Watercolor Mother’s Day

Hi, friends! It’s Marge here for you today. Mother’s day is soon and I’m going to share a card inspiration for Mother’s Day using the new products from Pretty Pink Posh.

To begin my card, I stamped Peonies stamp set on watercolor paper using Distress Ink Antique Linen, then I colored the blossoms and leaves using my Daniel Smith Watercolor paints and some watercolor brush markers. I added more details using my polychromo pencils and then I die cut all the images using Peonies Coordinating Dies.

I thought the new stencil would be a great background for the peonies, so I chose Wide Stripes Stencil from the new release, and I decided to go with earth-tone colors for stenciling to make a natural mood on my card.

I placed Wide Stripes Stencil onto A2 sized ivory card stock and then sponged warm-brown colored dye ink through the stencil, I didn’t fill all the space, instead, I left some part of the area to give the stenciled pattern some tapering effect and more depth to the shades. I then splattered with white, black and gold inks onto my panel and colored flowers.

I stamped a sentiment from Mother’s Day Stamp set on the top corner of the panel, then I adhered Peonies using Glue Dots and Foam Adhesives. As a final embellishment, I adhered 6mm Metallic Gold Sequins4mm Metallic Gold Sequins, and 3mm Sparkling Clear sequinns and finished off my card.

I hope this card inspired you. These products work together so well and you can make them work for all sorts of occasions.

Thanks for reading this post. Have a great day!

  1. Marge you are such a wonderful water colorist! It must take hours to get these details so perfect! I’ll try to remember to be a bit stingier while stenciling… I love the subtle look you’ve achieved!
This Mom would love to receive such a beautiful card!
