Today I’m a guest designer over on Little Tangles, the challenge site for Neat and Tangled. Some of you may remember that I was a part of the Sequin Series back in May. I featured a sequin shaker {post and video tutorial HERE} and it’s been SO neat to see many of you take on my technique on your creations.
For some reason, whenever I used Neat & Tangled, I almost feel the NEED to incorporate sequins. After all, their sequins are what got me on the sequin bandwagon and we all know I’m a tad bit obsessed with them. {Yes, I even dedicated a whole Pinterest board to them!}
For the challenge this week, Little Tangles is doing a color challenge and the colors are light yellow, pink and gray. I pulled out the Fresh Blooms set and created this sequin shaker card.
If I could change one thing, I wouldn’t have added color or glitter to the bloom in the corner. It looks great in real life, but on this picture, it looks off colored and the glitter messy. Oh well….live and learn.
If you’re up for a color challenge, join the girls over at Little Tangles this week. I know they would love to have you join along!
I’ll be back tomorrow with a post- what kind? You’ll just have to wait and see. {Honestly, I’m not sure yet!} Thanks for popping in and spending some time with me today.
It’s EXTREMELY rare for me to participate in blog challenges these days. Between the whirlwind that is my life right now and keeping up with my own challenge, it seems like I’m never “on it” and can post something within a challenge deadline. Well, today is going to be an exception. I was having a bad health day and thanks to my iPhone, was able to peruse my usual blogs. I saw that Stephanie was hosting her first Clearly Besotted Challenge and I’m thrilled I was able to make something for it!
At the moment I only own one CB set/ die, Full Steam Ahead, so it wasn’t hard to come up with which stamps to use. The hard part? Trying to vary the card from the one I did in the past {seehere}. While it does have a similar feel, I changed it up as best as I could.
Confession: if I could, I would add chevron twill ribbon and sequins to every.single.thing I create. {For my regular readers, you all probably know this by now!}
While it’s rare for me to play in a challenge, it’s even rarer for me to participate in one that has a prize. Oh my, Stephanie has a GREAT one for this challenge- five sets of the winner’s choice. *jaw drop* I am utterly in love with her growing company and her most recent sets are absolutely beautiful.
That’s going to wrap up today’s post. In closing, I want to say thank you to those who has reached out to me in emails and on Twitter. The last week has been extremely difficult on me in different aspects and I’m grateful for the encouraging words and emails. Truly.
Oh my, I can’t believe it has been a full week since my last post. I have returned from my mini vacation and after FIVE days away from the computer, I must say it’s a little weird getting back into the swing of things again. Now that I’m back, it’s time to start going over the beautiful Craft Dash DT applications, the latest challenge submissions {highlights post going live next Tuesday}, and also planning some exciting behind-the-scenes things. It’s going to be a busy couple of weeks, but I can’t wait to share some of the things I’ve been working on!
I fully intended to post a card that didn’t have sequins on it, but alas, I didn’t have any photographed and ready to go. Judging from the comments and amount of entries for the Sequins Giveaway, I’m guessing many of you won’t mind that I have another sequin card to share.
Do you notice anything a little different about this card? Instead of doing straight lines of sequins, I made them curve a bit {yes, I didn’t it on purpose}. I thought it was a little more fun and went great with the feel of the card.
It makes me so happy to see my love of sequins has been passed along to many of you. For those who have posted links, I’ll check them out soon! If you haven’t already, feel free to post the latest project featuring sequins- I would love to take a peek!
I hope you all have a great rest of your Wednesday. Thanks so much for stopping in!
As you’re reading this, I’m currently at the airport en route on my first mini vacation in years. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to still go, due to my health problems, but I went ahead and still kept my plans. My best friend, her sister and I are headed to San Francisco, where we’ll meet up with my sister, who recently moved there. I’m so excited to finally see this city I’ve heard about! I plan on taking pictures and uploading on Instagram along the way, so follow me if you’d like a peek into my trip.
In my effort to change things up a bit, I put together a craft haul post. You can see what I purchased in the video and then all of the links are located below.
Have you purchased anything recently? Big or small hauls, I would love to read or see what you got. It’s always so fun when my friends post what they got on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Seeing what caught their eye and then later see how they used the products makes my heart happy. Also, sometimes seeing what another person purchases sometimes prompts purchases from friends! :)
That’s going to wrap up this post today. I brought my laptop with me, so hopefully I can sneak in a post or two while I’m here. No promises though!
