Thanksgiving Theme Week- Day 3
Good morning Pretty Pink Posh friends! Heather dropping by with a couple cards and a tutorial for Thanksgiving Theme Week here on the Pretty Pink Posh blog!
For my cards today, I used some of the smaller elements in the Giving Thanks stamp set, and one of the larger sentiments paired up with a heat embossing and distress inking technique to get a unique one layer effect on my cards!
I started off by using an embossing powder tool over my white cardstock to keep the embossing powder confined to only where I stamped. I then stamped my small images in a random pattern in Clear Embossing Ink, then stamped my sentiment over the top with black Versafine ink – THEN, all at once, I sprinkled on Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it all at once. This way you have one layer of heat embossing.
Here you can see the effect – the small images are nearly invisible at this point.
Then the magic – using foam blending tools, add your distress inks over the top – the heat embossed areas will resist the distress ink, and almost magically appear!
Finally, I added some splatters of water and Gold Color Shine for some additional texture, then attached some Sparkling Clear Sequins before mounting on a kraft card base.
Such a fun way to add texture and interest to a flat card!
Here is a closer look at both cards.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you are having a wonderful day!!!
These are really pretty Heather. No, I don’t send many Thanksgiving cards but I should as I love to make them. LOL
This set is so cute. I love how these cards were made. So colorful. I definitely send out Thanksgiving cards.
LOVE the look of these pretty cards! TFS!
Very pretty and great colors. Love when you can use different elements of the stamp set. You don’t need to use the fun cute figures to make an awesome card. The leaves and pumpkins are perfect and subtle.
Love these very pretty and the colors are great
These are so fun and perfect for Thanksgiving!!
Beautiful!!!!!
Beautifully Done, and the colors used are also good, over all it is perfect for this Thanksgiving :)
I love the Thanksgiving card. What two colors of distress inks did you use?
Thanks Jan! For the orange one the colors are Dried Marigold and Spiced Marmalade, and the other card the colors are Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, and Peacock Feathers.
I can’t decide which color I love the most. Oh heck, I love them all. Simple and beautiful. Thanks for sharing Heather.
BOTH are BEAUTIFUL!!!
THANK YOU for sharing your INKY AWESOMENESS :)
