Dragonfly Friends

Hello! Christina here to share a tranquil pond scene I created using the new Stitched Bugs dies from the latest collection. I used the Watercolor Rectangle for the pond background, reimagined some dies to create water lilies, and finished the scene with a pair of dragonfly besties. Take a peek at my supplies, and then we’ll get started!

I started by creating the pond scene for the background by stenciling the Watercolor Rectangle onto a white cardstock panel. I used Broken China and Uncharted Mariner Distress inks for stenciling and then spattered the stenciled panel with water for a little texture and interest.

Next, I die-cut and assembled all the elements for the rest of my scene. I started with white cardstock for everything and inked the pieces with blending brushes to color them. I chose a tropical teal green for the dragonflies, pale pinks for the lilies, and emerald green for the lily pads. I then added a layer of vellum wings to the dragonflies and outlined the stitching detail with Diamond Stickles for some sparkle.

I arranged the die-cuts on my background panel and attached them with either glue or thin foam squares. To finish things up, I added stamped and die-cut sentiments and a splattering of clear droplets for embellishment. Lastly, I attached the card front to a top-fold card base, and it was ready to send off to my bestie!

Thank you so much for reading about my tranquil pond scene that I created using the adorable Stitched Bugs dies. Happy crafting!

  1. I like how you made this look like a pond with the rectangle stencil and the water splatters. Those splatters really do make it look like a pond! These little bugs look cute with their vellum wings and sparkle. Pretty card!
