Easy Bokeh Background for Fall Cards

Hi friends, Carly here. Are you looking for a new technique to try on cards this fall? Well I have a fun one to try, an easy bokeh effect with diy stencils! Bokeh is that dreamy, out of focus light in photography and it is easy to mimic with inks for a fabulous card background!

I started by creating diy stencils by die cutting pieces of acetate with the Stitched Leaves and a few circles too. I like to use the acetate for stencils because then you can see exactly where you are inking.

I used masking tape to create a rectangle on pale peachy cardstock and inked blended it a slightly darker color. Then I ink blended through the diy leaves stencils with Distress Oxide Dried Marigold, Abandoned Coral and Saltwater Taffy.

After I was happy with the number of leaves, I added circles with white ink and a light hand. I wanted the circles to create a soft blur, not cover the leaves.

When I was happy with the background, I removed the tape and added die cut Stitched Leaves on top and a sentiment from the Happy Fall set.
