of the colors I ended up going with. Every piece of foliage is made up of 2 parts, so in most cases I used 2 shades of ink. But more on that later!

I used Pink Flamingo and Picked Raspberry for the biggest leaves and the cute little mushrooms and acorns, Tattered Rose and Saltwater Taffy for the smaller leaves, Milled Lavender and Seedless Preserves for the oak leaves, Dusty Concord for the flower buds and Fossilized Amber for the remaining leaves.

Now, since I don’t usually do this type of layered stamping, I lacked quite a few shades in my collection to properly layer my images. Distress Oxides don’t really darken up an image by stamping twice like some inks do, so I had to improvise when I realized I only had 1 shade of ochre in my collection. But of course, there was an easy fix: the matching stencil! The Solid Fall Foliage Stencil is the same size as the stamps, which means that you can decide to either stamp or ink blend your leaves before cutting them out. What I did to fix my issue was use a light hand with my leaf stencil, and then stamp the stem on top with the opaque color. I should’ve done this from the start, because I love the slight ombre effect I managed to get by stenciling instead.

I really wanted to use the Many Thanks Shadow dies as my sentiment, so I cut the words out of ochre cardstock 2 times so I could stack them on top of each other for some extra dimension. I did the same for the shadow pieces, but from white cardstock instead.

After playing around with the different foliage pieces for a while, I decided to go for a symmetrical spotlight type of layout, with an open part in the middle where my sentiment could go. I stretched that idea onto my cardbase by using a heavy hand on the outsides of my panel and leaving the inside very light. I used a combo of Pink Flamingo and Saltwater Taffy. I also splattered some Picked Raspberry ink and thinned out white acrylic paint onto my panel.

I adhered all my foliage pieces and the sentiment with 1 mm foam tape to add even more dimension. I love the way it ended up looking! I think it adds a lot of interest to the card.
