Birdie Shaker Greetings

Hi crafty friends!

Julia here with a shaker card featuring the awesome heart shaped confetti in the colors gold, silver, and iridescent. The confetti pieces are very small, and they are flat, which makes them absolutely perfect for a shaker card without much bulk!

I started out by die cutting a scalloped edge on the long side of some pink card stock using one of the dies from the Stitched Borders 1 die set. I just love the little stitched detail in each scallop – it’s details like this that take a card design to the next level.

Next, I used the Scallop Circles die to die-cut a window into my pink panel. You get a circular shape (the outside edge of the die), but the die gives you another – second – piece which is circular with a scallop border on the inside.

I die cut that shape again from silver glitter paper and then adhered it on top of some acetate – the acetate was adhered to the back of my pink panel with some adhesive tape. I added some foam tape on the back of the panel around my window, making sure that I had a closed “border” which would hold my sequins securely. I poured the confetti on my card base and then adhered the front panel to it, trapping the sequins.

My cute birdie, which I colored with Copic Markers, is from the Birdie Notes mini stamp set. I fussy cut mine with scissors, but there’s a matching die set if you don’t want to fiddle. This cute little set would be perfect for decorating an envelope as well.

I added a few white dots into each scallop on the edges as decoration. I also traced the outline of the Scallop Circle Die with my gel pen for addition contrast. Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you got inspired!

Today I am here with a fun, new tutorial on how to make your own baby dress card for a baby shower!

To begin I first distressed the white card panel and die-cut the top part of the card panel with Pocket Border die (neck line of the dress).

Next, I die-cut the sides of the panel, slanted on both sides using the straight border die from Stitched Border dies 2.

Next, I cut the bottom of the panel and made another on a strip of cardstock using Stitched Borders 3 dies.

For the sleeves of the dress I used the square die-cut from Storybook 4 dies.

Here’s just to show you pieces of the dress. The bunny and bow die-cut images were from the Holiday Pals Stamp set and Coordinating dies. The sentiment (sweet girl) was from the Lawn Fawn Hello Baby stamp set.

I also distressed the white card base and adhered the dress with foam tape for dimension.

For the final touches for the dress I added some Sparkling Clear sequins in 6mm for the neck line and 4mm all around the dress.

Tutorial: Birdie Wobble Card

Hi Jeanne here today with a fun project to share! This “Just a Little Note” card is bright and sunny and sure to brighten your day!

I started by debossing the Stitched Banner Duo 2 die on a panel of white card stock. Debossing is easy – instead of cutting the die with your cutting place, you simply put a rubber embossing matt and special plate through your machine so it presses the design into the paper instead of cutting it out. Be sure to follow the directions provided by your machine manufacturer.

I wanted to add more definition to the debossed image so I cut the Stitched Banner Duo 2 a second time from a piece of scrap paper. Holding the die cut banner over the debossed one I distressed along the edges of the die cut to create a soft yellow glow.

Then I got to work on my layout. I knew I wanted to place the little chickie from Birdie Notes inside the banner. I stamped a sentiment just under where she would be, and some musical notes that would be around her head.

I stamped and die cut the birdie (the coordinating die cuts make this a breeze) and attached a wobbler to the back. I had to trim the wobbler to size to fit the back of the die cut shape. This doesn’t affect the spring action unless you cut the coiled plastic.

What a surprise when you touch the little chickie!! This is so fun to see the little chickie “wiggle it”!

You know I can’t resist my bling – I attached a few Sunshine Glow sequins to make me happy!

Throwback Thursday: Stitched Duo 3

Hello! Welcome back to the Throwback Thursday post with Amy here on the Pretty Pink Posh blog. This is a time where I highlight an older but wonderful die in the Pretty Pink Posh collection.

I chose to work with the Stitched Duo 3 and use just that inside die as the base for my “window” pane. I’ve die cut my window out of a trimmed white panel and added clear cardstock behind to begin my rain shaker card. To create my shaker, I’ve added some flat Aquamarine sequins, 4mm Marshmallow sequins, and Sparkling Clear Sead Beads. To finish my shaker, I added a piece of grey cardstock behind as the dark sky. This also helps to be able to “move” your shaker where ever on your card.

I die cut several clouds from Rainy Days and stamped the frown face onto them. To brighten up the card, I added a red stamped umbrella which was die cut using the matching dies. The smallest Scallop Squares Dies fit over my window panes perfectly to give it some character. My sentiment was stamped below the window sill and a red bakers twine bow was added. This card would certainly cheer up a friend!

Geometric Die Cut Patterns + Video

Hello, Pretty Pink Posh fans! This is Yana and I have a video tutorial to share today featuring one of my favorite dies from Pretty Pink Posh – Stitched Duo 2.

I really love using dies to create unique die cut backgrounds and today I’m expanding the pattern of the Stitched Duo 2 die to create a diagonal stip on my card front.

The trick to create a background like I have on my card is rather simple. All you need to do for perfect spacing is to die cut the first set of circles and than snap top row of circles of your die with the bottom row of the die cut circles (negatives) on your panel. From there you can expand the pattern however many times you like, you can expand it going just up or down or in all 4 ways to have an entire die cut background for a card.

To decorate my card I decided to use images from 2 sets – Holiday Pals (I used a little branch) and Birdie Friends (used a nest and a chick). I stamped several branches using a couple colors of yellow and green and also stamped 3 chicks and colored all using Copic Markers. All of them were die cut using matching dies.

