Papertrey February Blog Hop

My card was inspired from these cards by Michelle Wooderson.

Wow, is it already the 25th again?! You know what the means…it’s the time for the Papertrey Blog Hop! This month we were called to find a card/project from a PTI DT member and use their project as inspiration. I found Michelle’s cards to be so inspiring. Love how fresh they feel!

For my take on the card I used the Funky Foliage stamp set for WPlus9. Such a fun set and these particular trees kinda look like shamrocks. ;) If you follow my blog you know that I love to add scraps/ strips of paper to my cards. As soon as I saw Michelle’s color combo and the fact there were strips of paper AND buttons, I knew I had to use her cards as my inspiration.

You may notice at the bottom of the card that I did some paper piercing. I love how a little tool can add so much to a card! Funny story: my sister was looking at this card IRL and asked how I added those “dots” (paper piercing). I told her that I did it by hand. She thought I was lying! She asked, “No, really. How did you do it?” I told her that I really did it by hand and it took forever. Her response? “Wow, that’s a waste of time”. Yeah….she just doesn’t get it. ;)

Thanks for stopping by, friends! I hope you were inspired!

We have made it to another Wednesday! I hope you all had a fabulous day. I kept super busy at work, which helped made the day go by really quickly.

Today I am so pleased to announce that DeNami Design has launched their new and improved blog! Numerous hours were spent and perfecting this new blog. 2 Sketches 4 You- Laura’s Sketch #46

I’m so excited that I was able to play along with another 2S4Y sketch! This week, the fabulous Laura designed the sketch. I have been able to get to know Laura a little more these past few months- she’s such a dear! We have some similar passions (exercising, cardmaking and food). I’m hoping that someday I’ll be able to actually meet her- wouldn’t that be so neat?!

I love this Mimi in the Rain stamp. My favorite part of the stamp? The polka dot rainboots! I don’t own any rainboots, but if I did they would look similar to these! If you click on the photo, you can see that I added some magenta glitter to both the boots and the umbrella. Oh how I love glitter. :)

I just received my blog candy and let me tell ya, you all will love it! I’ll give you a clue: it has to do with Sizzix and they are BRAND NEW! Make sure you become a follower so you can be one of the first to know when the candy is posted!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’ll get a chance to play with this super fun sketch from 2S4Y!

Showers of Blessings

Brrrrr….it’s freezing in Washington this morning! When I went out to my car, the sun was shining but it was a frigid 30*. It took a good 10 minutes before the windows finally defrosted. The past few days it has been 60*, so I’m hoping that the coldness will wear off as the day goes progresses.

Okay, let’s move on to today’s card. I’m using one of my favorite color combos- Brown Kraft, White, Raspberry Fizz and Aqua Mist. This combo screams fresh, fun and just plain yummy! I used the sentiment and umbrella from Scattered Showers and then used the decorative flourish design from Vintage Labels on the Raspberry Fizz cardstock. Super easy card to whip up!

Right now I’m currently debating on whether I want to create a video or photos for the bow tutorial. I think my voice sounds horrible on recordings, but it would be easier for you all to see exactly how I create a bow. However, I have NEVER created a tutorial and have no idea on how to edit a video. Hmmm….any thoughts, suggestions or tips?

Lots of exciting things happening on my blog in the next week. I’ll have some blog candy, my Papertrey blog hop post and on March 1st, I’ll have a couple exciting posts to share! Be sure to keep on checking back!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you were inspired!

Dove Mini Cards

Hey there!
I hope you all had a great Saturday! Today was a busy, but fun day. I had a session with my personal trainer (even though I work out often, I’m still out of shape!). I recently switched my workout schedule from 5 days to 6 days a week. I’m thinking my body isn’t used to the change since lately I have been feeling super weak. I may have to switch back….more time for crafting! :) I also went to the outlet mall and got a brand new purse and wallet. Since I got my tax refund, I told myself I could splurge and buy something fun. Last year I also bought a new purse with my refund- this might be a new tradition!

Today I’m showcasing some easy-to-make mini cards. You may remember me using this DeNami Design curly dove before- I love it! You can find these previous posts here and here. There are days when I want to give a small gift but don’t want to create a regular A2 size card. A mini card is so easy to whip up, there’s not an excuse not to give a card with your gift!
Next Saturday one of my dear friends is going to be married. I remember back in the day when she thought we were silly for being “boy crazy”. :) Okay, I admit I was a little crazy….it’s so funny now that’s she is one of the first of the group to get married. In the next few days I need to come up with a wedding card. Yikes! I am so horrible at making them! If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them! Goodness knows I need all the help I can get in this department!
Well, I’ll stop “talking” your ear off….for now! LOL As always, thanks for spending a little time with me! I hope I inspired you!

2 Sketches 4 You- Kazan’s Sketch #46

I know I already posted today, but I just *had* to play with this weeks 2S4Y sketch. Like I’ve mentioned before, I always love playing along when I get the chance. I wish I could do them every week, but my creativity and lack of time prevents me for always being able to.

For this card, I decided to play {again} with Funky Foliage. I’ve already made four cards using this set, and I just got it yesterday! I decided to go with the oval shaped trees and added some yummy moss colored rhinestones. You may have noticed the ribbon- it’s my new favorite way to tie bows! Hopefully in the next few days I’ll be able to show you step-by-step pictures on how to create this super easy bow. (Thanks for asking about this, Lisa!)

In closing, I want to mention that I got some SUPER FUN blog candy coming soon. Let’s just say you’ll want a die-cutting machine….. ;)

Thanks for stopping by, friends! Hope you were inspired!

