Embellish the Cure

Happy Monday, dear friends! Hope you all got your week off to a good start.

Don’t have too much to say today…so let’s move right onto the card. I absolutely LOVE this weeks Embellish Magazine challenge. The challenge was to use fuchsia, light pink, grey and rhinestones. Seriously, could there be a better challenge for me?! When I saw the challenge, I seriously wanted to start on a card right away. However, it was past 10pm and I knew I should be responsible and get some sleep. (No one likes talking to rude people on the phone!) After work I went to the gym (I’m SO determined to lose these 18 pounds!). However, while I was there, the only thing I could think about was this challenge! I ended up cutting my workout short so I could work on a card! Yes, I know, I’m a little strange….I blame Ashley for coming up with such an amazing challenge! :)

I’m pretty crazy about this card. Wish you could see the card in person…the rhinestones really make the card pop! I already have ideas on another card using these colors- I’m sure you’ll see another card {or two} featuring this weeks challenge.

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Stamps: Small Solid Circle, Guide Lines Two,
Paper: White, Sweet Blush, Raspberry Fizz, Smokey Shadow
Ink: Raspberry Fizz, Smoky Grey

Flu Season

Now before you start to worry, no, I don’t have the flu. *knock on wood* I know lots of people who do though. I love the changing of the leaves, wearing scarves, boots and gloves and also drinking hot apple cider….However, I HATE that everyone comes down with the flu during this season. With the whole scary H1N1 epedemic, I’m terrified that I’m going to catch it. Yes, I can sometimes be extremely paranoid. But seriously, can you blame me? If anyone were to get sick, that person would be me. I was born with the worst immune system EVER. I wash my hands constantly, eat {fairly} healthy and have good hygiene- too bad that isn’t enough.

This weekend went by entirely too fast. The only thing I really got accomplished was a few hours of nap time. Oh yes, I did make a couple cards and I also went to a concert, but that was about it. Did you do anything fun?

Before I forget to tell you, I FINALLY opened my Big Shot machine! Since it had been a while since I learned how to use it, I watched a couple YouTube videos to get me familiar with it again. Seriously, what did we do before YouTube? They have so many useful videos on there (and yes, also some funny non-useful ones). All I had to do was type in “Big Shot Spellbinders” and a whole slew of videos came out. YouTube saved my machine AND myself a lot of heartache. ;)
Since we’re talking about dies, do you have any favorite Spellbinder dies? Any that are on your wish list? I have my eye on few….we’ll see if I can resist for a little while longer.

Okay, I need to wrap this up. I have a few cards waiting to be scanned for the blog- hopefully I can get around to that soon!

‘Night, girlies!

Sweet Cupcakes

Judging from the title, I’m sure you thought I strayed from my diet! Well, I sort of did….but not on cupcakes. I was running errands with my sister and I got struck with a horrible stomach pain. Reason: I got way too hungry. After bypassing the normal fast food joints, I decided that I really wanted Taco Time. I ended up getting a whole wheat beef soft taco. It’s not horrible for you, and it totally satisfied my hunger pains. I need to keep some granola bars or something in my car…can’t be making this a habit!

While running errands, we stopped at the grocery store and stocked up on some foods. I got yogurt {big surprise}, cheese, bananas and I got some yummy looking granola. As soon as I got home, one of my sisters opened it right away and tried out a bowl. She said it was delicious…can’t wait to give it a try!

These past few days it has been pouring down rain. I’m so scared for the place I work. There has been HUGE talk of a flood in the Kent valley, so I’m nervous about all this rain. I have never witnessed major flooding, so this is a little nerve wrenching.

Yet again I have loads of laundry to put away. I should probably get going.

Hope you all have a fun weekend! I’m getting low on cards to post….guess that means I need to start creating some more!

Happy Holidays Swirl card

Hello sweet blog friends!

Just got back from an intense session at the gym. I don’t think I have sweated that much ever. This morning I woke up with really sore calves. I felt like I was “waddling” everywhere…hopefully I didn’t look like too much of a dork. ;)

At work we are working on our Spring/ Summer 2010 collection. I think it’s going to take me months to get used to seeing the digits 2010. Is it weird to anyone else? Anyhow, moving back to the subject at hand….I am so excited about this new collection. When it gets closer to the time of release, I’ll be sure to have some fun samples and maybe even some sneak peeks!

Lately I have been trying to have some healthy snacks. I picked up these delicious Pomegranate Cranberry fruit & oat bars at Target the other day. Oh yes, and they are drizzled in yogurt! It’s not the healthiest snack in the world, but it’s better than a candy bar, cookies, cake, donuts, etc…. :) I was thinking about picking up some non-peanut trail mix (I’m allergic to anything peanut related), but none of them looked all that good. I’ve never really liked trail mix, except for the M&M’s! Maybe I should make my own….

Okay, well that’s a wrap for tonight. Have a fab night, and I’ll talk with you all soon!

Stamps: Small Solid Circle, Vintage Labels, Signature Christmas, Fancy Flourishes
Paper: Brown Kraft, Red, Dark Chocolate, New Leaf

2 Sketches 4 You- Kazan’s Sketch #37

Hello blog friends!

