Cocoa-licious Christmas card

Hi crafty people! It’s Rachel here today with a cocoa-licious Christmas card. I could not choose between the two cute new mugs from the Christmas Mugs die set so I decided to use both.

When thinking of a design for a card. I love to use the dies and lay them out on my card base. This way I have a feeling of what elements I have space for. And what elements look good together. To fill up my card, I grabbed the Christmas Holder Additions die.

When I was happy with my layout, I grabbed my colored cardstock, inks, and white glitter paper and started die-cutting all my elements. I used the white glitter cardstock for all the white parts on my Santa mug and for the marshmallows. Adding glitter, especially on Christmas/winter cards, I love.

When I had all the elements die-cut. I sorted them by color and grabbed darker ink colors than the color of my paper. With a smaller blending brush, I added shading to all my die cuts (apart from the glitter paper).

Before putting all the die cuts together, I wanted to make my background first. So it can have some drying time while I assemble the die cuts. I cut a piece of craft cardstock in 5 ½ x 4 ½. . A little bigger than the standard-size card. Because I needed more space for this adorable mug.

I grabbed the new Layered Sweet Candies stencil and used pink for my first stencil and a bright red for my second one. Then I grabbed some white acrylic paints, added a bit of water, and started splattering them onto my card with a small paintbrush.

Then it was time for the most satisfying part (in my opinion), gluing all the die cuts together. I love the feeling when you have so many loose elements and see them come together on your card.

I added foam tape behind my Rudolf mug and some of the accessories to create some height differences. Added my beloved white highlights, and “ho ho ho” the card is done.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post. I hope you like this cocoa-licious Christmas card and get inspired to make something with the “holiday mug DIY” yourself.