Stamps: Background Basics: Retro, Funky Foliage (WPlus9)
Paper: White, Ripe Avocado, Dark Chocolate, Spring Moss

Funky Foliage

Happy Friday! It truly is a happy Friday for me. Today looks like it will be a gorgeous, sunny day. I have plans to get my nails re-done, go to the gym, clean the house and maybe even sneak in a few hours of crafting. What are your plans?

Today’s card features the new set from WPlus9- Funky Foliage. When I saw this set in the sneak peek, I knew I just had to have it. I love all the different shapes of the trees- wish trees were really these shapes (and colors)! LOL Lately I have been on this kick of using pink and red together. I think it’s such a sweet color combo. :)

I have some fun news to share with you today. This past week I submitted three cards to a new online magazine. Yes, I finally got over my fears and took the plunge. I’m excited to tell you that all three of the cards got picked up! When I have more deets on the magazine, I’ll pass them along to you! Next on the agenda: put together supply lists for the remaining cards that need to be submitted to CARDS. Since I use so many products, this can be super time consuming. :(

Well, I hope you all have a fabulous Friday! Thanks for spending a little time with me today!

EBTKS Sketch Challenge #9

Hi-ya friends!

We have made it to the mid-way mark of the week! I’ve been keeping super busy at work. That extra day off for President’s Day was glorious, but it definitely made for more work on Tuesday. However, I only have one more day until the weekend so I think I’ll make it out alive. :)

I’m so excited about the card I’m sharing with you today! This card was based of the EBTKS Sketch Challenge #9. First can I just say that ALL of those girls are just so sweet? I have grown particularly close to Courtney and Kelly Marie since returning from CHA. I seriously wish these girls lived in Washington- we would have so much fun together! I have had loads of fun getting to know them more through Twitter and through some emails. If you haven’t visited their blogs before, you must! You’ll leave feeling inspired and also with a smile. (They cards always have that affect on me!) Okay, moving back to the card……with Valentine’s Day behind us, I’m looking to the next holiday. Even though I love shamrocks and creating “green” cards, I just can’t bring myself to create a St. Patricks Day card. It might have to do with the fact that I have ZERO Irish in me. With St. Patty’s Day a bust, I decided that I would skip to Easter. Absolutely LOVE this holiday. Since I’m a Christian it has a special meaning to me, but I also really enjoy the colors and festivities that go along with it. :) I decided to do some bright, fun colors for this particular card. What are your thoughts?

I’ll be posting some more Easter cards in the near future. Absolutely love coloring all those fun Easter eggs! Oh, little fact, I have NEVER colored Easter eggs IRL! Hmm…might have to do that this year! If I do, I’ll be sure to post pics. ;)

Well, I hope you were inspired. Be sure to check out the EBTKS sketch this week!

Stamps: Teeny Swiss Dot, Scallop Oval, Easter Eggs, Easter stamp set
Paper: White, Brown Kraft, Magenta, Aqua Mist
Ink: Vintage Sepia
Other: 3″ Marvy scallop oval punch, Turquoise grosgrain ribbon, Quickie Glue Pen, Blue Ice glitter

Baby Teddy Bear

 Hello!

Today I have a cute ‘lil baby boy card. I have so many friends expecting, I thought I would stock up on my cards. I decided to use the teddy bear from Baby Button Bits, the balloons from Everyday Button Bits and the fabulous Baby Script from DeNami Design. I thought I would keep it fairly simple so the button balloons could be the focal point.

Oh, I have a funny story to share with you all! Today both of my brothers had writing assignments- they had to use descriptive words to describe things without revealing what the item/ place was. They wrote about a local coffee place and my mom, so I figured I would have them tell me what they would write about me. :) Here are some tidbits of that conversation:

“Goes to the gym”
“Likes to wear stretchy shirts and jeans” (I don’t know if I own any shirts that aren’t stretchy!)
“Stamps a lot”
“On a diet” (I literally laughed out loud when they said this)
“Does customer service”

Seriously, how do kids pick up on some things? My brothers aren’t super young, but they pick up on a lot of things that I wouldn’t think of. Hopefully that will carry on once they get married. :)

Do you have any funny things that a child has said to you? I’d love to hear it!

That’s all for tonight. Hope you were inspired!

Stamps: Small Solid Button, Baby Script, Everyday Button Bits, Baby Button Bits
Paper: White, Brown Kraft, Aqua Mist, Dark Chocolate
Ink: Vintage Sepia, Tea Dye Duo
Other: assorted buttons, SU! scallop border punch

Thank You Owls

I’m so sad I’m already at the end of my four day weekend. How does time fly by so quickly?! I remember the days when I was a kid and time went by so SLOWLY. When we had something to look forward to, it seemed like the days went by even slower. Where did that time go? I wish those days were still here.

Today I scanned in all my possible submissions to magazines- so far I have a total of 22. (I did have more but then decided I didn’t want my name associated with them! LOL) I still need to type up supply lists, which will take a little while. I’m trying to avoid publication calls that require instructions, if at all possible. I guess I expect others to be like me- look at a card and figure out how to create it. :) In all honesty, I don’t think I’m very good with words….hence the ramblings on my blog at times.

I should get my things together for work tomorrow. Hoping and praying that the day will go smoothly and I’ll be motivated for all the work to be done. I hope your Tuesday goes well!

Hope you got a “hoot” out of the today’s card. I love those little owls- they are just so darn cute!
