Leafy Spring Wreath Card Duo

Hi crafty friends! It’s June here, and today I’m sharing some details about a card set I recently made. I had the idea for a Leafy Spring Wreath card using the strawberries from the Fresh Berries stamp set, but quickly that idea turned into a set of 2 cards: one spring themed card using those strawberries, and a more fall themed card using the other berries from the same set. So without further ado, let’s get right into it!

Both cards have the same base idea, but only use a couple of the same products. The most important one is of course the Leafy Spring Wreath, which I coloured once in green and once in brown. To decorate them, I coloured a variety of berries, which ultimately decided my color palette for both of my cards. For the spring card, I of course went with traditional strawberry colors, and for the fall card I chose a purple and magenta combo. I also added a little slice of strawberry cake from Tea Time to the spring card because it looked a bit plain compared to the other berries. I added some leafs behind each berry cluster. The fall card uses leafs from the Fresh Berries set, and the spring card uses the largest of the leafs from Daisies. From that same set, I also added a bow to each of the wreaths.

I chose to add some small critters to each card to create some more interest on the top of the wreaths. For the spring card, I used some of the Lovely Ladybugs and for the fall one, I used an old favourite of mine: the birds from A Little Birdie. I filled all the empty gaps of the wreaths with flowers, a different type for each card. Both flowers are from the Leafy Spring Wreath set itself. I stamped some extras to use later on the decorative vines from Friend Greetings that I put on the top and bottom of my card. I just love this stamp set so much! Not only does it have my favorite greetings out of any set, but the vine is such a useful addition and it’s perfect for adding to a card that doesn’t feel quite finished yet!

Speaking of greetings, time to add even more parallels to the card by adding a sentiment on the inside of my wreaths. The Lovely Ladybugs set has this cute greeting that says ‘Bugs & kisses’, which reminded me of the similar ‘Hugs & kisses’ from Valentine Greetings

My backgrounds consist of a Wonky Stitched Rectangle with a tone on tone stencilled pattern, backed with a subtle pattern paper in the color that matches the color of the sentiment and the berries. For the spring card, I cut my rectangle from cream colored cardstock and used a beige ink to stencil the Leaves pattern. For the fall card, I used a layering stencil, which looks so amazing in tone on tone! I’m sad that most of the pattern got covered up cause it looked so cool! I cut my rectangle from pastel pink cardstock and used pink inks to stencil the Teacups

When I finished these cards, I instantly wanted to create a summer version with shells and a winter version with snowflakes, but maybe that’s for another time! I like how the fall card almost started to look like a wedding card with those birds and soft pink shades. Trying to keep the cards similar looking has limited my ideas a bit, but that also resulted in some more creative choices than I probably would have taken if I went into these cards as standalone seasonal cards. And that’s the fun of crafting! Sometimes you need to limit yourself a bit in order to progress, instead of looking at your endless amount of crafting supplies and not knowing what to use first. At least that’s how my art blocks usually happen.

Anyway, I hope you have an amazing week, and may inspiration strike you as well! Bye!
