Exciting News

Hey there!

Well, I can *finally* reveal the exciting news I have to share! I know that lots of my cardmaking friends are on design teams, so this might not be too terribly exciting to those who are. As lots of you know, I’m on the DeNami design team, which I absolutely love. There’s something about creating cards with fellow cardmakers and seeing product before everyone else. ;) Anyhow, about a month ago the sweet Courtney Baker contacted me and asked if I would be interested in joining her for the month of March. Let me tell ya, I was super giddy about this opportunity. I know Courtney only chooses the best people to showcase her new sets, so this was truly an honor. Tomorrow is the big day where I can reveal what I’ve been working on featuring Look Up! The first card I’m super stoked about- it turned out exactly like I want it to. For a peek at some cards featuring the new set, be sure to visit Courtney’s blog. She has posted a few cards and also some fab videos.

Okay, now that I have spilled the beans, I can move onto the card for today…..I tend to use a lot of pinks and browns for my cards so I thought I would chose a different color palette for this card. I chose Summer Sunrise, Ripe Avocado, Lemon Tart and topped the card off with some Chocolate Brown grosgrain ribbon. Such a yummy, rich card.

That’s all for today. Be sure to come back tomorrow at 6AM central for my first card featuring Look Up! Hint: the card is full of bright colors and lots of paper piercing. ;)

Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my excitement!

Pink Trees

Hi there!

Tonight I have to keep it short and sweet because I’m super tired and have a horrid headache. I woke up with one and have had it off and on (mostly on) all day now. I used to suffer from them a lot but thankfully they subsided for a few months. I’m hoping today was a fluke and that tomorrow I’ll be back to normal Well, as normal as I get….. *wink*

I hope you all aren’t sick of seeing some yummy Funky Foliage trees! I seriously can’t get enough of this adorable set! I love the different shape tree tops and the fact that I can create pretty colored trees! This time around I decided to go with some yummy Sweet Blush trees. :)

Before I close, I want you all to know that I did not forget about the video! Right now I’m dealing with a ton of deadlines so the video has been put on hold. As soon as life slows down a tad, I’ll give recording a whirl! Thanks again for the interest and your encouraging words!

I hope you all had a great day. As I mentioned above, I’m working on a few deadlines- one of them I can reveal this week! I’m super excited about this news, you won’t want to miss it!

Paper: White, Dark Chocolate, Bitty Dots Basics

Spring is in the Air

Hey there!

Today I have a bright and cheery card to share with you. Over on Nichole’s blog, she challenged her DT to create some Spring cards. As usual, there was some stunning creations! To add to the fun, she posted the colors that each member used and challenged us to create a card using one of the color schemes. I LOVED the colors that Betsy Veldman used so I chose those as my colors.

For this card I pulled out my beloved Wishing You set along with Signature Greetings and Background Basics:Tin Types. LOVE how it turned out. Such a vibrant card that would cheer up anyone! I decided not to add any ribbon {gasp!} and opted to use some pink rhinestones instead. Have I mentioned how much I love rhinestones? I have at least eight colors and use them all regularly!

In closing, I want to mention that Dawn over at Stamp Away With Me did a sweet feature on me using her Funky Foliage set. I love her line and couldn’t believe my eyes when I read all the things she said about me! Just goes to prove that you never know who reads your blog and looks at your creations. :) For those newbies out there, keep posting to your blog! Who knows, you might get featured!

Thanks for stopping by, friends! I hope you were inspired! I’ll be back tomorrow with a card for a special challenge- you won’t want to miss it!

Stamps: Wishing You, Signature Greetings, Background Basics: Tin Types
Paper: White, New Leaf, Summer Sunrise, Sweet Blush
Ink: Vintage Sepia, Fresh Green, Cherry Pink, Summer Sunrise

Poppy Seed Challenge #1

Saturday greetings to you all!

Last night I went to bed super late- thankfully I got quite a bit more done on one of my projects. Since I’m stressing about trying to finish all my commitments, I woke up really early and got some more things crossed off the list. Sometimes to-do lists can be really daunting…..

You may all laugh, but I needed to do something NOT on my list, so I created a card for Lisa’s Poppy Seed Challenge. Isn’t it a cute name? For each challenge there will be different “seeds” which must be incorporated into each card. For this first challenge, we were to use crystals, a flower stamp and light yellow. I had no trouble using crystals or a flower stamp, just had a bit of difficulty with the light yellow. I originally tried using light yellow ribbon but that didn’t look so great. I finally decided on light yellow ink for the flowers and a yellow butterfly. Since I don’t have a butterfly stamp to fit this die, I decided to add some outline dots and of course, more rhinestones!

Well, it’s time to take a nap before I head off to a wedding. Hope you were inspired!

You Make Me Smile

Hi there!

I hope your day went well. My Friday was stressful, to say the least. I have so many deadlines and I’m not even close to finishing them. I wrote a “to do” list and only got to 1/3 of the things, which was extremely frustrating. (Especially since the things finished were chores!) I have a million DT commitments that need to be finished, plus some other work that has been looming over my head for the past two weeks. On top of all that, I’m trying to finish submitting all the cards for the publication calls that I created for. Let’s just say this weekend will be far from boring. Oh yes, and let’s not forget that one of my besties is getting married tomorrow! I wish I could multiply my time or just not be such a perfectionist! (You know I’m all joking about the perfectionist part- I don’t think that will ever change!)

