Stencil Theme Week- Day 4

Hi friends! It’s Zsofia here today and I am sharing a fun almost one layer card with the cutest stencil set ever: Layered Dinosaurs. If I had to choose one type of crafty supply as my favourite, I would definitely choose stencils. They are super versatile and easy to use (even my kids love them). Today I will show you how you can make a cute birthday-boy card with selective inking.
As the base I used Neenah Solar white cardstock and I cut it down to be 4,25*5,5 inches. I placed them on my silicone mat (it helps to hold the cardstock in place) and placed the first layer of the stencil over it. I chose light Distress Oxide colours: Twisted Citron, Salvaged Patina, Milled Lavender and Broken China. I like to use smaller blending brushes which allow me to do selective inking. If you have bigger brushes or other blending tools, you can always mask around the area you are working on to avoid the colours mixing. Any Post-it or masking tape would do!
For the second layer I used darker shades of Distress Oxide inks: Mowed Lawn, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet and Peacock Feathers. I simply used a white gel pen for the teeth and horns, so fun to use the stencil as a guide!
For the last layer I used Hickory Smoke and Black Sooth Distress Oxide inks, to complete the scene. After removing the last layer, I used a white gel pen to add highlights and emphasized the eyes of the dinos with a black glaze pen.
For the sentiment I chose the Birthday Sentiment stamp set and stamped it directly on the stencilled image with Versafine Onyx Black ink.
As I am a big fan of dimension on my cards, I could not resist adding a pretty aqua frame and a shiny balloon. The frame I cut with the Fancy Cake die set, the balloon with the Birthday Mug Addition die set from silver glitter cardstock. I embellished it with some Midnight Black jewels and popped it up with 3D foam squares. I used a black fineliner to draw the strings, so it looks like the Triceratops is holding it! Cute isn’t it?
I wish you liked my card and got inspired to do some selective inking. Make sure you come back in the coming days to see all the amazing stencil inspirations from the design team.
Thank you for stopping by,
