Flowers

Bright Florals

For those who haven’t noticed, I’m a tad bit obsessed with my Hero Arts colored ink pads right now. As my collection of them are slowly growing, I’m able to do more color layering and adding new colors to my favorites. As of right now, the colors in today’s card are my go-to ink pad colors at the moment….

I pulled out a few WPlus9 sets, Folk Art Florals and Filigreed Frames {a set/ die that I’m currently selling}. There is something about this color combination that screams summer, and that’s alright with me. Living in Seattle, it’s not uncommon for summer to start later for us. I’m eagerly awaiting the days when I can pull out my sunglasses, flipflops and iced Starbucks beverages for days on end. In the meantime, I’ll be reaching for my summery inks and stamps.

*ETA I’m linking this up for the last Cloud9 blog hop

Since I’ve been using sequins so often, my beloved rhinestones have been neglected. I thought it was time to break them out again, and I must say, they make cards shine beautifully. Just a few little bits of bling and it makes an ordinary card a little more special.

prettypinkposh_thankyou1b

I want to thank you all for leaving your feedback regarding the test post I did on Friday. It sounds like you all are up for me posting this feature regularly, so I have one planned for July. In the meantime, hopefully I can pick-up some of the products I listed {or receive as birthday gifts} and do a haul video showcasing them a little more in depth. If any of you purchase any of the items I listed, I’d love to hear/ see how you use them!

If you haven’t already, be sure to subscribe by email so you can get all of my posts directly to you inbox so you won’t miss ANY news! I’ll be back tomorrow for the 10 Minute Craft Dash #19 Highlights. Hope to see you then!

Happy {early} Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is on Sunday and I was scrambling to find the energy to create a special card for my mom. With  my mom being the owner of a stamp company, I always find the need to “top” the last card I gave to her. Let me tell you, this is not an easy feat and sometimes I fail miserably. However, thanks to my infatuation with sequins {and shakers}, I think she’ll be pleasantly surprised with this card. She’s seen my recent creations and now she gets her very own shaker!

Okay, truth be told, I have already given her this card. I knew she would see it on the blog {since she reads daily}, so I gave her the card a little early. ‘Tis the life of a crafter and blogger!

My mom has a love for pinks and greens, so I definitely made an effort to include them in this card. You would think that after making her cards for all these years I wouldn’t get nervous about doing them, but I still do! I think it’s the desire to want to make her proud that gets to me…. thankfully, despite many flops over the years, she still likes my cards and also has something sweet to say about them.

prettypinkposh_mother1a

Some of my readers have been able to meet my mom over the years, and I’m sure you’ll agree she’s a special woman. It’s not easy raising five kids, homeschooling all of them and also running a business. If I ever have the privilege of being a mother, I hope that I’m able to be the amazing example and role model she has been able to be for me.

I wanted to pay a little homage to my mom, so I have a list of five things my mother has taught and passed along to me over the years. {Why five? Because she has five kids!}…..

  • A love for creating cards {especially those with pinks and green and lots of bling} all stem from watching my mom do it when I was younger.
  • A heart to encourage others with small acts of kindness or words were brought on by seeing her do this for numerous people over my lifetime.
  • An unbreakable bond with family stems from those moments when we had many special family gatherings and holidays growing up. While sometimes we drive each other crazy, we love each other so much and would do anything for one another.
  • A hunger to keep learning and growing as a person. I can recall many times while going to the library as a kid, seeing her checkout different how-to books. Even now, she continues to have a passion for learning new things– I want to be like that when I’m her age!
  • A desire to share Christ’s love and hope with people around me from listening and watching her do this countless time with strangers and acquaintances. If you have something so special, why keep it to yourself?

prettypinkposh_mother1b

For all of the mothers out there, I hope that you all have a truly blessed Mother’s Day weekend. Each of you has such a special role in a child’s life and I hope that you feel the love and know impact you make on our lives. For all of us kiddos, let’s be sure to shower our moms with love and kindness and share how much they truly mean to us.

Big, big hugs to all of you today. I’m off to a doctors appointment in just a bit and hopefully this one will provide some answers and physical relief! I hope you’ll come back on Monday- Hilari will be here with her very first feature as a contributor to Pretty Pink Posh!

Sequin Shaker

sequinseries

It’s always an exciting day when you get to spill news that you’ve been holding onto for a while. It’s even more exciting when the news has to do with sequins!