I couldn’t resist using a few sequins to dress up my card and I went with 6 mm Strawberry Burst, 6 mm Sunshine Glow and of course several small clear droplets. All of those were adhered using Multi Medium adhesive in Matte.

Die cut backgrounds like these can also be die cut out of colored cardstock and mounted onto white card base. Here’s a close up of another card where the panel was die cut out of gray and foam mounted onto white:

Pearlized Watercolors + Giveaway

Hello friends! It’s Nina-Marie here with you today and I have a video tutorial to share with you showing how to create pearlized watercolor effects using Zig Clean Color markers and the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors watercolor palette. I’ll also be using a few Pretty Pink Posh products as well and I think you’re going to really enjoy today’s post… so let’s get started!

For those of you unfamiliar with this product, the Starry Colors watercolors are a pearl-tinted palette that has a collection of six different gold, water-based pigments. I wanted to use these with my Zig Clean Color markers to create a pearlized effect and the result is stunning! Pictures don’t really do the intense shimmer justice; in real life the shimmer is incredible!

The stamped images I used for this card are from Mama Elephant’s Freestyle Florals stamp set. The style of these images lend perfectly to the artistic style of watercoloring I did. I also used Pretty Pink Posh’s Storybook 2 die, Clear Droplets and Birdie Friends stamp set.

Tutorial: Mini Star Shakers

Good morning Pretty Pink Posh friends! Heather here to share a couple of fun cards – something fun that I recently tried on a whim – sort of an optical illusion that makes it look like the shaker cards are overflowing with gold and silver Mini Star Confetti!

I started off by choosing a couple different pattern papers – I love to choose papers from a single paper pad, since they usually coordinate very well together! I die cut them using the two large layers of Decorative Tag 1 Dies – cutting the scallop portion also out of white cardstock, then piecing them together by alternating the center and outer portions – this way I can use both the negative and positive cuts! I saved the pattern scallops to use another time.

I used some simple Scotch single sided tape to tape the white scallop to the outer frame from the back, then some sturdy Score Tape to attach the acetate for the shaker window.

Before attaching the acetate, I used the outer portion to position and center the inner part by applying adhesive tape, setting the outer frame where I wanted it placed, then fitting the center oval in place…

…then lifting the outer frame to be able to add the acetate and foam for the shaker.

I added a cute sentiment to each one using Birdie Friends Stamp Set – I actually mixed these up, and was going to stamp the sentiments in reverse! Didn’t notice until it was too late! :)

Next, add some foam adhesive to build the shaker. I cut strips to make the proper length – since the roll is too wide to fit, then peel off the paper backing so that it easily bends around the shape of the tag.

Finally, add the shaker elements for the inside on top of the back panel, then adhere the front panel over the top!

Now for the overflowing part – add some random little dots of Glossy Accents on each side of the frame…

…and sprinkle on some of the confetti – shaking off the excess. Once dry, the Glossy Accents does a very good job of holding it on firmly – even if you might lose an occasional one here and there.

I love the effect this gives – shakers are such happy cards anyway – and this feels like it just couldn’t hold in all the happy!

Tutorial: Rainbow Banner Card

Hello everyone, Joni here.

Today I wanted to share with you a simple tutorial in the honor of the Rainbow theme week that we had on the Pretty Pink Posh blog last week! Using a rainbow theme is one of a simple ways we can send a cheerful message to our friends and loved ones.

To begin my card, I first use a cloud template (any cloud dies you have will do) I simply die-cut a cloud on a piece of white cardstock. I distressed the white card base using Distress Ink from Ranger.

Next, I distressed different pieces of white cardstock using Distress inks and die-cut each one using the Mini Tags die set.

For the bottom of my card base, I also distressed and splatter it with water using my watercolor brush for interest.

Next, assembly time! You can use almost any kind of die-cut letters you have, or you can substitute them for stickers or alphabet dies. The cute birdie is from an all-time favorite, the Birdie Notes mini stamp set.

To finish the card, I added some Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Rose Gold sequins with the Multi Medium Matte adhesive.

Rainbow Challenge

It’s been about four months since the last challenge I posted where YOU could share your Pretty Pink Posh creations. This is the perfect opportunity for me (and others) to see your stunning work. Many of my designers started as customers and once I saw their work, I invited them to join the team. Now is the time for YOU to share your creativity and beautiful works of art!

I pulled four different cards that some of my designers have created with a rainbow theme to serve as inspiration for this challenge. You could be inspired by the colors they used, stamps, layouts… it’s really up to you and your interpretation!

Rainbow Theme Week- Day 5

Hello friends, it’s Nina-Marie here with you today to share some Rainbow Theme Week inspiration on using your Distress Inks and Copics together to create a fun birthday card!

I really love the playful appearance of the Stitched Speech Bubble die set; the added stitching detail around the edges of the finishes the dies off perfectly.

For the coloring on the speech bubble dies I used Distress Inks in the following colors: Festive Berries, Ripe Persimmon, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet. On all the speech bubbles I also used my Distress Sprayer to add fun water droplets, which add a lot of interest!

The stamps I used for this card is the Cool Cat set from My Favorite Things; aren’t they adorable? They paired so well with these speech bubble dies, it was like a match made in heaven!

All of the critters are colored with Copics… I used the following colors for the cats: C00, C1, C3, C5, C7, R20, R21. I ended up fussy cutting these cats out with scissors, but you could get the coordinating dies instead.

And of course, no card would be complete without some fabulous sequins from Pretty Pink Posh! I used my absolute favorite Sparkling Clear sequins and scattered them about on the card… they add just the right amount of sparkle and shine and I LOVE the result!
