Tutorial: Creating A Shaker with Distress Oxides

Hi Crafters,

It’s Justine Hovey visiting the Pretty Pink Posh blog for my monthly video. Today, I created a shaker card with some heat embossed acetate. If you know my style, you know that I love colour, but I’m not a massive fan of colouring. I wanted to find a way to incorporate gorgeous colours with stamped images from a variety of Pretty Pink Posh Stamp Sets: Hummingbird Thanks, Pretty Petunias, Butterfly Friends (releasing in May) and Love Sentiments. I stamped them in Versafine onto heat-resistant acetate and embossed the images in white.

I created a fun background using some Distress Oxide inks. For this background, I used: Seedless Preserves, Abandoned Coral, and Fossilized Amber. I die cut a frame using the Scallop Frames Dies to use for my shaker. I attached the acetate to it using foam tape.

Lastly, I added the sequins to the background (Assorted Heart Confetti, Spring Blooms Mix, Iridescent Mini Circle Confetti and Sparkling Clear) and covered the coloured panel using the frame I created with the foam tape and acetate. Super fun and easy! I finished it off with a sentiment from the Love Sentiments set. I hope you enjoyed today’s project and you give heat resistant acetate and stamping a try!

I’ll be back in March with another video tutorial. If you enjoyed today’s video, feel free to check out my YouTube Channel.
