Trick or Treat Cauldron

Hey crafty friends, it’s June! It’s almost time for my favorite holiday again: Halloween! Today I used some older spooky products combined with ones from the previous 2 releases.

The Cauldron Shaker is already a couple of years old, but I still think it’s one of the coolest shakers released. I filled mine with shaker bits from the Sugar Pop Shaker Beads and Spooky Sky Clay Confetti, as well as candy corns that I made using the ones in the Halloween Holder Additions. I also made some spare ones that I could use for my ghosts later.

I used the Candy Treats dies to make various other candies that I colored in the same color scheme as the candy corn. Now it really looks like the cauldron is filled to the brim with sweets.

The ghosts I used are the ones from the Spooky Mug Additions. I love how you can put a little something in their arms, so I gave them the spare candy corn so it looks like they stole it from the cauldron.

The absolute favorite part of this card for me is the background. I used the Argyle Pierced Plate and the Candy Cane Stripes Stencil to create a multicolored plaid. I used some masking tape to mask off each separate stripe so I could alternate between orange, pink and grey. The Distress Oxide colors I used are Hickory Smoke, Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade. I’ve created so many future backgrounds already with this method, I’ve quickly become obsessed with this stencil and plate combo. So many possibilities!

I used the largest Eyelet Oval to give my scene a cute scalloped backdrop. I went for grey to stand out against the busy plaid while still incorporating the grey I introduced in the background.

Lastly, I cut the Trick or Treat Shadow out of very dark grey cardstock. I cut the shadow parts from this cool tinted vellum I recently found. I like how it adds such a soft touch of color! I already loved using the shadow dies with vellum because of the soft look, but using a colored variant makes it even better!

And that’s the completed card! I think this card perfectly visualizes my Halloween aesthetic, especially the non-traditional colors. Are you still working on your Halloween cards, or have you skipped to Christmas already? Personally I feel like I’ve made way more Halloween cards this year than I usually do. I’m not ready to let go yet haha!

See you again soon, bye!
