Halloween Blog Hop

It’s time for the monthly DeNami blog hop and today the theme is HALLOWEEN. If you have started from the beginning, you should be arriving from Leah’s post. Isn’t that girl a cutie pie? I always adore seeing her cute creations! Whenever I hear she’s participating in a blog hop, I get a little giddy.  I think we have a future blogger/ paper craft superstar in the making!

Over the years, I’ve created all sorts of Halloween cards, so creating some new and extraordinary is a rarity. I decided to go with a familiar card layout and change things up slightly with my stamp choices. The end result? A box exploding with candy corn!

In THIS post, I mentioned I would share what we did growing up for Halloween. Since we didn’t go trick or treating (yes, I have NEVER been), when we lived in a development, we would have hundreds of kids stop by and we would give out candy with verses on it. Once we moved out to the country, we started a different tradition. Okay….don’t laugh… Since my mom is such a huge fan of Christmas, we started decorating for Christmas on Halloween. Yes, you read that correctly. Our weeks tend to fill up quickly towards the end of the year, so having this night to get decorate works. As the years have gone by, I start to look forward to having a pretty tree up strung out with lights and decor scattered about the house by November. Bet y’all didn’t expect this to be our tradition! *wink*

I know you still have a few other stops left, so I’ll wrap this up. Head on over to Jennifer Loftfield’s blog to continue on with the hop! Be sure to leave comments on each blog stop. DeNami is giving away gift certificates to two random comments, so you won’t want to pass up the chance at a mini shopping spree!

I hope you’ve been inspired by my card today. Thanks for spending some time with me today!

  1. Paulina, I absolutely love how you have created a box of exploding candy corn. That is one of my and Leah’s favorite Halloween treats. I love the gingham background with the black and yellow! Gorgeous card!!!

  2. What a great card! WOW–never went out trick or treating–incredible! Although my kids were never really big on the whole going out thing..they preferred to give out!

  3. I love this! So cute how the candy corn is falling in the box. And the cat is adorable.

  4. I love this Paulina! Perfect stamping, coloring, layout…everything! FABULOUS fun Halloween design!
P.S. Our family would decorate for Christmas the day after Halloween…so I don’t feel so alone now! lol :)

  5. LOVE LOVE LOVE the open box – but are they falling in or exploding out? Works either way – such a cute cute card!

  6. Your card made me giggle; that cat looks so guilty…LOL
It was just great to read about your tradition. I live in South Africa and don’t celebrate Halloween.
I just love the idea of getting ready for Christmas by November…I’m going to try it this year, then I won’t be so rushed by 1 December!

  7. Oh I love the exploding box of candy corn. My guilty pleasure this time of year no doubt!

What a great tradition~ We lived out in the country growing up, so my Mom would drive me to a few friends house to trick-or-treat or we would go to a “fall” fest sponsored by our Church. I never had a scary costume, and I don’t like creepy or scary!

  8. Cute card! The colors are soft and fun! More candy corn is always good! Wonder if the cat likes it too?!

  9. Super cute card – love all the layers and that sassy black cat.

  13. Paulina this is adorable, love your explosion of candy corn!! We have MANY neighbors who decorate on Thanksgiving day but you are the winner with Halloween!!!

  14. Totally cute…especially cause I love me some candy corn! Your story is too funny because my hubby is that way. If Christmas trees were on sale during Halloween he would totally put one up. Once he sees Christmas decorations (like in Hallmark during the summer) he is itching for Christmas to come around. Gotta love the enthusiasm.

  15. This is just too fun, Paulina!! That little box is so versatile and I need to start pulling it out a little more often :)

  16. Paulina, this is sooooo cute! Of course it’s awesome! You’re such a superstar! I must say, I can’t imagine never going trick of treating, but being a Christmas buff myself, I love the idea of putting up Christmas decorations! My family always had a rule about “No Christmas music before Thanksgiving” BUT…as a professional singer/actress for several years, I had to start rehearsing in October, so I HAD to break that rule! WOOHOO!

  17. I love Christmas – I say decorate as soon as you want to! Adorable card – love the box of candy corn.

  18. This is so sweet and adorable and I think it reflects your style well. I really enjoy seeing all the things stampers create with that box and exploding candy corn is pretty epic!

  19. Super cute! I love candy corn images and I LOVE the way you have these bursting out of the box for a celebration of fun!
