Tutorial: Re-Purposing Stamp Sets

Hello everyone, Joni here back with an inspiration using the Pretty Pink Posh Halloween Friends stamp set to a non–Halloween scene card. The bear image from this set is so perfect for this project.

To begin, I first stamped my bear on a white cardstock and color it with Copic markers then fussy cut the bear images and removing the wings. By removing the wings, it creates a different look for the bear. I also fussy cut the images (gifts, bow, and bird) from Holiday Pals stamp set to match with the bear image. I cut the images close to the line.

Then, I created my background panel by distressing an A2 white cardstock with Lawn Fawn Mermaid ink pad. For the ground, I distressed another A2 white cardstock using Distress ink in Squeezed Lemonade and PTI Melon Berry. Then die-cut with Scallop Border Dies. I also added a banner using the banner from the Fox Friends stamp set.

Next, I stamped the “hello” sentiment from Blissful Butterflies stamp set on a white cardstock and die-cut with the Blissful Butterflies Coordinating dies. I also used the “Hello Friend” sentiment from Birdie Friends stamp set, but just the “friend” word I used, I covered the “hello” with washi.

I also I added the tiny butterfly and the butterfly trail from Blissful Butterflies stamp set. Then adhered all the pieces together with foam tape. I also added some Sparkling Clear sequins and Fairytale Fuchsia sequins. For added glitter on the gifts and bows I used the Diamond Stickles for final touch.

  1. So adorable! Love the versatility you show with the masking and covering up a word with
washi to get a partial sentiment.

  2. Oh Joni, how absolutely precious this is! What a great idea (cutting off the wings) for a different look! Brilliant!

  3. I have to learn to do something like this. I never think to use my stamp sets other then what they were supposed to be used for and I never mix and match any of them. I guess I just never thought to do that but now that I see more and more people doing that, I will too. What a cute card and what a great idea to do this. Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. So cute. I love the soft colors and the cute layout. I like the idea of using washi tape over a sentiment you don’t want to use vs. cutting it apart.

  5. Love these ways to stretch stamps, both images and sentiments! adorable card!

  6. Very cute. I always enjoy learning how to make my stamps useful for more than one occasion.