I think I need a nickname having to do with sequins- I cannot get enough! It seems like no matter how much I try to create cards without them, they somehow make a way onto my creations. I am hopelessly and utterly addicted.
It’s that time again…..GIVEAWAY time! As promised, I have another sequin giveaway and I’m thrilled to say that this one is being sponsored by Neat & Tangled! I picked out five of my favorite sequin colors {do you realize how hard this was….it’s like picking a favorite child!} and Danielle graciously provided them as the giveaway.
Seeing as there’s a giveaway, I thought it appropriate to share a card showcasing the colors the lucky winner will be receiving. All you need for this cutie are some star dies, sequins and a sentiment, easy peasy!
For those new to my blog, in case you need some inspiration on sequins, I have lots to share. I debated on the easiest way to share all of the links and decided creating a Pinterest board would be the way to go. Click here to all of my sequin creations.
Okay, now let’s get to the good stuff….. the details of the giveaway and all the different ways you can enter!
Everyone likes to hear about a giveaway, so be sure to share, tweet and email all of your friends about the giveaway!
I hope that with each sequin post, I’m passing along my love of them to more of you, my amazing readers. If you’ve created crafty projects with sequins, I’d love to take a peek. Feel free to leave a comment with the direct blog link to your post(s) so the fellow sequin lovers and I can take a peek. :)
It makes me excited to hear that many of you are looking forward to the upcoming DT call. Stay tuned, all the details will be posted tomorrow morning! If you have plans and are afraid you’ll miss the news, don’t worry, you can get my upcoming posts sent directly to your email inbox! Subscribe to Pretty Pink Posh via Email
With a rough patch in my health, I haven’t had a chance to create anything in quite a while. Thanks to my little stash of cards that haven’t been posted, I still have something to share! Did you hear that Avery Elle is now available at Ellen Hutson? Woohoo! Today’s card is courtesy of the beautiful set,Petals & Stems. {Other cards I’ve made with this set can be found here, here and here}
It may be a little hard to see in the picture, but I did my sequin/ rhinestone layers again. I just love how it looks and how it can bring two types of bling together! Also, how fun are these Hero Arts colored ink pads?
That’s going to wrap up this post. Today is my youngest brothers birthday, so I have plans to take him to Target and let him have a mini shopping spree. Also, it just so happens that it’s in the same city as Ellen Hutson, so I’ll be stopping by there as well. I think it’s a win-win all around! :)
Mother’s Day is on Sunday and I was scrambling to find the energy to create a special card for my mom. With my mom being the owner of a stamp company, I always find the need to “top” the last card I gave to her. Let me tell you, this is not an easy feat and sometimes I fail miserably. However, thanks to my infatuation with sequins {and shakers}, I think she’ll be pleasantly surprised with this card. She’s seen my recent creations and now she gets her very own shaker!
Okay, truth be told, I have already given her this card. I knew she would see it on the blog {since she reads daily}, so I gave her the card a little early. ‘Tis the life of a crafter and blogger!
My mom has a love for pinks and greens, so I definitely made an effort to include them in this card. You would think that after making her cards for all these years I wouldn’t get nervous about doing them, but I still do! I think it’s the desire to want to make her proud that gets to me…. thankfully, despite many flops over the years, she still likes my cards and also has something sweet to say about them.
Some of my readers have been able to meet my mom over the years, and I’m sure you’ll agree she’s a special woman. It’s not easy raising five kids, homeschooling all of them and also running a business. If I ever have the privilege of being a mother, I hope that I’m able to be the amazing example and role model she has been able to be for me.
I wanted to pay a little homage to my mom, so I have a list of five things my mother has taught and passed along to me over the years. {Why five? Because she has five kids!}…..
A love for creating cards {especially those with pinks and green and lots of bling} all stem from watching my mom do it when I was younger.
A heart to encourage others with small acts of kindness or words were brought on by seeing her do this for numerous people over my lifetime.
An unbreakable bond with family stems from those moments when we had many special family gatherings and holidays growing up. While sometimes we drive each other crazy, we love each other so much and would do anything for one another.
