Happy {early} Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is on Sunday and I was scrambling to find the energy to create a special card for my mom. With  my mom being the owner of a stamp company, I always find the need to “top” the last card I gave to her. Let me tell you, this is not an easy feat and sometimes I fail miserably. However, thanks to my infatuation with sequins {and shakers}, I think she’ll be pleasantly surprised with this card. She’s seen my recent creations and now she gets her very own shaker!

Okay, truth be told, I have already given her this card. I knew she would see it on the blog {since she reads daily}, so I gave her the card a little early. ‘Tis the life of a crafter and blogger!

My mom has a love for pinks and greens, so I definitely made an effort to include them in this card. You would think that after making her cards for all these years I wouldn’t get nervous about doing them, but I still do! I think it’s the desire to want to make her proud that gets to me…. thankfully, despite many flops over the years, she still likes my cards and also has something sweet to say about them.

Some of my readers have been able to meet my mom over the years, and I’m sure you’ll agree she’s a special woman. It’s not easy raising five kids, homeschooling all of them and also running a business. If I ever have the privilege of being a mother, I hope that I’m able to be the amazing example and role model she has been able to be for me.

I wanted to pay a little homage to my mom, so I have a list of five things my mother has taught and passed along to me over the years. {Why five? Because she has five kids!}…..

  • A love for creating cards {especially those with pinks and green and lots of bling} all stem from watching my mom do it when I was younger.
  • A heart to encourage others with small acts of kindness or words were brought on by seeing her do this for numerous people over my lifetime.
  • An unbreakable bond with family stems from those moments when we had many special family gatherings and holidays growing up. While sometimes we drive each other crazy, we love each other so much and would do anything for one another.
  • A hunger to keep learning and growing as a person. I can recall many times while going to the library as a kid, seeing her checkout different how-to books. Even now, she continues to have a passion for learning new things– I want to be like that when I’m her age!
  • A desire to share Christ’s love and hope with people around me from listening and watching her do this countless time with strangers and acquaintances. If you have something so special, why keep it to yourself?

For all of the mothers out there, I hope that you all have a truly blessed Mother’s Day weekend. Each of you has such a special role in a child’s life and I hope that you feel the love and know impact you make on our lives. For all of us kiddos, let’s be sure to shower our moms with love and kindness and share how much they truly mean to us.

Big, big hugs to all of you today. I’m off to a doctors appointment in just a bit and hopefully this one will provide some answers and physical relief! I hope you’ll come back on Monday- Hilari will be here with her very first feature as a contributor to Pretty Pink Posh!

  1. Oh Paulina you are so heart warming! Your post is so special, not to mention your card for your mother is so gorgeous! Any mom would for sure love to receive a beautiful card as yours. Your mother will probably be in tears aftering reading the five things that you posted about what she has taught you over the years. To be able to say something so powerful and so full of love about another person you love so much, in a public eye is true bravery, courage and strength. Keep it up my friend, as you are already becoming your mother and following in her footsteps. Thank you for the Mother’s day wishes, I hope to get some crafting in on Sunday. Please tell your mother (whom I’ve not had the privledge of meeting yet) that I wish her a beautiful Mother’s day as well.

  3. This is utterly darling! I’m loving the shaker cards you’ve made :)

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting your Mom (and was overwhelmed with her kindness), and I’ve gotten to know her a little through you. She is a wonderful person to have in your life! I can say that with certainty because I feel like I know you pretty well at this point and feel that you are such a beautiful person inside (and outside too of course!)that she must be just as wonderful as you since she has sculpted and molded you into the amazing friend that you are. Happy Mother’s Day to Nami!!!

  4. Ah, what a fabulous post about your sweet mom! She is one amazing lady! You did a great job on the card – I’m sure she will love the colors! Your new love for sequins makes me “need” to buy some! Hope you have a great weekend!

Quick question for you, where do you buy your foam tape in the industrial size? I would love to purchase some. Thank you.

    1. Hi Kristie! I get my foam tape in the industrial size as a wholesaler….I just did a search on Amazon and it looks like they have some there! :) Email me if you’d like the direct link(s)!

  6. This is lovely Paulina! I love how the sequins mimic the pretty flowers and their colors! I’m betting your momma is proud of you, no what you produce! A mother loves the sentiment, the effort on her behalf, and just because it’s from her child to her! And what you have to say on the inside, the actual meat of the card, is what matters most of all! That could never disappoint! You are a very thoughtful daughter!

  7. I have loved all of your shaker cards this week and this one is exceptional. I am sure your mom loved it because it is absolutely gorgeous. And I am sure she is beaming after reading all of the nice things you have wrote about her. I hope she has a fantastic Mother’s Day!!