I’m the guest designer over on the Neat & Tangled blog today for the last part of the sequin series. For those who don’t follow that blog, each day this week they have showcased different ideas on how you can incorporate sequins onto a variety of projects. With all of those creative ideas, there was so much pressure to create something amazing. While my idea isn’t something super original, it IS something new and a technique I’ve never tried.

I present my take on a shaker card….with sequins, of course!

Pretty Pink Posh

I’m sure that many of my readers have created shaker cards before. For some reason, I’ve always been intimidated by the thought of them and never took the time to create one myself. Well, I can cross this off my list- it has now been accomplished!

I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and video and give this technique a try. If you do, feel free to leave your blog link in a comment and I’ll take a peek at your post!

Country Petals + Shop

I am so impressed with a few of my readers {don’t worry, I LOVE you all, I’m just amazed at a few}. Late Sunday night I posted the “shop” section on the blog and had slowly started to add some of the items I’m selling there. Since I’ve been under the weather, it’s been a slow process getting everything up– for some reason, feeling light-headed and nauseous comes at the most inopportune times! Anyhow, getting back on topic, I quietly posted the page and was so surprised that a few already noticed and started checking things out. Way to go super observant readers! I still have quite a bit more to post, but if you want to buy anything now, the page is up.

This week the 10 Minute Craft Dash #16 is being sponsored by Avery Elle. I am loving the latest AE addition to my stamp collection, Petals & Stems. This set is so much fun to use and I love how easy it was to quickly cut out these bold images! Since I had used this set in a bold way previously, I thought I would switch it up and go a more subtle, almost country feel this time around.

prettypinkposh_averyelle2a

In yesterday’s post, I LOVED that Cindy noticed I still managed to get sequins into the photo even though I didn’t add them to my card. She’s so observant! I wanted to share that there’s actually some reasons I’ve been adding them to my pictures, in case any of you were wondering.

  1. They’re inexpensive and are a great “filler” for pictures.
  2. They help my camera pick up on colors from the cards, hence making the pictures better. {Weird, right?}
  3. I will find any way possible to include sequins on/ in anything. I have an full-on obsession.

prettypinkposh_averyelle2b

This week was  scheduled full of different things I was supposed to go to {including my very first women’s conference}. I REALLY don’t want to miss any of these things, so the plan is to just go to work and rest up as much as possible. If you think of it, I’d love prayers as far as this sickness bug– it’s definitely not something I need and it’s throwing everything out of whack, including flaring up my back pain. Yucky stuff. I know quite a few of my readers are prayer warriors, so I’ll welcome any prayers! :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope all of you are staying healthy and your week is off to a great start!

Spring Tulips

I know it’s technically Spring, but sadly the weather here in Washington hasn’t reflected the season change. We had a couple of days with sunshine a while back, but now it seems to be all rain and we even had some hail here over the weekend. I am so ready for more sunshine- this dreary weather is just not fun anymore. If I could transplant my family, friends and job to another state, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

Since the sun hasn’t been shining lately, I thought I’d bring a little sunshine to the blog today. After all, we could all use a little more sunshine in our day, right?

prettypinkposh_tulips1a

The current Product Spotlight over on the DeNami blog is the Elegant Oval Frame. What does that mean? It’s 10% off until Wednesday! I LOVE this stamp so much, it was so hard for me to put it down so I could move onto other projects. If you didn’t get to see the post where the DT created items using it, click here.

prettypinkposh_tulips1b

I hope that you all get a little sunshine today. I’ll see you tomorrow for the 10 Minute Craft Dash #15 Highlights post. I went through all of the entries and left comments and boy, this one is definitely going to be a tough decision. So thankful I have helpers to help me make the final decision! Thank you to everyone who took the time to play along and share their talents!

Blissful Botanical Thanks + Video

Today I not only have a card for the 10 Minute Craft Dash #14 {sponsored by Lawn Fawn}, I also have a video showing how I created it! I don’t post a video for each challenge for a few different reasons…one of the main ones, I’m a perfectionist and I truly dislike how these videos show me scrambling about. I have no problem crafting with a timer when the camera isn’t rolling, but when it is, it’s like I freeze up!

