Day 3: Valentine Theme Week + Daily Giveaways

Hi friends, it’s Christina! Today I’m sharing a card featuring the Build a Heart die set. This set is perfect if you like to customize your projects because it includes a ton of decorative embellishments so you can create the perfect heart for your Valentine! Plus, it pairs beautifully with many of the new Valentine’s Day-themed goodies from the latest release. Take a peek at my supplies, and then we’ll get started!

Build A Heart Dies
Pinking Rectangles Dies
Banner Greetings 2 Dies
Love Words Stencil

For this project, my first step was to build my hearts. I started by die-cutting the base hearts (there are four hearts to choose from) from a perfectly peachy patterned paper and then embellished the hearts with a simple white dotted trim that I repeated along some of the stitching details. The finishing touch was to add small cherry red hearts across the top portion of the hearts. I love pairing peach and red for Valentine’s Day!

My next step was to create the stenciled panel that is directly behind the hearts. First I die-cut a large Pinking Rectangle panel from white cardstock. Then I masked the pinked edges with low-tack tape and stenciled the Love Words across the center of the panel with cherry red ink. I removed the tape and layered this panel with a cherry red cardstock panel, slightly offset, and a peachy striped panel that coordinates with the peachy hearts. With the background and base of the card design done, I moved on to wrapping things up.

Before attaching the hearts to the stenciled panel, I decided to add a smaller Pinking Rectangle, slightly offset, to soften the stenciled panel a bit so the hearts weren’t competing so much with the words. My last step was to add cherry red banners embellished with small sentiments that are included in the Build A Heart set across the bottom portion of both hearts. Pop this onto an A2 cardbase and you’re done!
