Party Animals + Updates

Hello, hello!

Today I have a card to share with you all. I’ve been sneaking in craft time here and there, some more successful than others. As I’m writing this, I just had to step away from six hours of crafting time with NOTHING to show for it. It’s funny, whenever I don’t have time to craft, I have these great card ideas and then when I finally get time to play, nothing turns out. Does this happen to anyone else?

This card is from a previous productive craft session. I used the adorable Baby Party Animals set from SSS and created a birthday scene. As soon as I saw all the different sized presents, I knew I wanted to create a present tower and the rest came together quickly. I mean, who could resist giving that little monkey gifts, right?!

Lately I have been loving the edger shaped die that I added to the Stitched Borders 3 die set. It’s a unique shape and you can use it in a variety of ways. I’ve been loving adding it to the bottom of cards giving the card a little more depth.

With all the fun colors of sequins I’ve been adding to the shop, I forget how striking a gold or silver sequin can be. I pulled out the 4mm and 6mm Metallic Silver sequins on this card and really love how they stand out against the pink and green.

I’ve received a few questions asking when the winners of the Watercolor Blog Hop will be announced. Since there are so many prizes and I want to make sure it’s done as organized as possible and nothing gets overlooked, I’ll be working on the post over the weekend and the post will go live next week. Stay tuned!

The second question I’ve been getting frequently: how can you be part of the Boxes of Cheer program I’ve put together. (I’m using the word program loosely… it really is me just trying to bring a little bit of joy and cheer to those who need it). I recently put up the option for you to be able to donate to future boxes and the shipping of them. I’ll be sharing the pictures of the boxes I’ve sent in the near future- just putting together the last few touches.

And the final question: when are you going to post more videos? Well, I’m sad to say that my editing computer has crashed and so I’m having to start from scratch with a new computer, programs and then re-create graphics to include in the video. I’m not sure when all of that will happen exactly since I’ll need to build a computer from scratch. If/ when I have updates, I’ll let you all know!

borderThank you all for continuing to share my site with others. It’s been so neat to see the PPP family grow and I’m excited to continue bringing cards, products and other fun things to this site.

Until next time… XO

  1. Hey Paulina! Happens to me, too. I craft and craft and when I look at the finished product, I just want to cry and hide underneath a blanket and forget it ever happened.

To combat this depressing result, I’ve started “dry runs” of my cards. I crab all the stamps I’m going to use and I stamp my design, but only with one ink (mainly black). If I want to use dies that have certain shapes (everything but a straight line) I trace around them where they would go on the card. That leaves me with a little template that usually tells me if my idea is worth following or not. It doesn’t mean I then reproduce it “for real” without alterations, but it’s much easier for me to tell if this is a dud or not.

As for your computer: sorry to hear about the trouble and the data lost! I know just how annoying this can be. If you don’t use it already, I’d recommend a free Dropbox account if you are not using a Mac with Time Machine. You can get 1GB of data for free with Dropbox and it would allow you to store the important stuff both locally on your Mac as well as in a cloud based service, from which you could recover it in case of a crash. I have all of my video templates, watermarks, etc. stored in a folder that syncs to Dropbox, just for that reason.

Have a great weekend and thanks for sharing this super cute card!

  2. Love your sweet card! It’s adorable! I too have times when my crafty inspiration goes on vacation right when I’ve got time to play. It stinks! Thanks for sharing all the updates, too! I love when you share your sweet projects, hauls and videos. :)

  3. That is an adorable card! I have that set but haven’t used it yet, those little critters are so cute.

  4. Always happens to me! I’ll be at work, browsing in Pinterest or reading my blog feed & I am so in the mood to craft. Then I get home from work & after all the household stuff is done, like laundry & dinner, I can’t make myself go to my craft room and if I do, it feels like nothing comes out like I envisioned. :)

  5. Aw your card turned out so cute! I totally have the same problem all the time. I can spend hours at my craft desk and not complete anything.
I noticed when I was on an anti depressant before my surgery it was a lot worse. I had no inspiration at all, nothing zilch. Like it sucked all the creativity out of my brain. I think I’m finally coming out of that fog, but I still have a hard time completing anything. I notice part of it is that I see so many amazing cards it’s intimidating. I feel like mine has to be some sort of masterpiece everytime. I have to remind myself to just make what I like and have fun.
Sorry to hear about your computer crashing that’s never any fun. Hopefully it will all fall into place easily for you. Hugs Lenae

  6. Can’t wait to see the exciting new things that are always happening here!! Wishing I had been able to participate more on the watercolor blog hop but got plowed over by illness and spent 5 days out of contact with the world.
    Love this adorable card!

  7. Your card is absolutely adorable Paulina! And no you are not alone about finding the time to create and the old mojo drying up! It happens to me too! Thanks so much for visiting my blog and for your sweet comment!! ((Hugs))

  8. This is certainly a cute little monkey. All the other images are just as sweet. You did a great design and your coloring is wonderful. TFS.

  9. Hi Paulina,

I have another question for you. :) I have been on the look out for the 4MM Sparkling Clear Sequins since April. My LSS is out of stock and your webstore is also out. Do you have any information on when these might be back in stock? Thank you!! :)

    1. BTW….hope things go well with the computer-building project. It can be so frustrating when technologies dies on you. Looking forward to seeing what you add to your YouTube channel when everything gets back to normal. HUGS!!!

  10. as soon as i saw the sparkle andshine challenge, i got out these presents too, to stack them as a wedding cake, but it was too small for my liking, but funny to have the same ideas

  11. Thanks for sharing your adorable card.
Take your time to get your new computer and programs up and running so they will be all that you need them to be.

  12. Our computer is literally moaning sometimes (it sounds like the fan is messing up) and is so old…I keep putting off getting a new one because it is such a pain to get a new one up and running…so I’m feeling your pain and hoping your new one gets up and running soon. Love the little monkey card!

  13. Thank you for sharing your adorable card! I love the color palette! I had so much fun leaving bloggie blog on the blog hop.
As for the Boxes of Cheer program, I think it is a wonderful idea. I used to belong to 2 card groups
(I Feel The Project and Cards for Kids (that was a FB group). For The I Feel The Love project we would send cards for that month’s recipient/s. Once we even donated party decorations for a shelter for kids. That was so much fun and it overwhelmed me with joy.
For the Cards For Kids FB group, we would send our assigned kids cards, stickers and anything fun like coloring books. The majority of the kids were terminally ill. That was an experience that I will never forget. For 2015, both groups closed due to personal reason which I completely understand.
Once I am back to work on a full time schedule, I will continue with that journey again. I do have a group in mind who does need cardkeepers so I will wait a month or so and then continue on my journey if hat is what the lord needs me to be ( I believe he does)
Just to let you know..I think its Awesome what you are doing.
    Have a wonderful day,
