Farm Animal Mugs

Good morning, Lindsey here and I’m super excited to share today’s projects with you. I often sketch and plan before I create something, but these just sort of tumbled out in one creative marathon. Once I got started the ideas just kept flowing.  All of these critters were created using the Winter Mug Die and the Easter Mug Additions with a couple exceptions that I will note, but I’m getting ahead of myself…

The Easter Mug Additions were created to build the cutest chicks and bunnies. I made a few different varieties similar to what I had seen on the mock up and then decided to experiment. I started small with this bunny. I combined a couple of the eyes and used the flower die to make a tail.

Then the wheels started turning and it occurred to me that I could probably create other animals. I realized a floppy eared bunny could easily be a dog if I just added a tail (the center of the bunny’s ear).

I had made this chubby chick a little earlier…

And found that a chicken was just a small step from a chick if I simplified the design, swapped the colors, and added its head feathers on the diagonal.

By this time my daughter had noticed the little animals that I was creating and was loving them. Her favorite animal is a cow, so I was determined to make one.

A couple years ago I made a cow cake for her birthday, and since the mug had a similar shape to the tall cake, I knew it could be done. I used the chick’s belly and the centers of the flowers for the cow’s nose. The chick’s feathers turned down became a tuft of hair, and I used the chick feet and heart shaped nose for the cow spots. I even used the inside layer of the bunny’s ears for the horns.

The only thing I had to outsource was the ears. I found them in leaves from the Spring Foliage dies.  

Now that I had the right ears, a horse was the natural next step.

And you could easily swap out the colors to grey to make a donkey.

Now that I had a whole farm going, I knew I had to figure out a pig. I tried to use just the dies from the Easter Mug Additions, but ultimately gave in to the fact that I needed to look elsewhere. I found just what I need in the Valentine Mug Additions.  

I used the strawberry chocolate coating for ears, the oval chocolate for his nose, the swirled icing for his tail, and the negative centers of the swirl for the nostrils.  

These little farm animal mugs are ready to add to a card or be used as a tag or a little lunch box note. My kiddos have already claimed their favorites. I’m curious…which one is your favorite?
