Christmas Tags Inspiration

25Days2015Good morning! Heather here this morning, excited to share with you a little trio of tags I put together for the 25 Days of Christmas Tags that Pretty Pink Posh is sponsoring! I used the adorable new Winter Woodland stamp set and Coordinating dies, paired up with the new Merry Christmas Scrip Die, the new Sparkling Clear Snowflake Sequins, Holiday Greetings stamp set and a few scallop tags from previous releases!

I started off by stamping some of the various adorable critters from Winter Woodlands. For the foxes, I used Scallop Diamond Tags Dies.

The add on sentiments were stamped with Holiday Greetings – and for the moose tag I used Scallop Square Tags Die.

And finally, I die cut just the word “merry” from Merry Christmas Script Die from black cardstock – for the bunny tag I used Scallop Circle Tags Die.

I colored in the critters using these Copic markers:

I cut all the tags from watercolor cardstock, then blended two colors of distress inks onto them.

I added some splatters of water that I mopped up with a clean dry paper towel, then I also added some white paint splatters for an even more snowy effect.

I used my sewing machine to attach the “merry” to the top, stamped my additional sentiments, then adhered my colored critters to the tags.

I added a few sparkly Sparkling Clear Snowflake Sequins, and then added more sparkle with some Nuvo drops in various places.

Punched a hole at the top of each tag and threaded through some jute twine, then used my fingers to curl up some of the edges of the animals – the antlers on the moose, the ears and tails on the foxes, and the ears on the bunny. Just a little thing to add a touch more dimension to these!

One Layer Animal Card

Hello, Shannon joining you today!

I have a clean and simple one layered card with some masking to share with you today featuring the adorable Woodland Critters stamp set.

I stamped my cute little critter on heavy weight white cardstock towards the center of my card base. The image I would want in front I stamp first, mask it off and then stamp my next image which would appear to look like it was behind the first image. For example I stamped the tree stump first, masked it and then stamped my hedgehog. I continued this for all my images. I create my masks by stamping the images on some scrap paper and adhered them on top with some temporary adhesive.

Once my images were stamped the way I liked I masked all my images so I could ink blend my background.

 

I love peeling off my masks and seeing the results! Its always a little surprise. I then colored in all the images in with Copic markers. I am by no means a pro color-er but I always find it relaxing.

I stamped my sentiment on top of my scene from the same set! If you want more sentiments in this pretty font, be sure to check out the Everyday Greetings set or the Thoughtful Greetings set. They are the perfect sentiments for a sweet card to make someone smile!

Clean and Simple Fall Cards

Good morning Pretty Pink Posh friends! Heather here this morning with a tutorial for a couple fall cards using Distress Oxide inks in two ways, and the gorgeous Stitched Foliage Dies!
 

Even though I used the same layout, I love that these have a totally different feel just by switching which elements are white and which are colored! And there is lots of fun dimension thanks to foam adhesive, and of course, some pretty sparkle from the fun Metallic Gold Confetti Mix!

For the first card, I used a white cardbase, masked off the sides of the card with easily removable Post It Tape, and blended two colors of Distress Oxide ink (Candied Apple and Fired Brick) on the panel. I added a few splatters of water, removed the masking tape, then stamped my sentiment from one of last years releases, Giving Thanks.

I adhered the leaves with foam adhesive, then added my sequins, and a bit of jute twine to finish off.
 

For the second card, I started off with a colored cardbase, then die cut a piece of white cardstock using the smaller rectangle from Scallop Frames Dies. I then blended the same two Distress Oxide inks on the leaves and added some splatters of water.

I adhered the outer edge of the frame with thin strips of foam adhesive, then stamped my sentiment and adhered the center of the frame inside and directly on the card base. Added the leaves with foam adhesive as well, and also a sprinkling of the Metallic Gold Confetti Mix on this one.

I’m so excited that Paulina has released more of the Confetti mixes! They are such a fun way to add sparkle to cards!

Watercolor Holiday Scene + Big Giveaway

Hello Pretty Pink Posh fans! This is Yana and today I am sharing a video tutorial showing how to create a watercolor winter scene card using a brand-new Winter Woodland stamp set.

I’m starting to work on my project by arranging images I wanted to use for this card on a piece of watercolor panel inside my Mini MISTI. You don’t have to use a stamp positioner for this project, you can easily stamp a scene like this using a clear block.

I picked watercolor paper for my stamping as I planed to use watercolors to color my critters and the background or the night sky behind them. You can chose to color these using any other mediums you like – perhaps colored pencils or alcohol markers. Whatever you chose make sure you are using the correct ink and paper type for your coloring medium.

I used Arches Hot Pressed watercolor paper as this is my go-to paper for stamping and watercoloring. The Hot Pressed means that this paper has very little to no texture which is a preferred quality when you plan to do a lot of stamping.

