Egg-Stra Special Easter

Hi everyone, it’s June here! Today I’m back to share another card made with the new spring and Easter collection.

This release features my favorite cupcakes Pretty Pink Posh has released to date and I instantly got inspired to make a very colorful Easter card. I chose 3 of the cupcakes from Easter Cupcakes and stamped them in Copic friendly brown ink. I wanted to use a lot of spring-y pastel colors, so I colored them mostly in pinks, greens, yellows and neutrals.

Confession time, I’m kinda intimidated by layering stencils that require a lot of different colors like the Layered Butterfly Floral stencils. I’m a tone-on-tone kind of girl, so I went into the process of making my background with some hesitations. But I knew that if I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, this colorful card would be the perfect chance. And strangely enough, I was happy with the first attempt! I started by blending a subtle ‘glow’ of Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide and layered my stencils on top of it with the colors Peacock Feathers, Fossilized Amber, Worn Lipstick and Vintage Photo.

I didn’t get to use the green I used in my cupcakes in the background, so I decided to bring it back as a frame. I cut an Eyelet Rectangle out of white cardstock and matted it onto a piece of green cardstock. I cut my stenciled pattern paper to size and adhered it onto the rectangle.

The card was already very busy, so I didn’t want to introduce more colors with my sentiment. I stamped the scripty ‘Easter’ from the Easter Train stamp set in black onto some white cardstock. I finished off the sentence by embossing some sentiments from the Sentiment Strips: Easter stamp set onto dark brown cardstock and I cut them into strips.

This card was definitely a big step out of my comfort zone, and I encourage everyone to try the same! It was fun to end up with a card that’s totally different from what I usually make and I bet you’d have fun also, so don’t be afraid to try new techniques.

I’ll be back again next month with even more inspiration, see you soon!