A hunger to keep learning and growing as a person. I can recall many times while going to the library as a kid, seeing her checkout different how-to books. Even now, she continues to have a passion for learning new things– I want to be like that when I’m her age!
A desire to share Christ’s love and hope with people around me from listening and watching her do this countless time with strangers and acquaintances. If you have something so special, why keep it to yourself?
For all of the mothers out there, I hope that you all have a truly blessed Mother’s Day weekend. Each of you has such a special role in a child’s life and I hope that you feel the love and know impact you make on our lives. For all of us kiddos, let’s be sure to shower our moms with love and kindness and share how much they truly mean to us.
Big, big hugs to all of you today. I’m off to a doctors appointment in just a bit and hopefully this one will provide some answers and physical relief! I hope you’ll come back on Monday- Hilari will be here with her very first feature as a contributor to Pretty Pink Posh!
I’m back with another sequin shaker card! When I created my original shaker card {post here}, I was so taken with all the fun sequins shakin’ about, I could resist making a few cards with this technique. Today we’re going under the sea and swimming with some adorable little critters who seem to enjoy the sequins, too!
Since I went girly for the last card, I wanted to go the opposite direction and go bright & bold for this one. Thanks to my large rainbow of sequin colors, I had many colors that would work in this shaker. While I would love to hoard all of these beauties, it’s just so hard to resist adding them to all of my cards!
Oh yes, I pulled out some more chevron twill ribbon for this card. If you’ve been eying these ribbons, be sure to check out Little Free Radical on Etsy! They are a sponsor on my blog this month and their service/ prices are fabulous!
Just in case you missed the video from my earlier post, here’s how I create my sequin shaker cards. Switch out the patterned papers/ stamps and you can create shakers for any occasion!
It warms my heart when you all share that you liked a card or technique I did and tried it out yourself. As a designer who spends quite a bit of time creating, knowing that that hard work is appreciated and well received is such a joy. I already had two gals share their sequin shaker card creations with me and I feel like a proud mama. :) If you give this tutorial a whirl, I’d love to see your creations!
Thanks for spending some time with me today, I hope you were inspired!
It’s always an exciting day when you get to spill news that you’ve been holding onto for a while. It’s even more exciting when the news has to do with sequins!
I’m the guest designer over on the Neat & Tangled blog today for the last part of the sequin series. For those who don’t follow that blog, each day this week they have showcased different ideas on how you can incorporate sequins onto a variety of projects. With all of those creative ideas, there was so much pressure to create something amazing. While my idea isn’t something super original, it IS something new and a technique I’ve never tried.
I present my take on a shaker card….with sequins, of course!
I’m sure that many of my readers have created shaker cards before. For some reason, I’ve always been intimidated by the thought of them and never took the time to create one myself. Well, I can cross this off my list- it has now been accomplished!
I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and video and give this technique a try. If you do, feel free to leave your blog link in a comment and I’ll take a peek at your post!
I just love introducing my readers to new {to me} companies and today I get to do just that. I recently stumbled across the company Clearly Besotted Stamps and was in awe of the vast variety of stamps and dies they design. While I had wanted many of their sets, the Full Steam Ahead set and dies caught my eye first. How cute is that little train?!
Truth be told, I actually received this set before, or right around, the time I first got my first batch of sequins. With my excitement of the sequins taking over my craft life, I didn’t immediately pull out this set. Once I got a little more time and was sparked with some creativity, I decided I was going to try to use the train with my sequins and patterned paper.
I had one of those “I can’t believe I made this” moments when I finished this card. It was exactly how I envisioned and I have to rave about these little dies- they work SO well! I have many more ideas for this train, so don’t be surprised if you see it again in the near future. *wink*
I don’t often work with companies that are outside the United States, mostly due to me being so impatient and wanting the products NOW. With that being said, I was SO impressed with how quickly my order was shipped, the great customer service, the quality of items and the fact that they arrived pretty quickly! It’s a win all the way around!
This stamp set and die set are currently out of stock, but I believe they’re being restocked in the future. I’ll see about getting an ETA and I’ll update this post when I do. :)
*The stamps and dies are scheduled to be restocked on Monday, May 6th!
That’s a wrap for today’s post. I will see you tomorrow for some more sequins AND a video!