For my scene I picked a moose, he is standing on a free-hand painted hill; my moose has two love birds sitting on top of his antlers looking at each other. There’s also a sentiment that reads “Warm Hugs and Lots of Love” and finally the background behind my critters and the sky is filled with holly branches and they look as if they are coming from 3 sides framing this scene in a way.

Once I finished stamping my scene (I heat embossed it using Antique Gold embossing powder) I taped my watercolor panel onto a board and watercolored using Daniel Smith watercolors.

I broke my coloring process down into 2 main stages – coloring the critters and coloring the background. You want to make sure to wait for the coloring to dry when you move onto coloring the background to avoid having a huge mess and avoid colors bleeding one into another.

I did a bit of wet on wet coloring by wetting the surface of the paper first with water and then adding the pigment. I used just a handful of colors for my painting today and all of these can be found in my exclusive Daniel Smith Yana’s Watercolor Palette.

Keep in mind you can use any other watercolors to paint this, even Distress inks can be easily used to color a scene like this. In case you are curious to learn what colors I used here are the name: I went with Transparent Brown to color the moose and branches, Pyrrol Red to color the birds and berries, Undersea Green to color the leaves and Indigo to color the sky.

Once my coloring was done I trimmed my panel to 4 x 5 ¼” and foam mounted it onto an A2 card. I felt like the sentiment on this card wasn’t visible clearly enough so I heat embossed it in white embossing powder onto a piece of red cardstock and foam mounted onto the scene. I believe this helped the red color on the card pop and really tied everything together.

I embellished this card using a few metallic gold confetti pieces and coated red berries using Glossy Accents for a pop of dimension.

Thanksgiving Place Cards

I am addicted to stamps and dies!  First and foremost, I love card making and I love mixing and matching stamps and dies to create the perfect card for that special occasion.  I also really like to stretch my creativity and use my stamps and dies for projects other than card making.

When I first saw the Happy Turkey stamp set I knew I wanted to create place cards for Thanksgiving dinner.  These would also be a great keepsake as a message could be written to that special someone inside the fold.

When creating multiples of the same project I like to create “assembly” line style.  I also like to save more time consuming tasks like coloring for “single” projects.  I used pattern paper in this project to add that punch of color.

The base of the place card was created using the Stitched Notes frame.  I scored the frame at 2 3/8 inches and then folded in half.  For the fun design element in front to anchor the turkey and leaf images I die cut the largest Window Frames Dies.  I adhered the window frame with foam tape only in the middle, so images could be easily adhered between these two pieces.  This combination makes the perfect size place card. The width of the Stitched Notes frame and largest Window Frame are exactly the same width, which was a happy surprise!

One of my favorite things to do is paper piecing.  I wanted the turkey feathers to have the fun plaid print, but wanted the body of the turkey to be brown.  I colored the turkey body with copic markers, cut it to the edge and adhered it to the die cut turkey.  I then layered this piece to foam sheet die cut with the coordinating die.  It makes the perfect centerpiece.

I adhered the Stitched Notes Dies largest note die cut (this is where the persons name is written) behind the Window Frames die cut along with the colorful leaves.  I love how this mimics the shape of the turkey feathers!  Finally, I stamped the “Happy Turkey Day” sentiment behind the place card as an added design element.

I hope you enjoy this fun, easy project.  I think it will look perfect on any Thanksgiving dinner table. Thanks for stopping by!

Two Unique Thanksgiving Cards

Hello Everyone, I hope you guys have been enjoying the Thanksgiving Week inspirations.

In this post I want to share my take as well, I made two cards to inspire you even more. For this first card I used the cute stamp set Happy Turkey and is Happy Turkey Coordinating Dies.

To begin I first distressed my back panel then splatter it with diluted Doe ink from Lawn Fawn.

Then, I colored and die-cut the images from the Happy Turkey set.

I then stamped the sentiment first, then assembled the pieces around it. To finish off the card I added some Sparkling Clear Confetti Mix.

For my next card, I really highlight the use of these gorgeous Stitched Foliage Dies.

To begin after die-cutting the dies on a white cardstock, I then distressed each one.

Next, I stamped the sentiment from Giving Thanks stamp set on the center of the card.

I arranged the Foliage on the top. Next, I added some Peacock Feather Sequins to finish off the card.

Thanksgiving Card Using Alcohol Inks

Hi everyone, Eloise here and today I’m helping participate in the Thanksgiving Theme Week! Even though we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to help with this theme week and create a fun card for you all! I’ll be using the Happy Turkey stamp set that was released this year along with using Alcohol Inks and Copic Re-Inkers to create a very fall inspired background.

First off for my card today, I started on my background. Ive used Alcohol Inks before, but definitely don’t see myself as an expert with them. I see these beautiful background and pieces that people make with them and yet I can’t seem to get it right at all. But I want to get more confident with using them and understanding how they work more so today was all about experimenting for me. Firstly, I wanted to create an emboss resist background piece. Using the leaves from the Happy Turkey stamp set. I started off with a piece of Yupo paper, which is slick and stamped my leaves randomly with Versamark ink all on the background. Once I covered the piece I used clear embossing and heat set the background.