I won’t go into detail of how I created this card, since it’s shown in the video. *wink* If you don’t already, I hope that you’ll subscribe to the Pretty Pink Posh YouTube channel. As I’m getting the hang of the lighting, working on camera and showcasing techniques, I’m hoping to post videos more regularly.

Do you spy that scrumptious ribbon? I bought a WHOLE bunch of it from one of my blog sponsors, Little Free Radical, in eight different colors. Crystal is such a sweetheart, has an amazingly fast turnaround time and her products are lovely! {Yes, I’m totally encouraging you to check out her site!}

CD_14_2b

Okay, now onto the craziness video…. As I was re-watching this video, I noticed there are a lot of awkward silence pauses. Eeek! This is what a video looks like raw and uncut.

That’s going to wrap up this post, sweet blog friends. I will be back tomorrow with a nautical inspired card and some cupcakes! Hope to see you then!

Thankful For You

If it were possible, I would give each and every person who visited my blog yesterday a hug. You all have BLOWN ME AWAY with how you have spread the word about my blog, your heartfelt emails and sweet comments. Yesterday was officially the highest amount of visits in the five years I’ve been blogging to date. Here’s to another big milestone….Thank you from the very bottom of my heart. Today’s card is dedicated to all of YOU!

I have to admit, I am so happy with how this card turned out. The bright and happy colors are really making me look forward to Spring and all of the glittery flowers just make me swoon. Does anyone else wish that glittery flowers were real? If anyone sees some, let me know. *wink*

thankful1a

If you’ve followed my blog for a little bit, you know that I am in love with my Martha Stewart Picket Fence punch. Yesterday I created more cards and yes, you may see it again on more cards soon. Right next to my scallop punches, this one is next on my “must have” list.

thankful1b

I hope that you all have a wonderful day and can feel the love I’m sending your direction. I am a little bit behind on replying to emails, but if you have written to me, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. It’s been a little hectic working on upcoming sponsorships for the blog and 10 Minute Craft Dash, along with collaborations and other things. Lots of fun stuff brewing here on Pretty Pink Posh!

I will talk with you all very soon. Thanks for stopping by!

My Favorite Crafting Tool….

Today’s a fun day for me- I’m doing a special feature over on the DeNami Addict blog! Basically, this feature showcases some must-have  crafting tools and reasons on why the blogger loves it. Easy enough, right? Wrong. I had the hardest time choosing what I wanted to feature!

After pondering for a few weeks, I finally decided I wanted to share my love of my Big Shot machine with all of you. I hope I didn’t scare you away…..I know it’s a pricey item. I want to share all of the reasons I LOVE my machine and how it’s been an investment I wish I made sooner.

Below is a card that uses a decorative shape I die cut, and dry embossed with a folder. These simple little additions change up the card and add texture and elegance in just a few easy steps.

Valentine Flowers

Valentine’s Day is approaching quickly and I feel so behind in creating all sorts of cute pink & red crafty items. It’s so hard to resist the huge aisles at the stores stocked with cute decor, candies, and stuffed animals. It’s literally everywhere. Despite being single at this stage in my life, I love this holiday. {I’ll blog about it more soon}

I have a huge stockpile of Valentine products and I’m hoping to get lots of cute items created and posted this week. Since it had been a few days since I was in the studio, I felt like my creativity was in need of a kick start. What better way than to start with some heart flowers? Oh how I wish there were flowers like this in real life!

hearts1a

While I’m definitely a pink lover, over the years my love for red has grown leaps and bounds. This color is so bold and looks amazing in all sorts of products. My favorites? Rhinestones and glitter! {Red nails are pretty fab though}

hearts1b

I’m so glad that you joined me today. Be sure to stay tuned all this week– I’ll have the 10 Minute Craft Dash #10 Highlights post , the DT announcement, the giveaway winner post and some other fun things mixed in. Springtime Flowers

You all know how to bring a smile to my face. I seriously love reading the blog posts that are submitted for the 10 Minute Craft Dash. Hearing the behind-the-scenes stories is my favorite part about the challenge. There have been quite a few posts where I have literally laughed at loud- you all make me feel like I’m right there with you! If you ever have a funny story that has to do with my challenge, feel free to blog it!

There are two more days in the 10 Minute Craft Dash #10 and I have one last card to share using this color palette. I must say that seeing all of the beautiful entries definitely inspired me for this card. I wanted to push myself and decided to stamp my own patterned paper within the time limit. My life saver? Colored ink pads!