Since I haven’t had time to scan in any of my latest creations, I’m posting a card that I made last week. When I first finished this card, I literally squealed. With the lights hitting the rhinestones, this card is DAZZLING. ;) You may have noticed that one of the trees only has two rhinestones…I have no idea what happened to the third one! I put three on when I made the card and then I see that it somehow got lost! Most likely it fell off and got stuck on the bottom of my sock! LOL

Well, it’s time to get back to work. Thanks for letting me write away my stresses….you all are such good listeners. *wink wink*

Paper: White, Aqua Mist, Dark Chocolate
Ink: Vintage Sepia, Fresh Snow

Papertrey February Blog Hop

My card was inspired from these cards by Michelle Wooderson.

Wow, is it already the 25th again?! You know what the means…it’s the time for the Papertrey Blog Hop! This month we were called to find a card/project from a PTI DT member and use their project as inspiration. I found Michelle’s cards to be so inspiring. Love how fresh they feel!

For my take on the card I used the Funky Foliage stamp set for WPlus9. Such a fun set and these particular trees kinda look like shamrocks. ;) If you follow my blog you know that I love to add scraps/ strips of paper to my cards. As soon as I saw Michelle’s color combo and the fact there were strips of paper AND buttons, I knew I had to use her cards as my inspiration.

You may notice at the bottom of the card that I did some paper piercing. I love how a little tool can add so much to a card! Funny story: my sister was looking at this card IRL and asked how I added those “dots” (paper piercing). I told her that I did it by hand. She thought I was lying! She asked, “No, really. How did you do it?” I told her that I really did it by hand and it took forever. Her response? “Wow, that’s a waste of time”. Yeah….she just doesn’t get it. ;)

Thanks for stopping by, friends! I hope you were inspired!

2 Sketches 4 You- Laura’s Sketch #46

I’m so excited that I was able to play along with another 2S4Y sketch! This week, the fabulous Laura designed the sketch. I have been able to get to know Laura a little more these past few months- she’s such a dear! We have some similar passions (exercising, cardmaking and food). I’m hoping that someday I’ll be able to actually meet her- wouldn’t that be so neat?!

I love this Mimi in the Rain stamp. My favorite part of the stamp? The polka dot rainboots! I don’t own any rainboots, but if I did they would look similar to these! If you click on the photo, you can see that I added some magenta glitter to both the boots and the umbrella. Oh how I love glitter. :)

I just received my blog candy and let me tell ya, you all will love it! I’ll give you a clue: it has to do with Sizzix and they are BRAND NEW! Make sure you become a follower so you can be one of the first to know when the candy is posted!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’ll get a chance to play with this super fun sketch from 2S4Y!

Showers of Blessings

Brrrrr….it’s freezing in Washington this morning! When I went out to my car, the sun was shining but it was a frigid 30*. It took a good 10 minutes before the windows finally defrosted. The past few days it has been 60*, so I’m hoping that the coldness will wear off as the day goes progresses.

Okay, let’s move on to today’s card. I’m using one of my favorite color combos- Brown Kraft, White, Raspberry Fizz and Aqua Mist. This combo screams fresh, fun and just plain yummy! I used the sentiment and umbrella from Scattered Showers and then used the decorative flourish design from Vintage Labels on the Raspberry Fizz cardstock. Super easy card to whip up!

Right now I’m currently debating on whether I want to create a video or photos for the bow tutorial. I think my voice sounds horrible on recordings, but it would be easier for you all to see exactly how I create a bow. However, I have NEVER created a tutorial and have no idea on how to edit a video. Hmmm….any thoughts, suggestions or tips?

Lots of exciting things happening on my blog in the next week. I’ll have some blog candy, my Papertrey blog hop post and on March 1st, I’ll have a couple exciting posts to share! Be sure to keep on checking back!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you were inspired!

Dove Mini Cards

Hey there!
I hope you all had a great Saturday! Today was a busy, but fun day. I had a session with my personal trainer (even though I work out often, I’m still out of shape!). I recently switched my workout schedule from 5 days to 6 days a week. I’m thinking my body isn’t used to the change since lately I have been feeling super weak. I may have to switch back….more time for crafting! :) I also went to the outlet mall and got a brand new purse and wallet. Since I got my tax refund, I told myself I could splurge and buy something fun. Last year I also bought a new purse with my refund- this might be a new tradition!

Today I’m showcasing some easy-to-make mini cards. You may remember me using this DeNami Design curly dove before- I love it! You can find these previous posts here and here. There are days when I want to give a small gift but don’t want to create a regular A2 size card. A mini card is so easy to whip up, there’s not an excuse not to give a card with your gift!
Next Saturday one of my dear friends is going to be married. I remember back in the day when she thought we were silly for being “boy crazy”. :) Okay, I admit I was a little crazy….it’s so funny now that’s she is one of the first of the group to get married. In the next few days I need to come up with a wedding card. Yikes! I am so horrible at making them! If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them! Goodness knows I need all the help I can get in this department!
Well, I’ll stop “talking” your ear off….for now! LOL As always, thanks for spending a little time with me! I hope I inspired you!

2 Sketches 4 You- Kazan’s Sketch #46

I know I already posted today, but I just *had* to play with this weeks 2S4Y sketch. Like I’ve mentioned before, I always love playing along when I get the chance. I wish I could do them every week, but my creativity and lack of time prevents me for always being able to.

For this card, I decided to play {again} with Funky Foliage. I’ve already made four cards using this set, and I just got it yesterday! I decided to go with the oval shaped trees and added some yummy moss colored rhinestones. You may have noticed the ribbon- it’s my new favorite way to tie bows! Hopefully in the next few days I’ll be able to show you step-by-step pictures on how to create this super easy bow. (Thanks for asking about this, Lisa!)

In closing, I want to mention that I got some SUPER FUN blog candy coming soon. Let’s just say you’ll want a die-cutting machine….. ;)

Thanks for stopping by, friends! Hope you were inspired!
