Summer Greetings

Hey crafty friends! Elaine here to share a super fun summer card using fabulous new products from the Pretty Pink Posh June release!

Pretty Pink Posh: Summer Greetings

To start this card, I cut a piece of copic friendly cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5”, this will be trimmed down later.  Using the new Summer Wreath stamp set, I used a black copic friendly ink to stamp the palm tree, water melon, umbrella, ice lolly and ice cream multiple times all over the card panel.  I like to start with the biggest stamps first, in this case the palm tree and then worked down to the smallest stamps to fill in any gaps. My preferred method for creating my own background using little stamps is to mount the stamps on to an acrylic block and stamp direct to the card.  I have used a stamp positioner in the past, but it takes a lot longer….and I am impatient 😉. I then colored all the images.  I used quite a lot of different marker combinations for this project, and I have listed them all below.  I love the fun and vibrant colors and think they all work lovely together:

Pretty Pink Posh: Summer Greetings

Palm tree: E29, E27, E25, G17, YG23, YG03

Watermelon: R37, R35, R32, G28, G07, G05

Umbrella: BG15, BG13, BG11, Y15, Y13, Y11, RV66, RV55, RV52

Ice lolly: R29, R27, R24, YR07, YR04, YR02, Y15, Y13, Y11

Ice cream: R85, R83, R81, E57, E55, E53, R39, R35

Once I colored all the images I trimmed the panel to 5 1/8” x 3 7/8” and secured it to a piece of hot pink cardstock measuring 5 3/8” x 4 1/8” to leave a nice border.  After applying some liquid adhesive to the back of the hot pick card panel I secured to a white A2 size base.

For the sentiment I went small and simple to ensure my background was the star of the show.  I used the sentiment ‘Summer Greetings’ from the same Summer Wreath stamp set and stamped it with a black pigment ink on to some white heavy weight cardstock.  I carefully trimmed this with a guillotine trimmer and layered it on to a piece of black cardstock with a small border to help the sentiment stand out on the colorful background.  I adhered the sentiment with a piece of foam tape to the centre of the card front.

For some final embellishment I added small jewels in the shades Watermelon, Caribbean Blue and Lemon Drop in gaps around the images.  I also added some highlights with a white gel pen to the images to help them pop.

I hope you enjoyed this project, and it brings you some inspiration for your own summer themed cards.  I cannot wait to see what everyone else creates with the products in the June release!

  1. I’m new to distress inks so I like seeing how they can be used. I’m also more of a scrapbooker than card maker, but this shows I can do both! Very cute!

  2. Elaine this is super cute. I love that these images are small so they can be used as accents on envelopes and such. Great coloring.