Next, I pulled out some colours of Alcohol Inks that I felt matched Fall well, so I went with a brown, green, orange, purple and also pink. I didn’t have a red Alcohol Ink, but I thought maybe the pink would mix in with the other colours and go darker. I dropped on my colours randomly onto the background, not worried about how the colours would mix. I then took some rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and sprayed my background repeatedly. I picked up some of the colour with a paper towel and dried it off with a heat tool. I didn’t feel like the colours were “fall” enough, so I brought out some Copic Re-Inkers I chose some red, yellow and started splattering them onto the background also, picking some colour up with paper towels and spraying with running alcohol in between till I reached the desired effect.

What I found interesting with this, it sort of stained the embossing. I expected it to resist like the embossing usually does but instead it stained it and actually, made it stand out more than the background did, which was kind of neat and I definitely didn’t expect it. Once I got my desired effect, I dried it off with my heat tool.

I used the Scallop Circle Tags dies and cut the largest die out of the middle of my coloured piece since I wanted to create a shaker. Next I made a card base, masked off the edges and ink blended some Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron into the center. I then laid over my coloured panel and stamped the ‘Happy Turkey Day’ sentiment in black ink onto the green ink blended piece. For my shaker I used a variety of sequins, seed beads and confetti in coordinating colours and added them all on top of my green ink blended piece. I then added acetate into the back of my panel and added one layer of foam tape all along the back. Making sure to make a solid circle with no gaps so the sequins and beads wouldn’t fall out as I shake it. I removed the backers and added the panel onto the card base.

Embellishments used: Gold Shimmer Seed Beads, Metallic Gold Confetti Mix, Iridescent Confetti Mix, 4mm Lemon Meringue, 4mm Tangerine, 4mm Marigold, 4mm Metallic Gold, 6mm Metallic Gold, 6mm Pumpkin, 6mm Sand

Copic markers used: (R24, R27, R89, E51, E53, E55, E57, E59, YR04, YR12, YR18, Y13, Y15, Y19)

Next I coloured up my turkey image with Copic markers and cut him out using the coordinating dies. I added foam tape behind him and stuck him onto my card. To finish up my card I used a twine bow and added it to the top of my shaker circle and then scattered some Metallic Gold Confetti Mix around my card.

Two Thanksgiving Shaker Cards

Today I’m sharing two shaker cards featuring our Happy Turkey Stamp Set and several other popular Pretty Pink Posh products.
Now, let’s get started with the big framed shaker card first.

To begin , I made a background panel using Stacked Edges 1 Die. I used scallop shape die to cut three different colored card stock papers which are natural, kraft, and brown. Then I stacked the pieces one by one, using double sided tapes behind the stacked die cuts. I then cut the panel into an A2 sized rectangle and then adhered it onto a card base.

I stamped images from Happy Turkey Stamp Set on a white card stock, colored them using copic markers, then cut them using Happy Turkey Coordinating Dies. To give more autumn mood to the card, I chose a pumpkin piece from Stitched Foliage Dies, and  ink blended it using distress inks : Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, and Rusty Hinge. For a lovely shaker frame, I cut a  rectangle frame using Scallop Frames Dies, Now it’s time to arrange them all together and check if they look okay and I really loved how it came out with these variable elements.

I stamped “Happy Turkey Day” sentiment on an Acetate film with versamark ink, and heat set it with gold embossing powder. My favorite thing to do in cardmaking is to put various sequins in the shaker! I used Metallic Gold Confetti Mix, Marshmallow Confetti Mix, Autumn Harvest Sequins Mix, Sparkling Clear Sequins Mix, Champagne Sequins, and Espresso Sequins.

Tip: I adhered a few sequins here and there, so that all the sequins are not falling down when you hold it up.

 

After I finished shaker, I adhered the turkey and leaves on the outer surface of the window.

Copic markers I used are as below :
Turkey face and body : E11, E13, E15, E18
Turkey wing, green : YG97, YG95, YG93, YG91
Turkey wing, yellow : Y38, Y35, Y32
Turkey wing, orange : YR7, YR4, YR2
Turkey wing, brown : YR27, YR24
Maple leaf : E9, E8, E97, YR23
Brown leaf : YR27, YR24
Green leaf : YG97, YG95, YG93, YG91, YR23
For the second card, I cut brown card stock paper using Scallop Hexagons Dies for a shaker frame. The background was ink blended with distress inks : Fossilized Amber and Squeezed Lemonade.

Stamping, die cutting, putting sequins are all similar with the first card. To make a twine ribbon, I punched a tiny hole in the mini maple leaf, passed a piece of string through it, then tied a bow.

Finally, I brushed Clear Wink of Stella on the the stamped images to give interests. You can see glitter effects on leaves here.