I’m so happy that I was able to participate in this weeks 2S4Y sketch! It’s been a little while since I’ve joined in the fun. I really wanted to play last week, but I just didn’t have enough time. I was able to look at some of the entries- wow, you ladies are definitely improving each week!

Moving onto the card….I had this card designed in my head, but it took a little while to get all the kinks out onto paper. After two hours (!) and two episodes of Numbers, I finally finished this Christmas card. This is definitely a “girly” Christmas card. :)

Oh, one more thing, did you notice that I have had a supply list on my last two posts? Any thoughts? Should I continue doing this?

Well, that’s all for tonight. Thanks for stopping by! As always, I love reading comments from you all…it’s the highlight of my mornings!

Stamps: Christmas Holly Vine, Merry Christmas Block, Leafy Vine Wreath, Sm. Poinsettia Blossom
Paper: Cream, Brown Kraft, Magenta, Spring Moss

Holiday Birdie Note Cards

Hey girlies! (and guys…don’t know if any read my blog)

We made it through the first day of the week! Did you survive alright? Any of you have the “Monday Blues”? Surprisingly, I haven’t had them in a while. *knock on wood*

Here are some sweet holiday note cards that I made a few weeks ago. Let me tell ya, I love making A1 size cards- they are so much fun!I can imagine sending these around the holidays when you want to send a quick note of thanks or even just some holidays wishes. I originally made these for a craft fair, but all of them seem to be filling up! Since Christmas is sneaking up on us, it might be for the best that I don’t do one this year. :( Next year I’ll have to plan a little better….

Well, it’s off to the gym I go. I’ve lost 2 lbs so far, only 18 more to go! :)

Classic Holiday Greetings

Sunday greetings, dear friends! I hope you all had a fab weekend!

I’m just about to head to bed, but I wanted to share a card that I made yesterday. As you can probably tell, I’ve been on a holiday kick. In between Thanksgiving and Christmas, you’ll be seeing lots of different color schemes and styles. :)

These past few weeks I have been obsessed with stamping my own polka dot backgrounds. I love playing with all the different tone-on-tone inks, and also trying to make the polka dots look aligned. Have I been succeeding?

Hope you enjoyed this simple, sweet and short post! My comfy bed is calling my name. It’s gonna be another crazy week at work….I’ll post when I can!

Circle Card Color Challenge

I need to get a Cricut cartridge that makes circle cards….it’s too hard doing it any other way. I followed the instructions from the Embellish Magazine website to make a circle card using two circle die cuts. Their sample looked phenomenal, but I don’t think mine looks all that great. Even though I’m not completely thrilled with my finished product, I figured I should show you since it did take me a little while. :)

I love how fun and funky circle cards are- you never see them at the stores! It was nice to play with a different card shape for a change. Have you participated in this challenge yet? You still have time to get in on this fun!

I’m on baby-sitting duty, so I need to make sure the kiddos are in bed. (Don’t worry, I type fast, so I haven’t been “away” for too long. :)

‘Night blog friends!

A Note of Thanks

Wow, today is such a gorgeous fall day. It’s a little chilly outside, but the air is crisp which puts a hop into every one’s step. Today was the first day I wore a scarf- oh how I love them! I have so many different colors, lengths, styles….is it weird that I plan my outfits around my scarves?

I made this card several weeks ago….when I first started getting into the “fall mood”. I love these colors together! My silly scanner doesn’t allow for rounded corners to turn out very well…in real life, the corners are PERFECTLY round! :) I was thinking of making place cards for Thanksgiving with these colors- wouldn’t that look scrumptious? If I do end up making them, I’ll be sure to post the finished product(s).

Today I MUST clean my bedroom. Since I have been on the go a lot, I haven’t had any time to straighten my room. My poor bed and four (yes, four) loads of clean laundry need to be attended to.

I should get going. So much to do, so little time. I would love to play with my new Spellbinder dies today….hopefully I’ll get to soon!

Stamps: Mini Polka Dot, Medium Double Circle, Autumn stamp set, Damask Designs, Background Basics:Retro, Mega Mixed Messages
Paper: White, Brown Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Spring Moss, Bitty Dots Basics, Bitty Box Basics

Other: Brown satin ribbon, 2″ scallop circle punch, Red button, twine, corner rounder

Whismsical Thanksgiving card

Hello blog friends! I hope your week is going well…we have made it to the middle! :) Anything new, interesting or exciting going on in your life?

On Monday I had my first paid personal training session. Oh goodness, I am STILL sore! Tonight I have another one…I think we’re going to work on legs today….yikes! I am loving that I can start to see results already. If you follow my Tweets, you know that I’ve been trying to eat healthy snacks- not always an easy task. Lately I’ve been eating a ton of oatmeal, salads, apples and yogurt. Not exactly filling, but it does the trick. Any healthy, filling snacks you can recommend?

I’m super excited to show you this Thanksgiving card. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. I’m not gonna lie, I was super surprised that I made this card…lately I have been surprising myself! Aren’t these colors and patterns delicious? I haven’t ever handed out Thanksgiving cards, but that might change this year.

Well, I need to get going. Until next time, enjoy this gorgeous fall weather…don’t forget the scarves and gloves! :)
